This study was conducted to investigate the ambivalent characteristics of dichotomous contradictions expressed by Robert Venturi's architecture. It focused on his Mother's House, which applied his theoretical practices faithfully among many of his architectural works. First, he sought to change interior and exterior spaces by manipulating the architectural scales of "Mother's House". He achieved tension in space through structural complexities in combination with contradictions. Second, as for the characteristics of ambivalent contradictions, including linear and geometric forms, and plane, there were familarity which emphasizes tradition; external appearances of symmetry and asymmetry which give a comfort feeling; openness and closedness, which were expressed with the size of windows and objects such as molding. Third, the fireplace-chimney and the stair were forming appropriate harmony between contradiction and complexity as they competed for central position on the plane.

최근 시스템의 컴포넌트화 경향은 인터넷 환경이 보편화되면서 플러그앤플레이(plug and play) 형태로 조립하여 재사용하려는 기업의 요구에 가장 핵심적인 패러다임으로 등장하고 있다. 따라서, 기업은 기존의 레거시 시스템을 컴포넌트화하여 유지보수뿐만 아니라 새로운 시스템 도입에 있어서도 유연성 및 확장성을 용이하게하기 위한 재공학 솔루션을 필요로 하고 있다. 따라서, 본 논문에서는 레거시 시스템을 소프트웨어 컴포넌트화하기 위한 재공학 프레임워크를 제안하였다. 이 프레임워크는 컴포넌트 개발 방법론에서 필요한 절차와 Robert C. Seacord와 John Robert가 제안한 레거시 시스템 현대화 방법론을 통합하여 제시하였으며, 프레임워크의 각 단계는 레거시 시스템의 분석 단계, 컴포넌트화 방법 결정 단계, 마지막으로 컴포넌트로의 변환 단계로 이루어져 있다. 각 단계에서는 다시 세부 절차와 이에 필요한 제반사항을 기술하여 레거시 시스템을 소프트웨어 컴포넌트화하는데 있어서 필요한 절차와 가이드라인을 상세하게 제공하고자 한다.

This study of interfirm relationships is tested on a sample of Korean electric and electronic parts industry. The hypotheses present that (1) buyer's power affects administrative structure and relational norms, (2) communications are affected prior three antecedents, and (3) buyer's power, administrative structure, relational norms, and communication affects relational performances. The results indicate that buyer's power plays important roles in administrative structure and relational norms but communications are not explained three constructs. The result also indicates performances are partially affected by antecedents.

Anatomical comparison of 3 North American species with commercial name of redcedar was executed to provide taxonomic information for prevention of confusion and establishment of sound business transaction in the wood market. Eastern redcedar (Juniperus virginiana) and southern redcedar (Juniperus silicicola) could not be separated on the basis of microstructure and ultrastructure of wood. Western redcedar (Thuja plicata), however, appeared to be obviously separated from eastern and southern redcedar in a number of microscopic and ultramicroscopic features. Useful features for separating these two groups were intercellular spaces in transverse surface, latewood width, radial intertracheid pitting, warty layer and pits with torus extensions in tracheids, ray composition, nodular end walls in ray parenchyma cells, and cross-field pitting.

Robert Lowell is one of the major poets in the modern American poetic world. His major work, Life Studies, is a representative of confessional poetry. It presented American spiritual civilization and universality for life from the late 1950s to 1960s. It dealt with the subject of the poet's private life under the psychological pressure. Lowell described his distinctive vision of the relationship of painful world and suffering self in his poetry. An important feature of his confessional poems was the criticism on modern civilization by means of characterization. Life Studies was written as a kind of therapy to overcome his early trauma, as well as the social problems of contemporary Americans which Lowell was confronted with. Through his personal experiences, Lowell exposed and judged the collapse of traditional value and moral confusion in the society. Therefore, he is a poet who opened his own world of poetry with his poetic achievements.

This paper contemplates egalitarian ethics and ecumenical consumerism suggesting expansive possibilities of Northern Ireland's sectarian limits towards unlimited spatialities in Robert McLiam Wilson's Belfast novel, Eureka Street. This paper argues that Northern Ireland's (Belfast's) (post)modernity and a social ethics promoting outwardly mediated relationships are a vision for nonidentity Eureka Street espouses against the identity politics of Protestant-Catholic schism. Eureka Street remarkably challenges Northern Irish sectarian politics propelling inwardly unmediated relationships by ethical possibilities of infinitively mediated relationships. In the argument for a postmodern view of the novel, commodity fetishism and consumerism are considered as key to a prospect of emancipation of Northern Ireland from the political fetters of total identity the partisan communities impose on themselves. This paper also demonstrates that a post-national cosmopolitanism Eureka Street envisages embraces a new social solidarity predicated upon socio-political pluralisms against Northern Irish sectarian identities.

The development and testing of inspection equipment is necessary for the safe deployment of advanced nuclear reactors. One proposed advanced reactor design is Westinghouse's lead-cooled fast reactor (LFR). In this paper, the process of achieving adequate wetting for an ultrasonic under-lead viewing system is discussed and results presented. Such a device would be used for inspection in the molten lead core during reactor outages. Wider tests into the wetting of various materials in molten lead at microscale were performed using electron microscopy. The possible mechanisms and kinetics for materials wetting in lead, particularly stainless steel and nickel, are proposed and discussed.

2D and 3D ultrasonic imaging has so far not been demonstrated in pure molten lead in the open literature. In this study the development of such an ultrasonic device for imaging is outlined and results from testing at 380 ℃ in lead are presented. The main difficulties were found to be achieving then maintaining suitable wetting while ensuring suitable durability of the device, both due to the harsh nature of molten lead and the elevated temperatures. The successful detection and imaging (2D and 3D), of differently shaped targets, where the features were above the size of the transmitted ultrasound beam was demonstrated.

Referral to an endoscopist is often done once curative resection is no longer an option for cholangiocarcinoma management. In such cases, palliation has become the main objective of the treatment. Photodynamic therapy and radiofrequency ablation can be performed to achieve palliation, with both procedures associated with improved stent patency and survival. Despite the greatly increased cost and association with photosensitivity, photodynamic therapy allows transmission to the entire biliary tree. In contrast, radiofrequency ablation is cheaper and faster to apply, but requires intraductal contact. This paper reviews both modalities and compares their efficacy and safety for bile duct cancer palliation.
