Development of Surface Acoustic Wave Sensor for Viscosity Measurement of Low Viscose Liquid Using Love Wave (Love파를 이용한 저점성 유체 점도 측정용 표면 탄성파 센서 개발)

  • Love wave is one of the shear horizontal waves and it can propagate between two layers in liquid without energy loss. The SAW (surface acoustic wave) sensor using Love wave is very useful for real time measurement of the viscosity of liquid with high sensitivity. In this study, the 77 MHz and 155 MHz Love wave SAW sensors were fabricated and use to measure the viscosity of low viscous liquid. To generate the surface acoustic wave, the inter-digital transducers were fabricated on the quartz crystal wafer. In order to obtain the optimal thickness of the coating film (novolac photoresist) generating the Love wave on the surface of SAW device, theoretical calculation was performed. The performances of fabricated Love wave SAW sensors were tested. As test liquid, pure water and glycerol solutions having different concentrations were used. Since the determination coefficients of the regression equations for measuring the viscosity of liquid are greater than 0.98, the developed Love wave SAW sensors in this study will be very useful for precise measurement of viscosity of liquid.

Acute Toxicity Study on Taeeumjowi-tang in Mice (태음조위탕(太陰調胃湯) 추출액이 ICR mouse에서의 경구 투여 급성독성에 미치는 영향)

  • 1. Objectives: The aim of this study is to investigate the acute toxicity and safety of Taeeumjowi-tang. 2. Methods: We investigated the acute toxicity for water-extracted Taeeumjowi-tang. 25 male and 25 female mice were observed for 14 days after one day oral administration of Taeeumjowi-tang at the respective doses of 0(control group), 2560, 3200, 4000 and 5000 mg/kg. 3. Results: We observed survival rates, general toxicity, change of body weight and autopsy. 4. Conclusions: The data confirmed that Taeeumjowi-tang is free from the toxicity and safety problems in oral route respectively. Compared with the control group, we could not find any toxic alteration in all treated groups(2560, 3200, 4000 and 5000 mg/kg). In conclusion, LD50 of Taeeumjowi-tang was over 5000 mg/kg and it is very safe to mice.

  • Fire can cause severe damages to human lives, properties, and environment resources regardless to where the fire will be happened and the evaluation methods for fire impact against fire objects such as human, properties are different among nations around the world. ISO TC 92 (Fire safety) has 4 sub committees to develop international standard to harmonize each nation standards and evaluate fire impact and the experts from all around the world participate in preparing international standards on fire. The main purpose of this study is to suggest a new road-map for domestic fire resistant standard of building structures. To make a new road-map two activities of the ISO's major committees and the countermeasures of fire safety from our standards were investigated.

  • SPM, which is an abbreviation of Single Point Mooring, also called as SBM(Single Buoy Mooring), is a special buoy besides the quays of the harbor for mooring ships, and is normally a 3m wide cone or cylinder shaped steel drum fixed underwater so it won't move, and is used for mooring cargo-work at outer port by laid-up ships and large crude oil carrier. The work of VLCC SPM mainly is accomplished on the open sea. On the open sea as a result of meteorological condition and the ocean wave influence, When the weather condition is get bed, peremptorily moving to the safety place, because of the gale and the billow, almost happened frequently, the pilot is unable to go on board and the tug is also unable to be used Now because of the bad weather the VLCC SPM moving to the other safety place frequently happened in the ulsan port. the construction of new harbor, it constructed many break water around SPM. So that it is necessary to propose the new standard about how to maneuvering area actually. The standard for handling ranges of the SPM operations was tested and verified by a simulation.. So that it is necessary to propose the new standard about how to maneuvering area actually.

The Validation of Newly Developed Portable Slipmeter (새롭게 개발된 휴대용 미끄럼 저항 측정기의 성능검증)

  • The purpose of this study were to develop and validate a prototype slipmeter used on-site floor. The developed slipmeter was dreg sled type. It measured static coefficient of friction(SCOF). The developed slipmeter was evaluated with ASTM 2508-11 which use four different standard surfaces(polished granite, glazed porcelain, vinyl composite tile, and ceramic tile). The SCOF was then measured with developed slipmeter under the three different contaminants and seven different floors. The test results of slipmeter were also compared with those of BOT-3000, floor surface roughness, and human perception. The test results revealed that developed slipmeter successfully ranked all four standard surfaces and differentiated among standard surfaces with varying degrees of slipperiness. The developed slipmeter couldn't properly measure slipperiness under the two kind of floors(polished tile, ground steel plate) and one kind of contaminant(glycerol). The test results of developed slipmeter had stronger correlation with those of BOT-3000 and floor roughness under the water and detergent solution than under the glycerol. The test results of developed slipmeter also showed stronger correlation with those of BOT-3000 and surface roughness than those of human perception. The newly developed slipmeter had been found to give consistent results under the test conditions except for two kind of floors(polished tile, ground steel plate) and one kind of contaminant(glycerol).

  • The human effort to make personal privacy and safety from outer environment has brought the improvement of security system through the technological development. Especially as a apartment dwelling and lifestyle is general, the role and function of door lock system is more important than ever. The research for user-centered approach and design on the door lock system should be implemented under the circumstances. This study has focused on the development of making safety as well as easy interface to design door lock system. The price also is competitive as compared with other door lock products. The goal of this study is to propose the alternatives not only to develop door lock design but also to search the innovative way of locking system design.

  • In order to prevent automobile accidents internationally, advanced safety devices are actively being developed. Among them, Auto Emergency Brake (AEB) function and Forward Collision Warning (FCW), which are used to prevent or reduce frontal collision, have been studied for a long time, and are being researched by various manufacturers to develop better performance. In fact, in the case of large vehicles, it is mandatory for AEB to be installed in Korea. Accordingly, a variety of Vehicles equipped with AEB and FCW are coming out, and inspection of these mounting devices is a necessary system in the future. This study confirms how AEB and FCW are currently assessed in regulation and the New Car Assesment Program (NCAP), This is a basic study of the matters to be considered in preparing AEB and FCW inspection standard by checking the performance of vehicles equipped with forward collision protection and identifying the vehicle's sensitivity, range and speed of radar sensors, and target vehicles based on CAN communication data.

  • Recently Conformity Assessment Scheme has greatly played a role in development of domestic industry. But it has limits in responding to change of environment surrounding standard. Therefore management environment has been changed, standard has been more important, and new treaties as like WTO/TBT have been appeared. In these respects this research tries to analyze the policy trends of developed countries and problems of domestic institutions. And it tries to propose seven plans to progress Conformity Assessment Scheme including improvement of domestic standard system on the basis of analytical implications.

  • The train control system is a facility to ensure safe train operation, and its safety is the most important factor for system introduction. Therefore, in order to improve practical usability in the business, safety analysis and evaluation of train control system and train control related core technologies are needed. Korea Railroad Research Institute has carried out standard development of radio-based train control system as a government research and development project. In this paper, we present a system specification of ATP, a core part of train control system, for standard system of Korean radio-based train control system(KRTCS). The paper present a operation environment and primary ATP functions, and functional requirement specifications.
