We investigated the question whether the efficacy of cleaning tear components on RGP lens and preserving the superior wettability of RGP lens depended on the different type of contact lens care system - RGP lens care solution, SCL care solution, combined solution both for SCL and RGP lens or saline solution. The removal efficacy of the deposited protein was examined by Lowry protein assay and Scanning Electro Microscope(SEM) and residual lipid concentration on RGP lens was determined by High Pressure Liquid Chromatology(HPLC). Wettability was assessed with an equilibrium water-in-air contact angle method. When cared by RGP lens solution, it was demonstrated that 62 percent out of the adhered protein on RGP lens were removed and the removal efficacy of RGP lens solution was not only 4 times than saline solution and the alternative but also higher twice than SCL solution. Contrarily, the SCL solution had the most excellent removal efficacy of the adhered protein on SCL. These results suggest that the cleaning efficacy is thought to be affected by the other factors like the viscosity of care solutions, which mutual contact between RGP lens and care solutions is on the increase due to the viscosity enhancer in RGP lens care solution. RGP lens solution had the greatest removing efficacy to cholesterol and the residual cholesterol concentration was decreased to 50%. It is significant for RGP lens to preserve the superior wettability which means the predictive value for comfortable wearing and it showed that the RGP lens solution offered the most excellent efficacy to maintain the surface wettability. Combined solution both for SCL and RGP lens had weak efficacy of cleaning and maintaining wettability for RGP lens compared to RGP lens care solution.
Stink bugs do damage on various crops including upland crops and tree fruits. Especially, yellow-brown stink bug (Halyomorpha halys ($St{\aa}l$)) and brown-winged green (Plautia stali) are severely damaged on apple orchard. Using seven insecticides - dinotefuran WP, etofenprox WP, chlorpyrifos WP, cabaryl WP, chlothianidin SC, flonicamid WG, and bifenthrin WG - registered on apple, contact and residual toxicities were tested on both male and female of P. stali and H. halys that preferred apple fruit. Contact toxicity of dinotefuran WP was excellent on male P. stali 48 hours after treatment (HAT) with 96.7% and significant on male Halyomorpha halys 48 HAT with 74.5% but the others had low effect. Contact toxicity on these stink bugs were higher in male than female. All insecticides except flonicamid, residual effects were all effective on both male and female of P. stali, while chlorpyrifos and bifenthrin were showed higher residual toxicity on both male and female of H. halys in laboratory condition. Two insecticides, chlorpyrifos and bifenthrin, were selected for the field test. Bifenthrin have a high residual effect on P. stali until 5 days after treatment, but have a low residual toxicity on H. halys in the field test. Chlorpyrifos showed higher residual toxicity in the laboratory, however, showed low residual efficacy on two species stink bug onto the field.
Antagonistic interaction between glyphosate and some herbicides in effects of post-emergence application on cut grass and of pre-emergence application on some weed species including barnyardgrass was evaluated with pots in plastic house. By addition of oxyfluorfen to glyphosate, the weeding efficacy on cutgrass was visually evaluated as promotive in both weeding rate and efficacy. However, by alachlor, simazine, gluphosinate or quizalofop-ethyl showed delayed weeding rate, and by paraquat, the promotive in rate but lower in efficacy, respectively. Fresh weights of cutgrass at 30 days after the lower-rate application has generally indicated the lower weeding efficacy than that from glyphosate alone. Even at higher rate application, the addition of alachlor or simazine to glyphosate has still indicated the lower efficacies. As a result of interaction analysis by Colby method, no synergism was detected from any treatments, and the combinations of simazine or paraquat to glyphosate in lower mixing rate showed significant antagonism at 5% probability level of DMRT. On the annual weed species including barnyardgrass, the significant soil-residual weeding efficacies were recognized by addition of any rate of oxyfluorfen, alachlor, simazine and higher rate of quizalofop-ethyl to glyphosate, respectively.
