  • In order to make 3-D display technique a better tool to provide viewers with realistic stereoscopic experience, various researches have been done in the many relevant fields. This psychophysical study was designed to investigate whether there was any difference in the perceptual processing between a dominant and non-dominant eye when a 3-D cue was provided exclusively to only one eye. We measured the reaction time for detecting a depth change by providing the viewer's each eyes with differential 3-D stimuli, which have systematical patterns. We obtained that there was a consistent 3-D perceptual performance when the 3-D cue was provided to the viewers' left eye regardless of their eye dominance. The result suggests that it might be a better technique to arrange the camera for left eye to carry 3-D cues to get the viewer's consistent 3-D perception.

  • The priming task was used in order to provide an experimental evidence on whether the processing unit of Korean syllable is antibody or not. Four types of experimental conditions were made: antibody overlap condition (e.g., sumjil -> sungjik), rime overlap condition (e.g.,: hungchik -> sungjik), onset and coda overlap condition (e.g.,: saengjeok -> sungjik), and no overlap condition (e.g.,: chanmeol -> sungjik). In addition, we manipulated the letter type by type and type in order to investigate on whether different degrees of priming are there for the priming task. The result showed that only type showed significant inhibitory effects. This implicates that certain Korean word would be represented and processed by the antibody unit, and further studies are needed to know the whole pattern of Korean word recognition.

  • Gift-giving is a special behavior where both givers and receivers are interactively involved. Thus, emotion and satisfaction for both sides are core factors in gift-giving research. Recently, gift-giving expands to a mobile venue by the growth of the industries in Korea. In accordance with this trend, some studies have been conducted regarding mobile gifts called 'Gifticon'. However, most of them focused on the phenomenon based on the usage patterns and motives from the perspectives of givers. This study aimed (1) to figure out the emotional differences according to the action of giving Gifticons, and (2) to understand the effects of role and intimacy on the level of gift satisfaction. The results showed that, recipients felt higher levels of positive emotions such as excitement and thrill than givers whereas givers had different levels of gift-satisfaction depending on the intimacies to the receivers. This study is expected to suggest marketing strategies by providing psychological contemplations to a new form of gift-giving behavior, which is expanding toward a new mobile market. Further, it also suggests managerial implications by understanding the level of consumers' satisfaction from the role in Gifticon-giving situations and the intimacies between givers and recipients.

Two hundred seventeen university students from Chungcheongnam-do answered the questionnaire. The research model was analyzed with model 7 of Hayes' PROCESS Macro 4.0. When synthesizing analysis results, feelings of alienation mediate stress responses or directly influence smartphone addiction tendencies. At this time, people with high levels of mindfulness tended to lower their smartphone addiction tendencies by alleviating their stress response compared to those with a low level of mindfulness. The implication of this study is that it revealed the psychological process that causes alienation to induce smartphone addiction tendency through stress responses, and that mindfulness plays a role in alleviating stress response and lowering smartphone addiction tendency. In the future, it is necessary to apply the model of this study to people diagnosed with smartphone addiction.

  • The purpose of this study was to verify the differential influences of two emotional labor strategies on perceived CSS and burnout, and the mediating role of perceived CSS between emotional labor and burnout. The data was collected using self-reported questionnaires. A total of 568 hotel service employees who worked in various service jobs, participated in this study. The result indicated that surface acting had a positive influence on perceived CSS and burnout, and perceived CSS performed a mediating role between surface acting and burnout. In addition, deep acting had a negative effect on burnout but no effect on perceived CSS. As a result, deep acting reduced burnout without increasing perceived CSS, unlike surface acting. These results suggest that the two emotional labor strategies need to be treated differently. Finally, the implications and limitations of this study were discussed.
