  • Since FMS(Flexible Manufacturing System) such as semiconductor production systems have the characteristic that each device has to be commonly used in several stages, it is difficult to find an optimal solution. In this paper, we proposed the new algorithm which can get the optimal ratio of sharing resources. We will implement the proposed algorithm to semiconductor production systems. We introduce the optimal algorithm, which is modeled and analyzed by ExSpect, a petri net based simulation tool. When there exist conflicts of sharing resources, the scheduling method is adopted, which gives a priority to the most preceded process. The suggested algorithm can be used not only in semiconductor production systems but also in various FMS.

  • Mobile Internet using mobile devices provides Portability to users and is Spreading throughout out lives. But Practical use of the mobile Internet is insufficient due to it's fundamental limitations. Especially, mobile resources are not sufficient because they are not closely connected under current mobile Internet services which are provided with pre-designed structure. For these reasons it will take a lot more time and effort for mobile Internet to grow as a popular service. In this paper, we are focusing to overcome the local limitation and to enhance the 'Sharing of Mobile Resources' by expanding mutual connectivity between resource objects scattered over the mobile Internet environment. To archive this, we propose the MRSS(Mobile Resources Sharing System). MRSS automatically converts single request from user to multiple instructions based on 'Context-Awareness' to search for proper information. Using MRSS, we can expect 'Mobile Ubiquitous Computing' environment which users can reach to information anywhere, anytime.

  • This paper surveyed the theoretical backgrounds of digital library. Its definition and function and case studies, and basic skills for system construction of digital library were suggested. The differences between the traditional library and the digital library were compared. And the conditions that should be take into consideration of digital library construction were suggested. Suggestions are summarized as follows : 1. For the construction of digital library, library collection should be digitalized by using CD-ROM and commercial online services. 2. The digitalization of library collection should be planned by subject sharing between the libraries. For the control of this cooperation, the orgnization to propel the digitalization should be established. And it is necessary to enact the standards for the digital library. 3. The connection between MARC formatted bibliographic database and full-text should be studied. 4. All the types of information about texts, pictures, sounds and if films should be also digitalized. 5. To satisfy the needs of many users, we have to establish the various users's interface which is fitted for several kinds of users. 6. When a digital library was constructed, the copyright and resources sharing must be guranteed depending on the cost of database's usage. 7. Because the digitalization of library will be related to the various kinds of libraries, the interface for resources sharing will be constantly concerned. 8. The sharing of information resources between the libraries will be enacted on the Internet. And we must be interested in various internet tools such as telecommunication softwares, media convert programs, etc. 9. By training staffs continously, all libraries must be ready to come the library in the future.

  • Cloud computing is becoming an effective and efficient way of computing resources and computing service integration. Through centralized management of resources and services, cloud computing delivers hosted services over the internet, such that access to shared hardware, software, applications, information, and all resources is elastically provided to the consumer on-demand. The main enabling technology for cloud computing is virtualization. Virtualization software creates a temporarily simulated or extended version of computing and network resources. The objectives of virtualization are as follows: first, to fully utilize the shared resources by applying partitioning and time-sharing; second, to centralize resource management; third, to enhance cloud data center agility and provide the required scalability and elasticity for on-demand capabilities; fourth, to improve testing and running software diagnostics on different operating platforms; and fifth, to improve the portability of applications and workload migration capabilities. One of the key features of cloud computing is elasticity. It enables users to create and remove virtual computing resources dynamically according to the changing demand, but it is not easy to make a decision regarding the right amount of resources. Indeed, proper provisioning of the resources to applications is an important issue in IaaS cloud computing. Most web applications encounter large and fluctuating task requests. In predictable situations, the resources can be provisioned in advance through capacity planning techniques. But in case of unplanned and spike requests, it would be desirable to automatically scale the resources, called auto-scaling, which adjusts the resources allocated to applications based on its need at any given time. This would free the user from the burden of deciding how many resources are necessary each time. In this work, we propose an analytical and efficient VM-level scaling scheme by modeling each VM in a data center as an M/M/1 processor sharing queue. Our proposed VM-level scaling scheme is validated via a numerical experiment.

  • Biodiversity is defined as totality of genetic, species, and ecosystem variability. It provides natural sources of crop improvement, traditional medicine and biotechnology. In 1993, the Convention on Biological Diversity(CBD) became a legally binding framework for conserving and utilizing global biological diversity. It recognizes national sovereign rights over all genetic resources, such as the need to compensate developing countries for the resources they have provided to the industrialized world. The CBD grants access to those resources in exchange for compensation as well as technology transfer, so that the access to genetic resources would be made under prior informed consent(PIC) and mutually agreed terms(MAT). On the other hand, the developed countries argued that unfettered exchange of genetic resources was essential for scientific research and development, and that technology using genetic resources should be protected. There are many countries today, developing legal frameworks concerned with access to their local genetic resources and benefit sharing. In this study, we analyzed the international trends for conservation of biodiversity and sustainable use of genetic resources, and suggested how to cope actively with the situation.

  • The "sharing economy" describes a type of business built on the sharing of resources - allowing customers to access goods when needed. While sharing goods has always been a common practice among friends, family, and neighbors, in recent years, the concept of sharing has moved from a community practice into a profitable business model. This study explores gaps between customers' actual usages and current policies on accommodation sharing by analyzing what needs to be done for the better establishment of sharing economy in society. The purpose of this study is to investigate perceptions of accommodation sharing by analyzing reviews and negative aspects that help resolve complaints and improve better services through policy establishment. This study investigates key attributes that influence business performance to improve citizens' decision-making for the usage of accommodation sharing. This study applies qualitative research by collecting demand- and supply-side reviews from selected registered accommodations using a random sampling procedure. This study finds that guests prefer entire house sharing with instrumental attributes related to properties. Entire house sharing of multiple dwellings shows business impacts in terms of high occupancy rate on the platform, while there are policy concerns with entire house sharing. The results provide policy and managerial implications by suggesting proper policies and considering relationships with citizens.

  • The research on resource sharing in the diversification field is concerned mainly with sharing, but there has been little interest in resources. This research examined resource sharing with the main variables and logics of resource-based view. Based on a survey of 263 affiliates of 35 diversified firms, the impacts of resource quantity, resource quality, and resource exploitability on inter-affiliate resource sharing were hypothesized and verified. To confirm the performance implications of resource sharing, the impacts of the combination of resource quantity and resource sharing, the combination of resource quality and resource sharing, and the combination of resource exploitability and resource sharing on the affiliate performance were also hypothesized and verified. According to the empirical results from multiple regression analyses, resource sharing increases in the order of low resource quantity, high resource quality, and high resource exploitability. The performance was advanced in resource sharing under a low resource quantity and resource sharing under high resource exploitability, but it was not advanced in resource sharing under high resource quality. The results highlight the need for a further study on why the resource quality and resource exploitability affect resource sharing in the opposite directions, as expected in the hypotheses, why resource sharing under high resource quality does not lead to high performance, even though resource quality increases resource sharing, and what they would be if resources are subdivided by the types.