This study was carried out to investigate the evaluation of insecticidal efficacy and control effect in field of 10 environmental-friendly agricultural materials (EFAM) and seasonal occurrence at the vineyards to the Lycorma delicatula. L. delicatula nymphs occurred from late May to late August the highest early June (1st nymph) while adults occurred from late July to November with the highest peak of early October (preovipositing female) in 2010. Total population density of L. delicatula was the highest in early June. For the 3rd~4th nymphal instars and adults, EFAM (Spider, Jindikap-plus and Byejin-${\alpha}$) showed perfect insecticidal activity 2hour after treatment. Seoncho showed insecticidal activities 96.7% within 48 hour. Residual effects between EFAM showed 55.5% Spider at recommended concentration at 7 days after treatment(DAT), the other EFAM had low efficacy. Jindikap-plus and Spider showed 99% control value on nymphs in the field test at 3DAT, appeared control value more than 90% at 7DAT. Also, the control effects of Jindikap-plus and Spider were showed the adult mortality of 100% and 98.2% respectively at 3DAT, 90.6% and 84.6% respectively at 7DAT. Whereas the other EFAM had low efficacy. Jindikap-plus and Spider were excellent control effects compared with Acetamiprid WP.

Pesticide application in agriculture provides significant benefits such as protection from disease, prevention of harmful insects, and increased crop yields. However, accurate toxicological tests and risk assessments are necessary because of many related adverse effects associated with pesticide use. In this review, we discuss and analyze residual pesticides contained in livestock feed in Korea. A pesticide residue tolerance standard for livestock feed has not been precisely established; so, risk assessments are required to ensure safety. Standards and approaches for animal criteria and appropriate methods for evaluating residual pesticides are discussed and analyzed based on technology related to animal product safety in Korea. The safety of livestock feed containing pesticides is assessed to establish maximum residue limits relative to pesticides. Analysis of residual pesticides in milk, muscle, brain, and fat was performed with a livestock residue test and safety evaluation of the detected pesticide was performed. Efficacy of organic solvent extraction and clean-up of feed was verified, and suitability of the instrument was examined to establish if they are effective, rapid, and safe. This review discussed extensively how pesticide residue tolerance in livestock feed and hazard evaluation may be applied in future studies.

In the recent construction industry, an external strengthening method using fiber reinforced polymers has been widely used. Since reinforced concrete structures strengthened with fiber reinforced polymers are always under sustained loads, influence of creep and shrinkage on the structures is inevitable. Due to the creep and shrinkage, behaviors of the structures, such as deflection, deformation, recovery capability, strength and so on are also under the influence of creep and shrinkage. Thus, in order to estimate efficacy, creep recovery and residual strength of FRP strengthened RC beams, long-term flexural experiments and static flexural experiments were carried out. As the result of the experiments, FRP strengthened RC beams were very effective in terms of deflection control. Furthermore, the strengthened beams had higher immediate deformation recovery than immediate deformation. Through the static flexural experiments, it was shown that the CFRP strengthened beam had high residual strength. It seems that the sustained loads did not affect bond and residual strength of the beams.
Susceptibility of Curculio sikkimensis adults to 39 commercial insecticides were evaluated by body dipping method, Among them sixteen insecticides of chlorpyrifos, fenitrothion, fiponil, phenthoate, benfuracarb, thiodicaib, carbosulfan, bifenthrin, cypermethrin, $\lambda$-cyhalothrin, deltamethrin, clothianidin, acetamiprid+diflubenzuron, etofenpox+diazinon, esfenvalerate+fenitrothion and furathiocarb +diflubenzuron showed 100% mortality. Insecticides with over 80% residual effect at 1 day after treatment were phenthoate, benfuracarb and thiodicarb (95.0, 82.5, and 85.0%, respectively). However, after that, it was dropped rapidly. Other insecticides showed low residual effect. In the control efficacy test on C. sikkimensis, insecticides with over 90% control values at 1 day after treatment were phenthoate, thiodicarb, fipronil, acetamiprid+bifenthrin and furathiocarb+diflubenzuron. However, all insecticides from 2 days after treatment were over 90%.

