The cooling effect of paddy fields was compared with those of other land-use areas (upland, urban park, and urban residential area) during midsummer. The temperature were monitored using data logger at one hour intervals in study sites. Diurnal temperature range of study areas in clear days was larger than in cloudy days. Also, diurnal temperature ranges in paddy field, upland, and park areas were larger than those in the urban residential area during clear days. The paddy field or upland area has shown more remarkable cooling effect compared to urban residential areas: Mean duration of temperature below $25^{\circ}C$ in the paddy field area is longer(7 to 8 hours) than in the residential area; The time to fall to below $25^{\circ}C$ in the paddy field area is sooner than in the residential area; Mean daily minimum temperature in the paddy field area is much lower than in the residential area.

This study describes development process of residential architectural space in the Richard Meier's residential works through chronological analysis. By analyzing house layout, floor plan, elevation, materials and colors and light entering of his residential works, changes in his architectural space has been studied. Richard Meier's early work is designed as three-dimensional shape, and places emphasis on geometric form. However, recently completed residential works by Richard Meier focuses on the horizontal sun shading louvers, which has ability. In addition, teak and a special UV protective glass are used to control natural environment. Through this research, it was found that Richard Meier has maintained his architectural language in terms of the design layout of the house and planar with colors that appear on the initial project. Using light input methods and materials used for active development, it was found that many design elements were applied and developed.

Korea electric power industry had been under vertical monopoly but is typically getting restructured for free competition. An ideal pricing system under the competitive market system is 'unbundled pricing system' and 'marginal pricing system', but the current pricing system still adheres to the traditional bundled system and the average cost pricing system. Especially, progressive electricity rates for residential use reflect governmental policy-making which is focused on income redistribution & welfare, industrial supports and energy saving. This study proposes new and reasonable residential electricity pricing systems which are Time-Of-Use (TOU) and Real-Time Pricing (RTP) to reflect variations in the wholesale price of electricity. It also presents examples of various tariffs for residential electricity pricing systems.

With the development of medical technology, economic growth and increased interests In health in our society nowadays, the male and female average length of life has continued to increase. In response to the rapid aging phenomenon, diverse paid residential facilities for the elder have geometrically emerged in a short period, but compared to their quantitative increase, the kinds of facilities are not diverse and the quality of the facility environment also is not at the desirable level in comparison with the economic and intellectual level. Accordingly, the purpose of this study was to analyze the residential space from a perspective of marketing and establish the residential environment for the elder in response to the expansion of the market of the paid residential facilities for the elder in the future.

This study has an intention of investigating residential present condition of small households, and analysing the factors which have an influence on the choice of residence as a first step of the efficient plan of group residential facility providing a variety of residential present condition. The study defines the meaning of small households on the basis of statistical data that were presented at the National Statistical Office in order to analyse the factors influencing the choice of residence and investigate residential present condition. And the analysis range target is from 20 to 30 aged groups such as university students, social rookie year, and married couples without children. According to the result of analysing residential actual conditions of small households, The choice of residence has various factors. But the study supposes that it reflects three elements of workplace, University and housing price in the choice of residence. So the study investigated the related data.

Before the application of the group art therapy program, children from residential care facilities had higher depression than those from ordinary families. After the application of the program, however, children from residential facilities to whom the program was applied showed significantly lower depression than those in residential care to whom the program was not applied. Still, they showed somewhat higher depression than children living in ordinary families. Nevertheless, children from residential facilities to whom the program was applied showed the largest reduction in depression. Consequently, group art therapy is considered effective in reducing the depression of children in residential care facilities.

The purpose of this study is to grasp the application tendency of interior accessories in Korean residential spaces. The main resources were selected documents and articles with pictures published 27 years, from 1976 to 2002, in Modern House, which is the first magazine for the residential space in Korea. The major findings are summarized as follows: 1) Interior accessories were investigated more for functional reasons than decorative reasons. Despite the belief that interior accessories are Primarily for decoration purposes, this study proves that the functional elements are more important as part of the Korean interior. 2) The kind and the amount of interior accessories applied in residential space were decreasing in most accessories as well as in master bedroom, and living rooms from 1994 to 2002. 3) The number of application to Korean traditional accessories in residential space decreases as time goes by. Although they were used as functional accessories as the role of antiques in present.

The evaluation of the quality of residential environment may be different according to the experts' characteristics. This study aimed at estimating the relative weights of the constituents of a residential environment by AHP(Analytic Hierarchy Process) through experts' evaluation. The respondent group was composed of 72 experts in the fields of architectural design, housing design, urban design, and urban planning. The findings are as follows(:) 1) the relative weights of residential constituents were different between detailed fields ; 2) the relative weights of residential constituents were not different according to institute in which experts are engaged ; and 3) for the practical application of estimation results of the relative weights, the relation between residential performance constituents and physical design elements should be considered in future.

The pedestrian space of the street is one of the most important public places in the city. Sidewalks are the paths that everyone travels, and the spaces in which everyone comes together. By Whatever means they travel, everyone is ultimately a pedestrian during their journey through the residential area. Every year, more than six thousand Koreans are victimized by traffic accidents, and a half of them are pedestrians. This study aims at improving the pedestrian environment in residential area, and thus making road a walkable, pedestrian-friendly space. The study reviews the problems in the pedestrian environment of residential area and proposes improvement strategies.

This study has the purpose to reveal the differences of residents' using behaviors and patterns of living facilities at new 3 residential areas in the middle-sized city. The 3 residential areas had differentiated development concepts; (1) residential area in the downtown, (2) government-residence compound area in the downtown, and (3) industry-residence compound area in the outskirts. Followings are the results of the study. 1) The shopping facilities, banking facilities, public open facilities with high using level are planned in proper places. 2) The using pattern of shopping facilities show a improper pattern. Therefore it is necessary to plan the shopping facilities to induce the resident to change the proper using pattern.
