  • This study provides an impact assesment of climate change on energy consumption, based on active-deal scenario. This approach assumes that the amount of electric energy consumption depends on human spontaneous acts against local (REC) has ben developed by using monthly mean temperature and monthly amount of electric energy consumption in the 6 major cities over the 19-205 period. The statistical model is utilized to estimate the past and future REEC, and to assess the economic benefits and damage in energy consumption sector. For an estimation of the future REEC, climate change scenario, which is generated by National Institute of Meteorological Research, is utilized in this study. According to the model, it is estimated that over the standard period (1999~2005), there might be economic benefits of about 31 bilion Won/year in Seoul due to increasing temperature than in the 1980s. The REC is also predicted to be gradually reduced across the Korean peninsula since the 2020s. These results suggest that Korea will gain economic benefits in the REC sector during the 21st century as temperature increases under global warming scenarios.

  • Since the KSTAR superconducting magnet structure should be maintained at a cryogenic temperature of about 4 K, even a small amount of heat might be a major cause of the temperature rise of the structure. The Joule heating by eddy currents induced in the magnet structure during the KSTAR operation was found to be a critical parameter for designing the cooling scheme of the magnet structure as well as defining the requirements of the refrigerator for the cryogenic system. Based on the Joule heating calculation, it was revealed that the bulk temperature rise of the magnet coil structure was less than 1 K. The local maximum temperature especially at the inboard leg of the TF coil structure increased as high as about 21 K for the plasma vertical disruption scenario. For the CS coil structure, the maximum temperature was obtained from the PF fast discharging scenario. This means that the vertical disruption and PF fast discharging scenarios are the major scenarios for the design of TF and CS coil structures, respectively. For the reference scenario, the location of maximum temperature spot changes according to the transient current variation of each PF coil.

  • In these days GUI components are recognized as the important driving elements to the successful software development. Thus they must be verified. In practice, however, GUI testing for verifying the GUI components needs lots of time and high costs. Test automation for GUI testing is a promising solution to save those expenses. In this paper, we discuss some issues considered to perform GUI testing and suggest a new method that improve the GUI test case generation method based on our previous 'record & playback' approach. For this, we suggest the event generation method using the 'spy' technique and the scenario generation method that generates effectively a lot of scenarios with the generated events. In turn we describe how to create GUI test cases from the generated scenarios.

  • Hydrocarbon fires and explosions in petrochemical plants have occurred repeatedly every year. But domestic law of fire protection system is insufficient for the worst case scenario. In this study, we analyzed domestic and foreign standards of fire protection system in petrochemical plants and surveyed firefighting equipment of 32 petrochemical plants in ulsan petrochemical complex. Finally, it is necessary to design fire water supply based on the worst case scenario in petrochemical plants and firefighting equipment such as fixed water spray system, elevated monitor nozzle, water curtain, large amount foam monitor system should be installed for the worst case scenario in petrochemical plants.

  • This study suggests a methodology for organizing functions of nD CAD model which 4D object is linked with cost and resource information. And the suggested model is composed of process analysis function of plant project based on visualized scenario analysis. That is, it is possible to manage effectively not only construction schedule plan, but also resource and cost information by integrating construction management information into nD CAD object. And the suggested model can be utilized as information of a effective decision-making tool through analyzing of optimal process scenario and sharing of an analyzed information.

  • This paper is developed to demand management scenario of energy consumption efficiency improvement, electricity generation efficiency improvement, network efficiency improvement, change of distribution ratio, movement of energy source, change of heating system, put of CHP to quantitatively assess to impact on energy use of demand management at the national level. This scenario can be applied Energy System Management model was developed based on Energy Balance Flow. In addition, effect analysis through built demand management scenario was quantitatively evaluated integrated demand management effectiveness of energy cost saving, CO2 emission reduction and energy savings of national level by calculating to primary energy source usage change in terms of integration demand management effect more often than not a single energy source separated electricity, heat and gas.

  • This study examines the impact of the number of coronavirus cases on regime-switching in stock return volatility. This study documents the empirical evidence that the COVID-19 cases had an asymmetric effect on the regime of stock return volatility. When the stock return is in the low volatility regime, the probability of switching to the high volatility regime in the next trading day increases as the number of cumulative cases increases. In contrast, in the high volatility regime, the effect of cumulative cases on the transition probability is not statistically significant. This study also documents the evidence that the government measures against the pandemic contribute to promoting the high volatility regime of the KOSPI during the pandemic. Besides, this study projects future stock prices through the Monte Carlo simulation based on the estimated parameters and the predicted number of the COVID-19 new cases. Under a scenario where the number of new cases rapidly increases, stock price indices in Korea are expected to be in a downward trend over the next three months. On the other hand, under the moderate scenario and the best scenario, the stock indices are likely to continue to rise.

  • In the last few years, the massive development in wireless networks, high internet speeds and improvement in car manufacturing has shifted research focus to Vehicular Ad-HOC Networks (VANETs). Consequently, many related frameworks are explored, and it is found that security is the primary issue for VANETs. Despite that, a small number of research studies have taken into consideration the identification of performance standards and parameters. In this paper, VANET security frameworks are explored, studied and analysed which resulted in the identification of a list of performance evaluation parameters. These parameters are defined and categorized based on the nature of parameter (security or general context). These parameters are identified to be used by future researchers to evaluate their proposed VANET security frameworks. The implementation paradigms of security frameworks are also identified, which revealed that almost all research studies used simulation for implementation and testing. The simulators used in the simulation processes are also analysed. The results of this study showed that most of the surveyed studies used NS-2 simulator with a percentage of 54.4%. The type of scenario (urban, highway, rural) is also evaluated and it is found that 50% studies used highway urban scenario in simulation.

  • Purpose: This study aimed to identify the level of complete knowledge about hand hygiene indications among nurses working at integrated nursing care service wards. Methods: A total of 127 nurses in eight integrated nursing care service wards completed structured sheets while observing a video based on six scenarios developed by the research team. Complete knowledge level was calculated as the percentage (%) of participants who responded correctly to all questions among participants. Complete knowledge levels according to the scenarios were calculated and compared according to general characteristics using the chi-squared test or Wilcoxon rank-sum test. Results: The complete knowledge level for each scenario ranged from 7.9% (scenario 6) to 42.5% (scenarios 4 and 5), and no one had complete knowledge of all scenarios. Only 3.1% of participants demonstrated complete knowledge in more than four scenarios, and 26.0% had complete knowledge of four or more hand hygiene moments. Complete knowledge level per scenario did not differ depending on work experience at hospitals and study wards, or prior hand hygiene training in the last year. Conclusion: As the complete knowledge level regarding hand hygiene moment is very low, it is suggested that regular hand hygiene training should be provided to nurses using video media that reflect real nursing tasks. Thus, they can acquire complete knowledge of when hand hygiene is needed or not during complex nursing work situations.