PURPOSE. Computer-aided design and manufacturing (CAD-CAM) of implant abutments has been shown to result in surface contamination from site-specific milling and fabrication processes. If not removed, these contaminants can have a potentially adverse effect and may trigger inflammatory responses of the peri-implant tissues. The aim of the present study was to evaluate the bacterial disinfection and cleaning efficacy of ultrasonic reprocessing in approved disinfectants to reduce the microbial load of CAD-CAM abutments. MATERIALS AND METHODS. Four different types of custom implant abutments (total N = 32) with eight specimens in each test group (type I to IV) were CAD-CAM manufactured. In two separate contamination experiments, specimens were contaminated with heparinized sheep blood alone and with heparinized sheep blood and the test bacterium Enterococcus faecium. Abutments in the test group were processed according to a three-stage ultrasonic protocol and assessed qualitatively and quantitatively by determination of residual protein. Ultrasonicated specimens contaminated with sheep blood and E. faecium were additionally eluted and the dilutions were incubated on agar plates for seven days. The determined bacterial counts were expressed as colony-forming units (CFU). RESULTS. Ultrasonic reprocessing resulted in a substantial decrease in residual bacterial protein to less than 80 ㎍ and a reduction in microbiota of more than 7 log levels of CFU for all abutment types, exceeding the effect required for disinfection. CONCLUSION. A three-stage ultrasonic cleaning and disinfection protocol results in effective bacterial decontamination. The procedure is reproducible and complies with the standardized reprocessing and disinfection specifications for one- or two-piece CAD-CAM implant abutments.
Susceptibility and persistence of Japanese pine sawyer, Monochamus alternatus adults, and acute contact toxicity, foliage contact toxicity, and residual toxicity to honeybee, Apis mellifera were evaluated by using 5 kinds of neonicotinoid pesticides. All neonicotinoids pesticides showed over 80% mortality 48 hour after body spray treatment. However, only 2 kinds of acetamiprid ME and acetamiprid+buprofezin showed over 80% mortality in the twig dipping treatment. All of the five neonicotinoides pesticides used in M. alternatus adults showed residual effect of 60-80% mortality, but the efficacy decreased rapidly after 1 day of treatment. Acetamiprid ME showed the lowest toxicity in the acute and foliage contact toxicity test of A. mellifera. The residual toxicity of leaves on A. mellifera was very low in acetamiprid ME and acetamiprid+buprofezin. However, the residual toxicity of all pesticides treatments decreased to 10-30% after 1 day of treatment and further decreased with time. These results indicate that acetamiprid ME among five neonicotinoid agents showed a high insecticidal activity in the M. alternatus adults, while it exhibited relatively low contact and residual toxicity in the A. mellifera. It is thought that acetamiprid ME can be effectively used for the control of the M. alternatus adults as vector of pine wilt disease.
Wireless sensor networks (WSNs) are one of the basic building blocks of Internet of Things (IoT) systems. However, the wireless sensing nodes in WSNs suffer from energy constraint issues because the replacement/recharging of the batteries of the nodes tends to be difficult. Furthermore, a number of realistic IoT scenarios, such as habitat and battlefield monitoring, contain mobile sensing elements, which makes the energy issues more critical. This research paper focuses on realistic WSN scenarios that involve mobile sensing elements with the aim of mitigating the attendant energy constraint issues using the concept of radio-frequency (RF) energy extraction. The proposed technique incorporates a cluster head election workflow for WSNs that includes mobile sensing elements capable of RF energy harvesting. The extensive simulation analysis demonstrated the higher efficacy of the proposed technique compared with the existing techniques in terms of residual energy, number of functional nodes, and network lifetime, with approximately 50% of the nodes found to be functional at the 4000th, 5000th, and 6000th rounds for the proposed technique with initial energies of 0.25, 0.5 and 1 J, respectively.
