The Effect of Corporate Governance on Corporate Social Responsibility Disclosure and Performance

  • This research aims to test the effect of corporate governance factors on corporate social responsibility (CSR) disclosure and its impact on a company's financial performance. The factors of corporate governance referred to in this research are foreign ownership, state ownership, number of board of commissioners, the proportion of independent commissioners, and educational background of commissioners' board. Based on the purposive sampling method, 194 companies were selected with a total of 582 observations. The data analysis used in this study was the Structural Equation Model (SEM) approach by using the alternative Partial Least Square (PLS) method. The results of this research indicated that state ownership, number of board of commissioners, and the proportion of independent commissioners had a significant positive effect on CSR disclosure. While the foreign ownership and the educational background of the commissioners' board have had an insignificant effect on CSR disclosure. Then, CSR disclosure had a significant positive effect on the companies' financial performance. The findings of this study suggest that the positive effect of the CSR disclosure on performance is because the disclosure is able to improve the company's reputation; the more social activities are carried out will improve the customers' loyalty as well as the support from other stakeholders which in turns will improve the company's performance.

B2C 전자상거래에서 고객신뢰의 영향요인과 구매의도에 대한 신뢰의 매개 역할 (Factors Influencing the Consumer Trust and Mediating Roles of Trust on Purchasing Intention in B2C Electronic Commerce)

  • Despite the phenomenal growth of Internet users in recent years, the penetration rate of B2C electronic commerce(EC) is still low. According to previous studies, one of most often cited reasons is the lack of consumers' trust. Although trust is an important concept in B2C EC, there is a lack of theory-based empirical research in this area. In this paper, influencing factors are proposed for investigating the nature of trust in the specific context of B2C EC. Thirteen hypotheses are empirically tested. The results show that most of hypotheses are supported except for perceived size, perceived competence, perceived reputation, familiarity and third party recognition. In addition trust was found to have a strong positive effect on intention to purchase. Finally, trust was found to have a mediation effect between on influencing factors and intention to purchase. Implications of these findings are discussed for researchers and practitioners.

  • Long-term relationship in distribution channels has been emphasized in the former researches. But many researches and literatures have not focused on how to achieve and maintain long-term relationship. To achieve and maintain long-term relationship, this study pays attention to the role of trust and commitment. The purpose of this study is explaining the relation between trust and commitment with the mutual perspectives of retailer and supplier. Research results indicate that trust has an effect on commitment, trust has two levels of firm and a responsible person, and perception of partners commitment has an effect on trust in two levels. And it shows that to increase perception of commitment, increasing commitment, quality of communication, satisfaction, reputation, and decreasing opportunistic behavior should be considered.

e-CRM and Digitization of Word of Mouth

  • Well-known e-CRM strategy is to focus on profitable customers and pay less attention to unprofitable ones. Moreover, some researchers recommend not serving unprofitable ones any more. However, it often neglects customers indirect value. Deselecting unprofitable customers can raise the issue of bad word-of-mouth publicity especially in the age of the Internet. Some studies pointed out that a customers decision to buy a product or service is often strongly influenced by others. In this paper, we consider customers' word-of-mouth effect on quality learning of inexperienced customers. We show that firms implementing e-CRM must take the effect into the consideration when deselecting unprofitable customers.

TV 홈쇼핑에서의 패션제품 CRM에 관한 연구(제1보) (A Study on CRM in TV Home Shopping (Part 1))

  • The purpose of this study was to examine which variables affect customer relationship management in TV home shopping. Three hundred customers who had purchased fashion products in TV home shopping had participated in this study. The data was analyzed by factor analysis, t-test, correlation analysis and path analysis using SPSS program. As the result, 'service', 'information', 'contents', 'reputation', and 'benefits' variables had the effects on 'trust': especially, 'service' had the major effects on 'trust' The 'trust' and 'security' had the effects on 'commitment'. The 'price' variable had only effect on relationship maintenance. Also, 'trust' and 'commitment' had the 'relationship maintenance' Specifically 'commitment' had higher effect on relationship maintenance than 'trust' did. The results of this study would provide CRM marketing strategy for fashion marketers of TV home shopping.

