The success of implants essentially depends on a sufficient volume of healthy bone at the recipient site during implant placement. In patients who have the severe alveolar bone resorption or pneumatized maxillary sinus, it should be performed that bone regeneration procedure before implant placement. Development of barrier membrane makes it possible that predictable result of alveolar bone reconstruction. Many kind of materials used for barrier membrane technique are introduced, non-absorbable or absorbable membranes. But, when operation site was ruptured with membrane exposure, bacterias can be grow up at the bone graft site. Then morphology and migration of fibroblast will be changed. It works as a negative factor on healing process of bone graft site. In oral and maxillofacial department of Chonbuk national university dental hospital, we use variable suture technique like as subgingival suture, vertical mattress suture, simple interrupted suture, if need, tenting suture after GBR or block bone graft. Within these suture technique, wound healing was excellent without complication, so now we take a report of suture technique in reconstruction of alveolar bone surgery.

Quadrilateral flap technique for primary cheiloplasty in patients with cleft lip was initially developed by Hagedorn in 1884. After Le Mesurier presented this procedure in 1940's, many surgeons adopted this technique for clinical advantage of reconstruction of Cupid's bow and lesser amount of tissue discarding than straight line technique. However, owing to its drawbacks such as sacrifice of Cupid's bow and prominent scar on philtral ridge, other techniques like Tennison's triangular flap and Millard's rotation-advancement flap have gradually taken its place. Nevertheless, some clinicians like Dr. Wang has modified this quadrilateral flap technique for better clinical outcomes. In this report we present 3 cases of unilateral complete cleft lip patients who underwent primary cheiloplasty with favorable outcomes based on Dr. Wang's modified quadrilateral flap technique.

This study is designed to evaluate the effect of HyunGa manual technique for the patient with scoliosis. After HyunGa manual technique the results of cobb's angle were improved significantly. It is suggested that HyunGa manual technique might be effective for the patiant with Scoliosis.

This report is the first intermediate report of a series of field test result of large high voltage motors. Major specimens were 3.3/6.6kV class pump motor that was installed and operated for public water service by KOWACO(KOrea WAter resources COperation). The capacity of specimen motors were in range of several hundred kVA. Until now, we get the 22 field test result by testing technique discribed in IEEE standards and discharge-map technique reported by Japanese engineers. The test result were varied very wide range, and there was a tendency according to insulation material and manufacture.

Objectives: The object of this study is to report a clinical effect of chuna manual theraphy for the soft herniated intervertebral cervical disc. Methods: The patient was treated by cervical traction technique which is one of the chuna manual theraphy with other conservative treatments including acupuncture, herbal mixture, bee-venom theraphy and TENS(Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation). Visual analogue scale(VAS) have been used for result report. Results: After the cervical traction technique, the VAS was significantly improved. Conclusions: It is thought that the chuna manual theraphy might be effective to the patient with soft herniated intervertebral cervical disc.

Objectives: This study is designed to report the valid result of complex of Chuna Therapy and Myofascial Release Technique(MRT) on scoliosis patients. Methods: The correction program for scoliosis takes 3 month per case. Chuna Therapy and MRT were given once a week and other oriental medicine care was given twice a week to care the complications of scoliosis. The Cobb's angle(by X-ray, Full spine view) and Visual analogue scale(VAS) were evaluated before and after the treatments. Results: After the program, both of Cobb's angle and VAS decreased. Conclusions: Though it is a case report, we found Chuna Therapy and MRT might have valid effect on scoliosis patients. Further rigorous case series and controlled trials are warranted.

Complete resection of an apicoposterior mediastinal mass is essential due to the mass effect, which exerts pressure on adjacent organs. Recently, the use of minimally invasive surgery has had many advantages. In this report, we describe a case in which a large apicoposterior mediastinal hypervascular mass was managed using a purse-string suture technique during robotic-assisted thoracoscopic surgery (RATS). The patient, a 77-year-old woman, was diagnosed with a 6.2-cm apicoposterior mediastinal hypervascular solid mass originating from the branches of the right subclavian artery. The patient underwent RATS for treatment. To obtain an adequate view of the apex of the thoracic cavity, a needle aspiration was performed, followed by the application of a purse-string suture technique. This was done to reduce the size of the tumor and to prevent catastrophic events such as seeding or spillage of the cystic mass. The mass was histopathologically diagnosed as a schwannoma. The patient was discharged on the first postoperative day without experiencing any complications.

Historically, various techniques to correct the deformity of lip and nose in functional and esthetic ways were developed and applied in dealing the patients with cleft lip. When treating the patients with unilateral cleft lip, many surgeons adopt the rotation-advancement method originally developed by Millard, or the triangular flap technique developed by Tennison, Randall or the modifications of these techniques. Among these, triangular flap technique has its advantage in designing the flap using the patient's anatomic landmarks. It enables less skillful operator to perform this technique relatively easily and produce reasonable results. In this report we present 8 cases of unilateral complete cleft lip and 3 casesof unilateral incomplete cleft lip. They all underwent primary cheiloplasty based on triangular flap technique, and functional, esthetic outcomes were favorable.

The modified ridge splitting/expansion technique combined with guided bone regeneration (GBR) for implant surgery is used to expand the narrow and atrophied edentulous alveolar ridge. Also, the simultaneous implant placement after ridge splitting/expansion technique can reduce the treatment and healing time. This case report includes three patients with a narrow edentulous alveolar ridge of the 2 to 4mm. All three patients underwent a fracture of thin buccal cortical bone plate, and these defects were corrected by the use of the guided bone regeneration (GBR). After 7 to 18 months, all surgical area was stable, and all implant showed a good healing state on the clinical and radiographic examination. In conclusion, though this surgical method is technique sensitive, the modified ridge splitting/expansion technique combined with GBR for implant surgery is recommended for a horizontal augmentation in the narrow edentulous alveolar ridge.

We report two cases of spinal subdural hematoma in the lumbar region after trauma. They developed in a 27-years old man and a 32-year-old woman. They had no other causes such as bleeding tendency, preexisting spinal lesions, lumbar puncture, vascular malformation and anticoagulant therapy. There lesions were diagnosed with MRI(fat suppression) and treated by lumbar puncture.
