The piezoelectric transformer converters electrical energy into mechanical energy, It is high efficiency and small size transformer for high output voltage. The piezoelectric transformer operates the resonance frequency and the output voltage waveform is close to sine wave. Therefore, it is suitable for driving the LCD backlight in the notebook computer. In this paper, we discussed about the inverter which os driving piezoelectric transformer by generating sine wave through LC resonance after converting input DC voltage to the gate signal of FET. As the result of experiments, it was showed that the resonance frequency and voltage gain of the piezoelectric transformer was proportional to the load variation, and voltage gain was independent of the input voltage variation.
The contactless power transfer (CPT) systems have been recently gaining popularity widely since it is an available option to realize the power delivery and storage with connector-free devices across a large air gap. Especially, the CPT with electromagnetic resonance coupling method is possible to exchange energy within 2 m efficiently. However, the power transfer efficiency of CPT in commercialized products has been limited because the impedance matching of coupled coils is sensitive. As a reasonable approach, we combined the CPT system with HTS wire technology and called as, superconducting contactless power transfer (SUCPT) system. Since the superconducting coils have an enough current density, the superconducting antenna and receiver coils at CPT system have a merit to deliver and receive a mass amount of electric energy. In this paper, we present the feasibility of the SUCPT system and examine the transmission properties of SUCPT phenomenon between room temperature and very low temperature at 77 K as long as the receiver is within 1.0 m distance.
Lithium is a highly attractive material for high-energy-concentration batteries, since it has low weight and high potential. Rechargeable lithium-ion batteries (LIBs), which have the extremely high gravimetric and volumetric energy densities, are currently the most preferable power sources for future electric vehicles and various portable electronic devices. In order to improve the efficiency and lifetime, new electrode compounds for lithium intercalation or insertion have been investigated for rechargeable batteries. Solid-state nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) is a very useful tool to investigate the structural changes in electrode materials in actual working lithium-ion batteries. To detect the in-situ microstructural changes of electrode and electrolyte materials, $^7Li-^{19}F$ double-resonance solid-state NMR probe with a static solenoidal coil for a 600-MHz narrow-bore magnet was designed, constructed, and tested successfully.
We demonstrate that the local resonance of metamaterials can be tuned by the effects of organic thin films under photoexcitation. Tris (8-hydroxyquinolinato) aluminum ($Alq_3$) layers are deposited on metamaterial/silicon hybrid structures. By varying the thickness of the $Alq_3$ layer on the subwavelength scale, the resonant peak of the metamaterial becomes very adjustable, due to the effect of a thin dielectric substrate. In addition, under photoexcitation all the spectral peaks of the resonance shift to higher frequencies. This originates from the reduction of the capacitive response generated inside the gaps of split-ring resonators. The adjustability of the electromagnetic spectrum may be useful for developing optical systems requiring refractive-index engineering and active optical devices.
We calculated the resonance tunneling energy band in the BCS gap for Type-II superconductor in which periodic potential is generated by external magnetic flux. In this model, penetrating magnetic flux was assumed to be in a fixed lattice state which is not moving by an external force. We observed the existence of two subbands when we used the same parameters as for the $Nd_{1.85}Ce_{0.15}CuO_X$ thin film experiment. The voltages at which the regions of negative differential resistivity (NDR) started after the resonant tunneling ended were in a good agreement with the experimental data in the field region of 1 T - 2.2 T, but not in the high field regions. Discrepancy occurred in the high field region is considered to be caused by that the potential barrier could not be maintained because the current induced by resonant tunneling exceeds the superconducting critical current. In order to have better agreement in the low field region, more concrete designing of the potential rather than a simple square well used in the calculation might be needed. Based on this result, we can predict an occurrence of the electromagnetic radiation of as much difference of energy caused by the 2nd order resonant tunneling in which electrons transit from the 2nd band to the 1st band in the potential wells.

In this paper, we study a problem of passive suppression of helicopter Ground Resonance (GR) using a single degree freedom Nonlinear Energy Sink (NES), GR is a dynamic instability involving the coupling of the blades motion in the rotational plane (i.e. the lag motion) and the helicopter fuselage motion. A reduced linear system reproducing GR instability is used. It is obtained using successively Coleman transformation and binormal transformation. The analysis of the steadystate responses of this model is performed when a NES is attached on the helicopter fuselage. The NES involves an essential cubic restoring force and a linear damping force. The analysis is achieved applying complexification-averaging method. The resulting slow-flow model is finally analyzed using multiple scale approach. Four steady-state responses corresponding to complete suppression, partial suppression through strongly modulated response, partial suppression through periodic response and no suppression of the GR are highlighted. An algorithm based on simple criterions is developed to predict these steady-state response regimes. Numerical simulations of the complete system confirm this analysis of the slow-flow dynamics. A parametric analysis of the influence of the NES damping coefficient and the rotor speed on the response regime is finally proposed.

