  • The relationship between R&D investment and subsequent change has been mostly confirmed under additional influencing factors, with the form of innovation investments. The research assumes that a firm adjusts its R&D spending in accordance to performance feedback. It is argued that an increased fluctuation of a firm's R&D expense is related to a reduced performance. This hypothesis is tested on SME in World class 300 Projet by SMBA. Using panel data models, instability measured by SD is related to performance levels measured by ROA, ROE & PM. Results support the proposed relationship between R&D expense instability and the subsequent performance. Although a causal link cannot be clearly established, the results indicate that firms with a lower performance have higher R&D investment fluctuations, possibly being more responsive to performance feedback.

  • Natural seasoning are trends of food industries to replace synthesized seasoning due to consumer preference. However, unexpected results can be happened in a point of sensory evaluation and physico-chemical properties by adding natural seasoning such as reduced flavor, color change and so on. Therefore, this study aimed to verify the potential of sea tangle Saccharina japonica extract fermented by lactic acid bacteria (STE) for myungran (pollock roe)-jeot instead of present synthesized seasoning. Among various STE concentration (0%, 5%, 10%, and 15%) in myungranjeot, there was no significant physicochemical changes in a point of crude lipid, pH, total acidity, salinity and color difference. Microbiological profiles was also not significantly different. The 10% STE-myungran-jeot showed higher ${\gamma}$-aminobutyric acid (GABA) content as 24.4 mg/100g at free amino acid analysis than other STE-myungran-jeot without decline of sensory properties. In overall, it revealed that STE could replace the synthesized seasoning and improve the quality of Myungran-jeot. The results suggest that STE can be useful to develop a Korean traditional fermented food.

The demand for hospital management is increasing, as the social demands are diversified and the financial transparency is emphasized. The purpose of this study is to compare hospitals management based on Dupont Identity, by various hospital classification. Methodology: This study is based on '2016 Statistics for Hospital Management' provided by the Korea Health Industry Development Institute. The hospitals were classified according to the scope of care, the type of establishment, the location, and the number of beds. We analyzed the general and financial characteristics of over 337 hospitals using the method of Dupont Identity. Findings: Net profit margin (PM) has the biggest impact on return of equity (ROE). By the number of beds, general hospital with 160-299 beds have the highest return on equity (ROE). By location, hospitals in local municipalities have higher return on equity than hospitals in urban municipalities. According to the type of establishment, public hospitals have lower business performance, and although they invest more than private hospitals. Practical Implications: This study can inspire interest and provide understanding in hospital management and financial structure, by analyzing through an intuitive indicator named Dupont identity. It is possible to provide basic data for hospital management methods for each financial elements, in order to increase the profitability of hospitals.

  • Since the stock price is a measure of the future value of the company, when analyzing the stock price, the company's growth potential, such as sales and profits, is considered and invested in stocks. In order to set the criteria for selecting stocks, institutional investors look at current industry trends and macroeconomic indicators, first select relevant fields that can grow, then select related companies, analyze them, set a target price, then buy, and sell when the target price is reached. Stock trading is carried out in the same way. However, general individual investors do not have any knowledge of investment, and invest in items recommended by experts or acquaintances without analysis of financial statements or growth potential of the company, which is lower in terms of return than institutional investors and foreign investors. Therefore, in this study, we propose a research method to select undervalued stocks by analyzing ROE, an indicator that considers the growth potential of a company, such as sales and profits, and predict the stock price flow of the selected stock through deep learning algorithms. This study is conducted to help with investment.

  • Boil-dried concentrates (BDC) and steam-dried concentrates (SDC) were prepared from highly nutritious olive flounder Paralichthys olivaceus roes (OFR) as seafood processing by-products and their nutritional characteristics were investigated. Although SDS-PAGE profiles of the BDC and SDC proteins were similar to each other, it was observed that three of the five OFR protein bands in the 50-100 kDa range had disappeared. We also detected significant differences in the Hunter's color of the two concentrates in terms of color difference (𝚫E) and whiteness. The recovery amounts of BDC and SDC prepared from 100 g of OFR were 18.6 and 21.4 g, respectively, with respective protein contents of 67.7% and 68.9%. The main amino acids of OFR and concentrate proteins were valine, leucine, lysine, arginine, aspartic acid, glutamic acid and alanine, whereas major minerals were sulfur, potassium, sodium and phosphorus, the amounts of which in concentrates had been significantly reduced. We established that by sterilizing, inactivating endogenous enzymes, and inhibiting microbial growth, the cook-dried process contributes to enhancing the concentration and storage stability of nutrients by reducing water activity, volume, and weight. Accordingly, we suggest that concentrates (BDC and SDC) prepared from OFR have considerable potential as nutritionally fortified materials.

