The purpose of the current study is to report a part of our larger project whose focus is to understand a relationship between students' units coordination and K-12 school mathematics. In particular, in this paper we report how students who exhibit distinct levels of units coordinations used their knowledge of proportion to solve quadratic function problems of the form y = ax2. To this end, three 7th grade students all of whom assimiliated whole number problem situations with three levels of units but showed different levels for fraction problems were chosen. We carried out clinical interviews not only to understand their ability to coordinate units but to understand their problem solving process of proportion and the quadratic function problems. The analysis suggest that their abilities to coordinate units influenced their ways to solving proportion problems, and in turn influenced their ways to solve the specific form of quadratic functions. We have finalized our study by discussing how students' ability to construct and coordinate units, their proportion knowledge, and their knowledge associated with expressing the specific type of quadractic functions could be related.

In this paper, three axial accelerometer was used to develop a small sensor module, which was attached to human body to calculate the acceleration in gravity direction by human motion, when it was positioned in any direction. To measure its wearer's walking or running motion using the sensor module, the acquired sensor data was pre-processed to enable its quantitative analysis. The acquired digital data was transformed to orthogonal coordinate value in three dimension and calculated to be single scalar acceleration data in gravity direction and normalized to be physical unit value.
Let M be a minimally immersed closed hypersurface in $S^{n+1}$, II the second fundamental form and $S = \Vert II \Vert^2$. It is well known that if $0 \leq S \leq n$, then $S \equiv 0$ or $S \equiv n$ and totally geodesic hypersheres and Clifford tori are the only possible minimal hypersurfaces with $S \equiv 0$ or $S \equiv n$ ([6], [2]). From these results, Chern suggested some questions on the study of compact minimal hypersurfaces on the sphere with S =constant: what are the next possible values of S to n, and does in the ambient sphere\ulcorner By the way, S is defined extrinsically but, in fact, it is an intrinsic invariant for the minimal hypersurface, i.e., S = n(n-1) - R, where R is the scalar, curvature of M. Some partial answers have been obtained for dim M = 3: Assuming $M^3 \subset S^4$ is closed and minimal with S =constant, de Almeida and Brito [1] proved that if $R \geq 0$ (or equivalently $S \leq 6$), then S = 0, 3 or 6, Peng and Terng ([5]) proved that if M has 3 distint principal curvatures, then S = 6, and in [3] Chang showed that if there exists a point which has two distinct principal curvatures, then S = 3. Hence the problem for dim M = 3 is completely done. For higher dimensional cases, not much has been known and these problems seem to be very hard without imposing some more conditions on M.
Because it is easy to implement the scalar quantizer, it is used in various video coding systems. Although the scalar quantizer with a large quantization stepsize can reduce the amount of data, it has disadvantage that the reconstructed picture quality is poor. In this paper, we propose an efficient method which improves the coding performance by maintaining original quantization stepsize and increasing the number of quantization reconstruction levels. Simultaneously, for the purpose of solving the problem of transmitting the added symbol informations which is used to indicate the region of quantizer reconstruction level as the number of quantizer reconstruction level is increased, we also suggest the method to reduce the added informations. Therefore, for the intra-coded picture of H.264 video coding system, we generate the huffman codes for the symbol informations of quantization reconstruction regions by 4${\times}$4(horizontal 4 pixels, vertical pixels) block unit. Furthermore, for the inter-coded picture, we also generate the huffman codes for the symbol informations of quantization reconstruction regions by 8${\times}$8 blocks and 4${\times}$4 blocks within a macroblock. Adopting this method of reducing the added information by increasing the number of quantization reconstruction region, It is shown that the coding performance can be improved at the same bitrate.

The normalized sensor data was used to detect walking pattern and calculate their step counts. Developed algorithm was implemented in the form of PDA application. The accuracy of the developed sensor to detect step count was about 97% in laboratory experiment.

The recent audio CODEC(Coding/Decoding) algorithms are complex of several coding techniques, and can be divided into DSP tasks, controller tasks and mixed tasks. The traditional DSP processor has been designed for fast processing of DSP tasks only, but not for controller and mixed tasks. This paper presents a new architecture that achieves high throughput on both controller and mixed tasks of such algorithms while maintaining high performance for DSP tasks. The proposed processor, YSP-3, operates four algorithms while maintaining high performance for DSP tasks. The proposed processor, YSP-3, operates functional units (Multiplier, two ALUs, Load/Store Unit) in parallel via 4-issue super-scalar instruction structure. The performance evaluation of YSP-3 has been done through the implementation of the several DSP algorithms and the part of the AC-3 decoding algorithms.

