Parameters of Swedish bench blast design was analyzed by robust design method. Orthogonal array which is adopted in this study was $L_9(3^4)$ and the parameters were hole diameter, explosive type, hole inclination and rock factor of 3 levels. Result of analysis showed that maximum and minimum burden are most affected by hole diameter, followed by explosive type, rock type and inclination of hole. Parameters affecting specific charge are in the order of rock type, explosive type and to specific drilling are hole diameter and explosive type. Cost analysis showed that robust design is capable of parameter optimization.

Stress variation due to size variation and the eccentricity of ring type tensile specimen was analyzed by FLAC program. To get the stable tensile strength the ratio of inner to outer ring diameter should be within a certain range. Diameter ratio of 0.3 was suggested to be adequate. It seemed to be difficult to determine the tensile strength because of stress distortion if eccentricity exceeded home limit. To limit the error in 10%, lateral and axial eccentricity was analyzed to be in the limits of 3% and 10%, respectively.
The optimum blasting pattern to excavate a quarry efficiently and economically can be determined based on the minimum production cost, which is generally estimated according to rock fragmentation. Therefore, it is a critical problem to predict fragment size distribution of blasted rocks over an entire quarry. By comparing various prediction models, it can be ascertained that the result obtained from Kuz-Ram model relatively coincides with that of field measurements. Kuz-Ram model uses the concept of rock factor to signify conditions of rock mass such as block size, rock jointing, strength and others. For the evaluation of total production cost, it is imperative to estimate 3-D spatial distribution of rock factor for the entire quarry. In this study, a sequential indicator simulation technique is adopted for estimation of spatial distribution of rock factor due to its higher reproducibility of spatial variability and distribution models than Kriging methods. Further, this can reduce the uncertainty of predictor using distribution information of sample data. The entire quarry is classified into three types of rock mass and optimum blasting pattern is proposed for each type based on 3-D spatial distribution of rock factor. In addition, plane maps of rock factor distribution for each ground level are provided to estimate production costs for each process and to make a plan for an optimum blasting pattern.
This study is to evaluate an effect of supports with respect to these supports after comparing the characteristic of support between rock bolt of a widely used type and spiral bolt of a new type. For these purposes, we performed pull-out test in laboratory about rock and spiral bolts in the case of cement-mortar grout curing periods, 7 and 28 days, then calculated pull-out load, displacement, external pressure, inner pressure and shear stress using data obtained from the results of pull-out test, respectively. In relation between pull-out load and displacement, displacement of spiral bolt is larger than one of rock bolt. It is considered that mechanical property of rock bolt is due to larger than one of spiral bolt. In addition, displacement of supports shows nearly same or decreasing with curing periods. We found that because adhesive force between supports and cement-mortar grout is increasing with compressive strength of grout according to curing periods. The inner pressure of spiral bolt is represented larger than one of rock bolt at a step of same pull-out load. It is suggested that spiral bolt is more stable than rock bolt, maintaining stability of ground or rock mass, when supports are installed in a ground or rock mass under the same condition. Putting together with above results, we can consider that spiral bolt as a new support on an aspect of pull-out load and inner pressure is larger than rock bolt in a ground or rock mass under the same condition. Moreover, spiral bolt is more effective support than rock bolt, considering an economical and constructive aspects of supports, as well as ground or rock stability before or after installing supports.
With the development of concrete technology, producing concrete products that have the ability to flow under their own weights and do not need internal or external vibrations is an important achievement. In this study, assessments are made on using travertine, marble and limestone rock flours in self-compacting lightweight concrete (SCLC). In fact, the effects of these powders on plastic and hardened phases of SCLC are studied. To address this issue, concrete mixtures with water to cementitious materials ratios of 0.42 and 0.45 were used. These mixtures were made with 0 and 10% silica fume (SF) replacement levels by cement weight. To achieve lightweight concrete, lightweight expanded clay aggregate (Leca) with the bulk density of about $520kg/m^3 $was utilized. Also two kinds of water were consumed involving tap water and magnetic water (MW) for investigating the possible interaction of MW and rock flour type. In this study, 12 mixtures were studied, and their specific weights were in the range of $1660-1692kg/m^3$. To study the mixtures in plastic phase, tests such as slump flow, J-ring, V-funnel and U-box were performed. By using marble and travertine powders instead of limestone flour, the plastic viscosities and rheology were not changed considerably and they remained in the range of regulations. Moreover, SCLC showed better compressive strength with travertine, and then with marble rock flours compared to limestone powders. According to the results of the conducted study, MW showed better performance in both fresh and hardened phases in all the mixes, and there was no interaction between MW and rock flour type.
Complex rock masses include various joint planes, bedding planes and other weak structural planes. The existence of these structural planes affects the mechanical properties, deformation rules and failure modes of jointed rock masses. To study the influence of the parameters of a nonpersistent joint network on the mechanical properties and failure modes of jointed rock masses, synthetic rock mass (SRM) technology based on discrete elements is introduced. The results show that as the size of the joints in the rock mass increases, the compressive strength and the discreteness of the rock mass first increase and then decrease. Among them, the joints that are characterized by "small but many" joints and "large and clustered" joints have the most significant impact on the strength of the rock mass. With the increase in joint density in the rock mass, the compressive strength of rock mass decreases monotonically, but the rate of decrease gradually decreases. With the increase in the joint dip angle in rock mass, the strength of the rock mass first decreases and then increases, forming a U-shaped change rule. In the analysis of the failure mode and deformation of a jointed rock mass, the type of plastic zone formed after rock mass failure is closely related to the macroscopic displacement deformation of the rock mass and the parameters of the joints, which generally shows that the location and density of the joints greatly affect the failure mode and displacement degree of the jointed rock mass. The instability mechanism of jointed surrounding rock is revealed.
In the past, explosives like dynamite was used to blast rock. However, today it is difficult to use explosives in urban blastinglike excavation for subway, building, and housing land. According to Korea Department of Construction and Transportation's proposal for blasting design manual and test blasting, from TYPE I blasting to TYPE IV blasting are recommended when we determine 0.3cm/sec(centisec) as a maximum allowable ground vibration with a distance between $25m\~120m$ from structures. This article was written to introduce one of TYPE I (reck blasting within 25m from structures) blasting method, Nano-Plasma blasting method. When Nano-Plasma blasting method is applied in urban blasting job, ground vibration (15m away from blasting point) is expected 0.1cm/sec, which is only half of a ground vibration when low ground vibration blasting method is applied. By this unique characteristic, Nano-Plasma blasting method is epochal urban blasting technique.