  • Peeling damage of trees is usually caused by Cervidae such as deer, roe deer because of the lack of food in forests. However, it happens as part of the developing of antlers in Jeju Island when the roe deer try to remove the Velvet-the skin of the antlers. The research area is the Hannam experimental forest (400 m up to 500 m above sea level) of Korea Forest Research Institute in Jeju Island, and the survey was carried out along the 6 km long of forest road with 5 m width on both sides. Twenty five tree species (total 267 stands) are damaged by peeling; 18 (134 stands) deciduous broad-leaved species, 5 (71 stands) in evergreen broad-leaved species, 2 (62 stands) coniferous species. The most common damaged species are in order of Daphniphyllum macropodum, Cryptomeria japonica, Lindera erythrocarpa, Clerodendrum trichotomum, Zanthoxylum schinifolium. Mainly damaged trees are approximately 3~4 years old saplings, and they show the mean height $120.7{\pm}42.4cm$, diameter measured at 5 cm height $1.5{\pm}0.5cm$. The Lowest peeling beginning height is $22.1{\pm}10.1cm$, and the mean length of peeling is $27.5{\pm}10.6cm$. Once the peeling damage happens, the saplings are infected by fungi secondly, and are distorted or dead, therefore the future structure of warm-temperate forests could be in influenced in species. Warm-temperate forest landscape and species change related to the climate change is a rising issue in Jeju Island. However the changes caused by peeling damage also could be an important issue in the natural process of forest environment, afforestation, local nursery and sustainable forest management of Jeju Island.

  • For study on the unsteady blockage effect, flows around a rotationally oscillating circular cylinder with relatively low forcing frequency in closed test-section wind tunnels have been numerically investigated by solving compressible Navier-Stokes equations. The numerical scheme is based on a node-based finite-volume method with the Roe's flux-difference splitting and an implicit time-integration method coupled with dual time-step sub-iteration. The computed results of the oscillating cylinder in the test section showed that the fluctuations of lift and drag are augmented by the blockage effects. The drag further increases because of low base pressure. The pressure on the test section wall shows the harmonics having the oscillating and the shedding frequencies contained in the blockage effect.

  • A dependence of weighting parameter in preconditioning method for solving low Mach number flow with incompressible flow nature is investigated. The present preconditioning method employs a finite-difference method applied Roe‘s flux difference splitting approximation with the MUSCL-TVD scheme and 4th-order Runge-Kutta method in curvilinear coordinates. From the computational results of benchmark flows through a 2-D backward-facing step duct it is confirmed that there exists a suitable value of the weighting parameter for accurate and stable computation. A useful method to determine the weighting parameter is introduced. With this method, high accuracy and stable computational results were obtained for the flow with low Mach number in the range of Mach number less than 0.3.

  • The purpose of this study is to compare the valuation of technology firms in the KOSPI and KOSDAQ. This study analyzed 224 market reports for KOSDAQ firms and 602 reports for KOSPI firms. We compare the two markets under 3 definitions on the accuracy of stock price forecasting. Findings are as follows: Although PER multiples is the most used method of valuation, KOSDAQ valuation more heavily relies on the method than KOSPI valuation. In stock market, the period of earnings forecasting is mostly 2-3 years. Multiples of KOSDAQ is generally higher than those of KOSPI. Even for technology firms, valuation in KOSPI mostly relies on earnings of the company, but that in KOSDAQ mostly relies on relative price. In stock price forecasting, generally overestimation prevails. Moreover, forecasting of KOSPI reports is more accurate than that of KOSDAQ reports. ROE and COE of KOSDAQ firms are generally higher than those of KOSPI firms.