패션 아울렛 소비자의 쇼핑성향이 브랜드 충성도 및 쇼핑만족도에 미치는 영향 (Effects of Shopping Orientation on Brand Loyalty and Shopping Satisfaction of Fashion Outlet Consumers)

  • The purpose of this study were to identify shopping orientation for fashion outlet consumers and its significance in influencing brand loyalty and shopping satisfaction. This study will propose results which help to better understand shopping orientation of fashion outlet consumers. A questionnaire was administered to 326 20s male and female living in Daegu Gyeongbuk during October of 2008. Data were analyzed by using Factor analysis, Reliability analysis, t-test and Regression analysis. The results of the research are as follows: First, The shopping orientation could be into 5 dimensions: pleasure tendency, fashion tendency, name brand tendency, prudence buying tendency, economic tendency. Brand loyalty were factor analyzed resulting three factors such as brand loyalty, brand care and brand knowledge. Brand loyalty factors of brand loyalty and brand knowledge had a positive effect on fashion tendency, name brand tendency. Brand care has a positive effect on name brand tendency and economic tendency. Second, Shopping satisfaction were factor analyzed resulting five factors such as product, store atmosphere, service store reputation, location convenience and price. Outlet product had a positive effect on fashion tendency, name brand tendency, prudence buying tendency and while all other factors showed a positive effect on preferences to follow trends. However, outlet price had a positive effect on only those consumers possessing a economic tendency.

Moderating Effect of Individualism/Collectivism on the Association between Service Quality, Corporate Reputation, Perceived Value and Consumer Behavioural Intention

  • Purpose - The paper aims at testing the moderating effect of individualism dimension of culture on consumer behavioural intention about bank services in Nigeria. Research design, data, and methodology - A survey was conducted with a sample of five hundred and fifty five bank customers drawn from various retails banks. Using Statistical Package for Social Sciences and Analysis of Moment Structure, combinations of descriptive and inferential statistics were performed. Invariance test and multiple-group analysis were conducted in order to assess the moderating effect. The invariance test was necessary to confirm the equivalence of constructs so that any difference detected thereafter could be related to moderating effect. Results - The results show that individualism has a significant moderating effect on the relationship between technical quality, perceived value and corporate image on the one hand, and behavioural intention on the other. However, individualism does not moderate the association between functional quality and behavioral intention. Conclusions - It is recommended that the bank policy makers should take necessary step to enhance the customer perception of technical quality, perceived value and corporate image with respect the retail bank services.

The Role of Corporate Social Responsibility in the Investment Efficiency: Is It Important?

  • This research aims to test, firstly, how the disclosure of corporate social responsibility (CSR) helps to moderate the effect of family ownership on investment efficiency; secondly, how CSR disclosures mediate the effect of corporate governance on investment efficiency. STATA was used to analyze archival data collected from a total sample of 210 manufacturing companies listed on the Indonesian Stock Exchange (IDX), which were in the family businesses category for the period of 2016-2018. The first finding is that CSR moderates the effect of family ownership on investment efficiency. This implies that family businesses are very careful about investing. They will avoid risky decisions that may increase the economic wealth, but reduce the socio-emotional wealth. To maintain socio-emotional wealth, they tend to choose an underinvestment strategy and are more concerned with the prestige and good reputation of their families and dynasties than with economic wealth. Thus, CSR disclosures can reduce the underinvestment strategy of family businesses listed on the IDX. The second finding is that CSR disclosures are able to mediate the effect of corporate governance on investment efficiency. CSR activities play a major role in decision-making, and through CSR disclosures, corporate governance has a greater effect on investment efficiency.