This paper analyzes the non-stationary vibration and super-harmonic resonances in nonlinear dynamic motion of viscoelastic nano-resonators. For this purpose, a new coupled size-dependent model is developed for a plate-shape nano-resonator made of nonlinear viscoelastic material based on modified coupled stress theory. The virtual work induced by viscous forces obtained in the framework of the Leaderman integral for the size-independent and size-dependent stress tensors. With incorporating the size-dependent potential energy, kinetic energy, and an external excitation force work based on Hamilton's principle, the viscous work equation is balanced. The resulting size-dependent viscoelastically coupled equations are solved using the expansion theory, Galerkin method and the fourth-order Runge-Kutta technique. The Hilbert-Huang transform is performed to examine the effects of the viscoelastic parameter and initial excitation values on the nanosystem free vibration. Furthermore, the secondary resonance due to the super-harmonic motions are examined in the form of frequency response, force response, Poincare map, phase portrait and fast Fourier transforms. The results show that the vibration of viscoelastic nanosystem is non-stationary at higher excitation values unlike the elastic ones. In addition, ignoring the small-size effects shifts the secondary resonance, significantly.
The fluorescence of 4',6-diamidino-2-phenylindole (DAPI) bound to DNA at a [DAPI]/[DNA base] ratio of 0.005 was quenched by meso-tetrakis(N-methylpyridinium-4-yl)porphyrin (TMPyP) or cis-bis(N-methylpyridinium-4-yl)porphyrin (BMPyP) when both DAPI and either porphyrin spontaneously bound to the same DNA strand. The quenching was investigated using the "one-dimensional inner sphere" and the "F$\ddot{o}$rster resonance energy transfer" (FRET) models. Total quenching occurred when DAPI and TMPyP were up to 19.3 base pairs or $66\AA$ apart. BMPyP could quench the fluorescence up to 13.9 base pairs or $47\AA$. TMPyP, which intercalated between the DNA base-pairs, appeared to be a better acceptor than BMPyP, which stacked along the DNA stem. The higher quenching and higher resonance energy transfer efficiency of TMPyP was due to the larger overlap integral between its absorption spectrum and the emission spectrum of DNA-bound DAPI.

The cause for the variation of the initial permeability according to the Co substitution of Ni-Zn ferrite used in the LC resonance filter for the power line communication is studied. The initial permeability decreases as the quantity of Co diminishes, and the saturation magnetization increases as the quantity increases. Because the sintering density and the microstructure of ferrite show little change, the variation of the initial permeability can't be explained by the density, microstructure nor the saturation magnetization factor. The magnetocrystalline anisotropy increases, similar with the saturation magnetization, as the quantity of Co increases. The increase of magnetocrystalline anisotropy value makes the domain wall energy grow, which leads to the decrease of the initial permeability, because there's linear law between the magnetocrystalline anisotropy and the domain wall energy. The resonance frequency to Co substitution moved to high frequency band, due to the close relationship with domain wall energy, Initial permeability decreaed a little with an increase of Co contents, but resonace frequency moved to high frequency band. as a result of that, when Co was added 0.05 mol, initial permeability and resonace frequency was 75 and 25 MHz respectively.
Pharyngeal flap surgery changes the space and shape of the oral cavity and vocal tract, and these changing conditions bring resonance change. The purpose of this study was to determine the most reliable and valuable parameters for evaluating hypernasality to distinguish two patients before and after pharyngeal flap surgery. Each patient was asked to clearly speak the vowels /a/, /i/, /u/, /e/, /o/ for voice recording. There were nine parameters: Formant (F1, F2, F3), Bandwidth (BW1, BW2, BW3), LPC energy slope ($\Delta$ |A2-A1/F2-F1|), and Band Energy (0-500 Hz, 500-1000 Hz) by each vowel. From the results of discrimination analyses on acoustic parameters, the vowels /a/, /e/ appeared to be insignificant but vowels /i/, /u/, /o/ appeared to be efficient in the separation. A 95%, 100%, and 100% recognition score could be reached when vowels /i/, /u/, and /o/ were analyzed. The results showed that F2, BW3, and LPC slope are more important parameters than the others. Finally, there is a relation between perceptual evaluation score and LPC energy slope of acoustic parameters by least square slope.