Andong and Imha reservoir adjoins each other, but turbid water shows too much different when it rains. The characteristics of geological rock in basin and agricultural area around river boundary are pointed out as the major reason of turbid water of Imha reservoir. This study analyzed rock type of topsoil layer using soil map by National Institute of Agricultural Science and Technology (NIAST). Among rock types, sedimentary rock affects on the occurrence of turbid water. In the analysis of sedimentary rock type, the distribution of sedimentary rock of Imha basin shows 1.87 times higher than that of Andong basin. Also, the distribution of sedimentary rock of Imha basin shows higher than that of Andong basin within 1,600m from river channel in according to the buffer zone of river boundary. And Agricultural area of Imha basin shows higher than that of Andong basin in analysis of land cover within 1,600 m from river channel. As this agricultural characteristics of Imha basin, cover management factor of Imha basin represents more higher that that of Andong basin.

Rock blasting tests using underground penetration-type displacement sensors were conducted, and three-dimensional finite element numerical analyses were performed to assess their applicability and mitigate slope hazards during rock blasting. Additionally, parameters influencing vibration velocity were investigated during the tests. The results confirmed that underground penetration-type displacement sensors are suitable for monitoring rock slope behavior, and the numerical analyses revealed that the most influential parameter on vibration velocity during rock blasting is the unit weight. Furthermore, it was observed that vibration velocity decreases significantly with distance from the blast source, and proximity to the source leads to substantial variations in vibration velocity due to differences in elastic modulus and unit weight. Changes in internal friction angle and adhesive strength had minimal impact.