'윤리적 제품', 이름만으로 충분한가? 브랜드 명성과 지각된 윤리성의 정도가 소비자의 선택에 미치는 영향 (Is it Enough to Have an 'Ethical Product' Label?: the Effects of Brand Reputation and Perceived Ethicality on Ethical Consumers' Choice)

  • 윤리적 제품과 기업에 대한 소비자의 호의적인 태도, 윤리적 소비자의 증가는 최근 전 세계적인 흐름이다. 그럼에도, 윤리적 제품에 대한 호의가 반드시 구매로 이어지지 않는다는 연구들 또한 등장하고 있다. 본 연구는 그러한 사실에 주목하여, 윤리적 제품의 어떠한 특성에 대한 소비자의 지각이 구매행동으로 연결되는지 탐색하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 3개의 실험이 수행되었으며, 주요 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 같은 윤리적 제품이라 할지라도 소비자가 지각한 윤리성의 정도가 높아야 소비자의 선택 가능성이 높아졌으며. 이러한 경향은 친환경 제품과 기부형 제품을 막론하고 확인되었다. 이는 최근 이슈가 되고 있는 '진정성(authenticity)'에 대한 소비자의 지각으로도 이해할 수 있을 것이다. 둘째, 지각할만한 윤리성의 차이가 없다면, 윤리적 소비자들은 브랜드명성을 구매의사결정의 중요한 요인으로 판단하는 것으로 나타났다. 이는 기업별로 윤리성의 정도가 차이가 나는 제품이 아니라면, 결국 윤리적 소비에 있어서도 브랜드명성이 중요한 요소로 작용할 수밖에 없다는 사실을 시사해준다. 셋째, 윤리적 제품의 소비는 소비자의 특성에 따라 차이점을 나타내지 않았다. 본 연구에서는 소비자의 이타성과 과시성을 중심으로 비교하였으나, 이러한 개인 특성의 여부와 상관없이 브랜드명성과 지각된 윤리성이 매우 큰 영향을 지니는 것으로 나타났다. 예상과는 달리, 이타적 성향의 소비자들에게서 언더독 효과가 발생하지 않았다는 점이다. 연구 결과와 관련하여 몇 가지 시사점과 연구의 한계, 향후 연구에 대한 제언을 논의하였다.

국내 대학생들의 임대 아파트에 대한 인식과 주거입지 선호 특성에 관한 연구 - 미국 University of Washington 사례와의 비교분석 - (Korean University Students' Preferences for the Rental Apartments and Housing Location Factors - Comparative Analysis between Korean and US University Students -)

  • 본 연구는 국내 대학생들을 대상으로 한 설문조사를 통해 기업형 임대 아파트에 대한 인식과 주거 입지요인의 선호 특성을 분석하고, 주거 입지요인이 응답자의 기업형 임대 아파트 거주의사에 미치는 영향을 분석하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 본 연구는 미국의 University of Washington 대학생들을 대상으로 한 선행 사례연구의 분석결과와 비교함으로, 국내 주택시장과 주택정책에 중요한 시사점을 도출한다. 연구결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 첫째로, 한국, 미국의 경우 모두 응답자의 절반 이상이 졸업 후 차기 주택으로 기업형 임대 아파트에 거주의사를 보이고 있어, 사회생활의 첫 주택으로 기업형 임대 아파트단지에 대한 보편적인 선호가 있는 것으로 판단된다. 응답자들이 주택 선택시 선호하는 입지요인을 분석한 결과를 보면, 양국 대학생 모두 주거입지를 선택할 때, 경제적 요인, 주변 환경, 주택의 물리적 여건을 가장 중요하게 고려하고 있음을 볼 수 있다. 둘째로, 입지요인에 대한 요인분석 결과에서 "주택여건", "시설 및 관리", "근린", "평판 및 정책", "접근성" 등 5 개의 요인을 추출하였다. 셋째로, 로짓 회귀분석을 통해, 주거입지요인이 응답자의 특성 및 임대 아파트 주거의사에 미치는 영향을 분석한 결과를 보면, 국내 대학생들의 임대 아파트 거주의사에는 "시설 및 관리" 요인과 "평판 및 정책" 요인이 유의한 영향을 미친 것으로 나타난다. 따라서, 국내에서는 기업형 임대 아파트가 아직까지 주택시장에서 유력한 대안으로 자리잡고 있지 않지만, "시설 및 관리" 요인과 "평판 및 정책" 요인이 확충될 경우, 청년층들에게는 충분히 어필할 만한 주거대안으로 성장할 가능성이 있는 것으로 판단된다.