In this paper, we propose a new function embedding method that can measure mathematical projections of probability amplitude, probability, average expectation and matrix elements of stationary-state unit matrix at all control operation points of quantum gates. The function embedding method in this paper is to embed orthogonal normalization condition of probability amplitude for each control operating point into a binary scalar operator by using Dirac symbol and Kronecker delta symbol. Such a function embedding method is a very effective means of controlling the arithmetic power function of a unitary gate in a unitary transformation which expresses a quantum gate function as a tensor product of a single quantum. We present the results of evolutionary operation and projective measurement when we apply the proposed function embedding method to the ternary 2-qutrit cNOT gate and compare it with the existing methods.
Objectives: This study was performed to analyse the effects of Sweet Bee Venom(Sweet BV-pure melittin, the major component of honey bee venom) on the central nervous system in rats. Methods: All experiments were conducted at Biotoxtech Company, a non-clinical studies authorized institution, under the regulations of Good Laboratory Practice (GLP). Male rats of 5 weeks old were chosen for this study and after confirming condition of rats was stable, Sweet BV was administered in thigh muscle of rats. And checked the effects of Sweet BV on the central nervous system using the functional observational battery (FOB), which is a neuro-toxicity screening assay composed of 30 descriptive, scalar, binary, and continuous endpoints. And home cage observations, home cage removal and handling, open field activity, sensorimotor reflex test/physiological measurements were conducted. Results: 1. In the home cage observation, there was not observed any abnormal signs in rats. 2. In the observation of open field activity, the reduction of number of unit areas crossed and rearing count was observed caused by Sweet BV treatment. 3. In the observation of handling reactivity, there was not observed any abnormal signs in rats. 4. In the observation of sensorimotor reflex tests/physiological measurements, there was not observed any neurotoxic signs in rats. 5. In the measurement of rectal temperature, treatment of Sweet BV did not showed great influences in the body temperature of rats. Conclusions: Above findings suggest that Sweet BV is relatively safe treatment in the central nervous system. But in the using of over dose, Sweet BV may the cause of local pain and disturbance of movement. Further studies on the subject should be conducted to yield more concrete evidences.
A high-fidelity computational fluid dynamics (CFD) analysis was performed using the Large Eddy Simulation (LES) model for the lower plenum of the High-Temperature Test Facility (HTTF), a ¼ scale test facility of the modular high temperature gas-cooled reactor (MHTGR) managed by Oregon State University. In most next-generation nuclear reactors, thermal stress due to thermal striping is one of the risks to be curiously considered. This is also true for HTGRs, especially since the exhaust helium gas temperature is high. In order to evaluate these risks and performance, organizations in the United States led by the OECD NEA are conducting a thermal hydraulic code benchmark for HTGR, and the test facility used for this benchmark is HTTF. HTTF can perform experiments in both normal and accident situations and provide high-quality experimental data. However, it is difficult to provide sufficient data for benchmarking through experiments, and there is a problem with the reliability of CFD analysis results based on Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes to analyze thermal hydraulic behavior without verification. To solve this problem, high-fidelity 3-D CFD analysis was performed using the LES model for HTTF. It was also verified that the LES model can properly simulate this jet mixing phenomenon via a unit cell test that provides experimental information. As a result of CFD analysis, the lower the dependency of the sub-grid scale model, the closer to the actual analysis result. In the case of unit cell test CFD analysis and HTTF CFD analysis, the volume-averaged sub-grid scale model dependency was calculated to be 13.0% and 9.16%, respectively. As a result of HTTF analysis, quantitative data of the fluid inside the HTTF lower plenum was provided in this paper. As a result of qualitative analysis, the temperature was highest at the center of the lower plenum, while the temperature fluctuation was highest near the edge of the lower plenum wall. The power spectral density of temperature was analyzed via fast Fourier transform (FFT) for specific points on the center and side of the lower plenum. FFT results did not reveal specific frequency-dominant temperature fluctuations in the center part. It was confirmed that the temperature power spectral density (PSD) at the top increased from the center to the wake. The vortex was visualized using the well-known scalar Q-criterion, and as a result, the closer to the outlet duct, the greater the influence of the mainstream, so that the inflow jet vortex was dissipated and mixed at the top of the lower plenum. Additionally, FFT analysis was performed on the support structure near the corner of the lower plenum with large temperature fluctuations, and as a result, it was confirmed that the temperature fluctuation of the flow did not have a significant effect near the corner wall. In addition, the vortices generated from the lower plenum to the outlet duct were identified in this paper. It is considered that the quantitative and qualitative results presented in this paper will serve as reference data for the benchmark.
