This paper describes a fault detection and fault handling algorithm to be used in a longitudinal vehicle cruise control systems. The fault diagnosis system consists of two structures to generate proper residuals and to find that which component has a fault. A systematic design of the fault diagnosis system using model-based techniques is presented. A linear observer is used to create a set of signals sensitive to faults in a radar sensor. The fault handling system consists of two structures to compensate for faults and degraded system performance. Simulation results show that the algorithm is effective for a fault diagnosis and handling in a longitudinal vehicle cruise control system.

A nonlinear adaptive speed controller is designed for induction motors. Only the measurement of the stator current is used to design the controller and the observers. The sliding mode cascade observer is introduced to estimate the stator current and its time derivatives. The open-loop observer are designed to estimate the rotor flux and its time derivatives. The adaptive observer is also designed to estimate the rotor resistance. Sequentially, the rotor speed can be calculated using these estimated values. It is shown that the estimation errors of the corresponding states and the parameter converge to the specified residual set. It is also shown that the speed controller using these estimates is performed well. The experimental results are represented to investigate the validity of the proposed observer and controller.
To set up the outstanding and scientific dyeing method in making the condensed liquid of pigment obtained from onion skins and the improved reliability, the following basic experiments were performed. The pigment was extracted in the distilled water at $70^{\circ}C$ and methanol at room temperature and then it was analyzed with LC/MS/MS system (Liquid Chomatography/Mass Spectroscopy/Mass Spectroscophy, LIQ Advantage Max, Thermo Finnigan, USA) for its pigmental characteristics. The unrefined silk and refined silk were dyed by making use of the derived pigment in such a way. The chromameter (CR-200, Minolta, Japan) was used to measure the change in surface color in textiles to be dyed by the extracting condition and the color difference ${\Delta}E$ was determined according to the color difference formula CIE LAB through measuring the psychometric lightness L* and chromaticity coordinates a* and b*.
The chemical waste treatment, APEG (alkali/polyethylene glycol) process has been shown to be effective for the dechlorination of PCBs in transformer oil. Considerable amount of PCBs, however, still remains in the waste exceeding the 25-50 ppm limit set by regulatory agency. A new thermal regeneration technology has been developed in our laboratory for disposal of hazardous organic wastes. Due to the limited oxidation of carbon surface through the reverse movement of flame front to oxidant flow, this technology was termed counterflow oxidative system (COS). Specially, the oxidant flow in the COS process is a principal parameter which determines the optimum conditions regarding acceptable removal and destruction efficiency of adsorbed organic wastes at minimal carbon loss. The COS process, under optimum conditions, was found to be very effective and the removal and destruction efficiency of 99.99% or better was obtained for residual PCBs in the waste while bulk (≥90%) of carbon was recovered. Any toxic formation of polychlorinated dibenzo-p-dioxins (PCDDs) and polychlorinated dibenzo furans (PCDFs) were not detected in the regenerated carbon and impinger traps. The results of surface area measurement showed that the adsorptive property of regenerated carbon is mostly reclaimed during the COS process.
The main idea of this paper introduce stochastic structural parameters and random dynamic excitation directly into the dynamic functional variational formulations, and developed the nonlinear dynamic analysis of a stochastic variational principle and the corresponding stochastic finite element method via the weighted residual method and the small parameter perturbation technique. An interpolation method was adopted, which is based on representing the random field in terms of an interpolation rule involving a set of deterministic shape functions. Direct integration Wilson-${\theta}$ Method was adopted to solve finite element equations. Numerical examples are compared with Monte-Carlo simulation method to show that the approaches proposed herein are accurate and effective for the nonlinear dynamic analysis of structures with random parameters.

This paper discusses a method for obtaining nonnegative estimates for variance components in a random effects model. A variance component should be positive by definition. Nevertheless, estimates of variance components are sometimes given as negative values, which is not desirable. The proposed method is based on two basic ideas. One is the identification of the orthogonal vector subspaces according to factors and the other is to ascertain the projection in each orthogonal vector subspace. Hence, an observation vector can be denoted by the sum of projections. The method suggested here always produces nonnegative estimates using projections. Hartley's synthesis is used for the calculation of expected values of quadratic forms. It also discusses how to set up a residual model for each projection.
In the EH-WSN(Energy Harvesting Wireless Sensor Network), the routing protocol must consider the power condition of nodes such as residual power and energy harvesting rate. Many EH-WSN studies have emphasized the power aspect and make the urgency of sensed data less important. However, in applications such as environmental monitoring, stability and latency become more important issues than power efficiency for urgent data. In this paper, we designed a routing protocol that can set path according to data urgency. To this end, relay nodes are determined considering the urgency of date. Nodes with poor power do not participate in routing when normal data is generated, so that urgent data can be transmitted reliably with low latency. The performance of the proposed routing protocol is analyzed by computer simulation.

This paper addresses the robust adaptive output feedback tracking for nonlinear systems under disturbances whose bounds are unknown. A new algorithm is proposed for estimation of unknown bounds and adaptive control of the uncertain nonlinear systems. The State estimation is solved using K-filters, together with the construction of a bound of an error in the state estimation due to the perturbation of the disturbance. Tuning functions are used to estimate unknown system parameters without overparametrization. The proposed control algorithm ensures that the out put tracking error converges to a residual set which can be arbitrarily small, while maintaining the boundedness of all other variables. A simulation shows the effectiveness of the proposed approach
