In this paper, a design method of nonlinear autopilot for ship-to-ship missiles is proposed. Ship-to-ship missiles have strongly coupled dynamics through roll, yaw, and pitch channel in comparison with general STT type missiles. Thus it becomes difficult to employ previous control design method directly since we should find three different solutions for each control fin deflection and should verify the stability for more complicated dynamics. In this study, we first propose a control loop structure for roll, yaw, and pitch autopilot which can determine the required angles of all three control fins. For yaw and pitch autopilot design, missile model is reduced to a minimum phase model by applying a singular perturbation like technique to the yaw and pitch dynamics. Based on this model, a multi-input multi-output (MIMO) nonlinear autopilot is designed. And the stability is analyzed considering roll influences on dynamic couplings of yaw and pitch channel as well as the aerodynamic couplings. Some additional issues on the autopilot implementation for these coupled missile dynamics are discussed. Lastly, 6-DOF (degree of freedom) numerical simulation results are presented to verify the proposed method.

This paper develops a 7 DOF vehicle model to study the effects of the active suspension on ride. The model is used to derive a control law for the active suspension using a full state linear optimal control technique. A wheelbase preview type active suspension is also considered in the control law derivation. The time delay between wheelbases is approximated using Pade approximation technique. The ride model is extended to a 14 DOF handling model. The 14 DOF handling model includes lateral, longitudinal, yaw and four wheel spin motions in addition to the 7 DOF ride model. A control law which is derived considering only ride related parameters is used to study the effects of the active suspension on a vehicle handling. J-turn maneuver simulation results show that the active suspension has a slower response in lateral acceleration and yaw rate, a bigger steady state lateral acceleration and an oversteer tendency. Lane changing maneuver simulation results show that the active suspension has a little bigger lateral acceleration but a much smaller roll angle and roll motion. Braking maneuver simulation results show that the active suspension has a much smaller pitch angle and pitch motion.
This study describes the feasibility of producing high-strength Al alloy sheet with a high solute content using a combined technique of twin-roll strip casting and asymmetric rolling. The Al sheet produced in this study exhibited excellent formability ($\overline{r}$ =1.0, $\Delta$r=0.16) and mechanical properties ($\sigma_{TS}$~305 MPa, $\epsilon$~33%), that, cannot be feasibly obtained via the conventional technique based on ingot casting and rolling. The structural origin of the observed properties, especially enhanced formability, was clarified by examining the evolution of textures associated with strip casting and subsequent thermo-mechanical treatments. Our evaluation of the mechanical properties and formability leads us to conclude that the combination of strip casting and asymmetric rolling is a feasible process for enhancing the formability of Al alloy sheets to the level beyond what the conventional techniques can reach.

This paper presents a simple method of rotational motion estimation and correction for roll axis stabilization of an image. The scheme first computes the rotation center by taking least squares of selected local velocity vectors, and the rotational angle is found from special subset of motion vectors. Roll motion correction is then performed by the nearest neighbor interpolation technique. To show the effectiveness of our approach, the synthetic and real images are evaluated, resulting in better performance than the previous ones.
In this paper, we investigate three dimensional optimal evasive maneuver patterns for air-to-surface attack missiles against proportionally navigated anti-air defense missiles. Interception error of the defense missile can be generated by evasive maneuver of the attack missile during the time of flight for which the defense missile intercepts the attack missile. Time varying weighted sum of the inverse of these interception errors forms a performance index to be minimized. Direct parameter optimization technique using CFSQP is adopted to get the attack missile's optimal evasive maneuver patterns according to parameter changes of both the attack missile and the defense missile such as maneuver limit and time constant of autopilot approximated by the 1st order lag system. The overall shape of resultant optimal evasive maneuver to enhance the survivability of air-to-surface missiles against proportionally navigated anti-air missiles is a kind of deformed barrel roll.
This paper proposes a real-time approach on the rotational motion estimation and correction for the roll stabilization of the sight system. This method first estimates a rotation center by the least-mean square algorithm based on the motion vectors of some feature points. And, then, a rotation angle is searched for a best matching block between a reference block image and seccessive input images using MPC(maximum pixel count) matching criterion. Finally, motion correction is performed by the bilinear interpolation technique. Various computer simulations show that the estimation performance is good and the proposed algorithm is a real-time implementable one to the TMS320C6415(500MHz) DSP.

We report on the design of a three-axis missile autopilot using multi-objective control synthesis via linear matrix inequality techniques. This autopilot design guarantees $H_2/H_{\infty}$ performance criteria for a set of finite linear models. These models are linearized at different aerodynamic roll angle conditions over the flight envelope to capture uncertainties that occur in the high-angle-of-attack regime. Simulation results are presented for different aerodynamic roll angle variations and show that the performance of the controller is very satisfactory.
The laminating technique for developing flexible liquid crystal display was demonstrated by using a thin UV curable polymer film and a plastic substrate with patterned polymer wall structure. We adopted the rigid wall structure to provide a solid mechanical support for the stable molecular alignment of liquid crystals (LCs) in the device. The cover film was prepared to have an ability of aligning LC molecules by patterning a micro-groove structure using the soft-lithographic process. These two substrates can be assembled tightly by the laminating and one-step UV irradiation process because of the adhesive nature of the used UV curable polymers. Proposed method can be used to fabricate the flexible LC display with simplicity and also be applicable for a cost-effective roll-to-roll process.

In this paper, distributed tension observer for R2R process is proposed. The minimal order observer theory is utilized to design the distributed tension observer. The proposed method estimates the tension of a specific sub-process based on the speed and tension information from its adjacent sub-processes. Utilizing its properties, the proposed method can be applied to decentralized control structure. In order to achieve high estimation accuracy, sliding mode technique is also adopted to the proposed method.

In this paper, three-dimensional optimal evasive maneuver patterns for air-to-surface attack missiles against proportionally navigated anti-air defense missiles were investigated. An interception error of the defense missile is produced by an evasive maneuver of the attack missile. It is assumed that the defense missiles are continuously launched during the flight of attack missile. The performance index to be minimized is then defined as the negative square integral of the interception errors. The direct parameter optimization technique based on SQP and a co-evolution method based on the augmented Lagrangian formulation are adopted to get the attack missile's optimal evasive maneuver patterns. The overall shape of the resultant optimal evasive maneuver is represented as a deformed barrel-roll.
