  • Recently, global warming problem is a major issue in international community. The carbon dioxide ($CO_2$) emissions in the construction industry is one of the main factors causing a global warming problem. Accordingly, various researches on $CO_2$ emissions caused by the construction industry is needed and construction methods which is low $CO_2$ emissions should be developed. In this study, $CO_2$emission cost is compared with roof waterproofing types in construction phase. As a result, the $CO_2$ emission costs of asphalt waterproofing is the highest. This research is to provide basic information for selecting appropriate construction methods in aspect of low $CO_2$ emission cost.

  • The cable staying roof structure of Jeju worldcup stadium should be erected with correct prestressed force that is required by the structural engineer who designs this structure. This study evaluated and adapted the erection process of cable, the erection force and the measurement of cable force for Jeju worldcup stadium. The process of erection is required not only to calculate erection force but also to check structural stability, following process, construction period and using cranes. Considering the site conditions and technical problems, this study can attain successfully the erection of cable staying roof structure of Jeju worldcup stadium with allowable errors.

  • The appearance of Korean traditional roof tiles is beautiful and excellent in water resistance, fire resistance and durability, but a high sintering temperature of 1,200℃ or higher is required. Therefore, due to the economical and heavy weight problem, the current trend is to use different roof finishing materials than Korean traditional roof tiles. By adding nanoaluminosilicate to clay and kaolin, which are the materials of the clay roof tiles, the sintering temperature is sintered at a low temperature of 1,000℃ or less, and the optimal mixing and material process is designed to satisfy the characteristics required as a Korean traditional roof tile. The results of this study again demonstrate the superiority of Korean traditional tiles with roof finishing materials using nanoaluminate. The properties of Korean traditional roof tiles that satisfy the criteria of KS F 3510 by applying fire resistance of natural minerals and nanoparticle technology to flexural strength of 2800N, Bulk specific gravity of 2.0g/㎤ and absorption rate of less than 10.0%, through which and researched materials development.

  • Ancient Chinese in the roof of the building referred to as "the big roof". This paper make a research on style of roof,to find out the identify contemporary social construction of a representative, the distinctive features of varying roof styles with examples. Using pictures and text, contrast to the situation, to explain why the roof of the ancient form of modern architecture can be widely used. Ultimately concluded that the ancient traditional roof styles in contemporary architecture in the use of a wide range is traditional culture and promoting the inheritance.

  • Recently, the crossing tunnel has been constructed to maintain the operation highway as well as railroad. The advantages of adopting RPS method in crossing tunnel construction are needed a little space and easy to change the direction of cutting shoe during the construction of pipe roof. The numerical analysis of RPS was performed for the application in the crossing tunnel under railroad. The earth pressure distribution and settlement were predicted when the RPS method was applied during the excavation for crossing tunnel construction.

  • Conventional Korean tunnel portals require a lot of overburden as, fer static reasons, about 1.5 to 2.0 times the tunnel diameter is needed for the height in order to achieve a sufficient arching effect. Thus, considerable movement of earth and support constructions are required which lead to undesirably large changes of and damage to the environment. With a massively designed pipe roof, tunnels with little overburden can be built. For the effective construction of a pipe roof as an advancing safeguarding method, the following properties are indispensable: stability, insensitivity to settling and drilling accuracy. With the AT casing system a new pipe roof method has been developed which on the one hand entirely combines the properties mentioned last, and which on the other hand permits safe, economical and environmentally friendly construction of tunnels at low overburden heights of 3 to 6 m.

  • There are many cross tunnelling methods such as NTR, TRCM, Messer Shield, Front Jacking, and Pipe Roof Method. The advantages of adopting RPS(Roof Panel Shield) method in crossing tunnel construction with comparing other existing cross tunnelling method are needed a little space and easy to change the direction of cutting shoe during the construction of pipe roof. The 3-dimensional numerical analysis of RPS was performed for the application in the crossing tunnel under railroad. The earth pressure distribution and settlement were predicted when the RPS method was applied during the excavation for crossing railroad tunnel construction.

  • The development and use of underground space in the city have been expanded considerably worldwide due to the growing population and traffic. Because the construction of underground causes some problems including traffic jam and safety accidents, the non-open excavation construction method are commonly used. NTR (New Tubular Roof) method which is one of the non-open excavation method is investigated in this study. The structural safety of underground structures by using NTR method is evaluated by ANSYS 9.0. The tubular roof according to diameters are analysed by ANSYS 9.0 at critical construction step. Finally, according the diameter and thickness of tubular roof the stress nad dispacement are analyzed and then the The efficient use of tubular roof is suggested from relationship between tubular's thickness and stress condition.

  • We divided the planting bale into waterproof layer, drainage layer and soil layer so at to investigate changes of live load according to species of wood and composition of the base to make rooftops green. The results are follows, 1. As concerning construction and live load for green roof, sheet waterproofing is superior. 2. When materials of drainage are changed crushed gravel into artificial lightweight graval or ferrite, live load of planting bale is decreased about 22% and 25% in order. 3. When ingredients of soil are chased normal sand into volcanic sand, live load of base is decreased about 28%. Especially, when it is changed into ferrite, 54% of live load is decreased. 4. In this study, all live load we concerned excesses the standard about roof live load of office, school and house. Hence, structure has to be concerned thoroughly when making rooftops green. But, we judge that various methods for making rooftops green can be applied if we consider roof garden when we plan new buildings.

  • Selection of proper root barrier as destination part of greening is very important in Root penetration resistance plan. To select proper root barrier, it need to understand composition of greening part, size, kind of plant, connection with waterproofing layer. In this point of view, we have establish greening on the roof or concrete structure, not been understand the structural mechanism. It means that we misunderstood about purpose of greening and using it. So, chosen materials and construction method was not proper for greening, it caused water leakage and decrease performance of concrete structure. Therefore, we examine the practical use of copper sheet considering environmental condition for green roof. Watertightness by water of greening part, root penetration resistance test by root penetration, bacteria resistance by must or bacteria in soil, chemical resistance by rain and chemical agent of fertilizer, and load resistance by soil depth, sire of plant. These suggested test methods could be referred as guideline to test in green roof system because of not exist any performance appraisal guideline or standard. Consequently, it should be analysis as technical and institutional subdividing test methods and it need to study constantly as varied angles.
