The purpose of this experimental study is to investigate the effects of repeating vocabulary exercises on learning and retaining the meaning, the form, and the use of L2 words. To achieve this purpose, the data from the 87 participants who performed the assigned vocabulary exercises were collected immediately and two weeks later on their learning and retention of the target words. In addition, their attitudes toward the given vocabulary exercises were examined. The results show that the participants repeating exercises showed significantly better results in the immediate posttest, whereas no significant differences were found in the delayed posttest. Consequently, although the repetition effect influence positively on the learning of the target words, these effects are not maintained if they are not reinforced subsequently after the initial introduction to them. Most of the participants in this study identified the importance of repetition in learning new words and also noted that only one encounter with words was not enough for them to acquire the words fully.
Recently, many scholars have emphasized the importance of English listening ability for smoother communication. Most audio materials, however, were recorded in a quiet sound-proof booth. Therefore, students who have spent so much time listening to the ideal audio materials are expected to have difficulty communicating with native speakers in the real life. In this study, we examined how well thirty three Korean university students and five native speakers will repeat the recorded English sentences under noise and speed conditions. The subjects' production was scored by listening to each recorded sentence and counting the number of words correctly produced and determined the percent ratios of correctly produced words to the total words in each sentence. Results showed that the student group correctly repeated around 65% of all the words in each sentence while the native speakers demonstrated almost perfect match. It seemed that the students had difficulty perceiving and repeating function words in various conditions. Also, high-proficiency student group outperformed the low-proficiency student group particularly in their repetition of function words. In addition, the student subjects' accuracy of repetition remarkably dropped when the normal sentences were both sped up and mixed with noise. Finally, it was observed that the Korean students' percent correct ratio fell down as the stimulus sentence became longer.
In Web environment, a flood of spam causes serious social problems such as personal information leak, monetary loss from fishing and distribution of harmful contents. Moreover, types and techniques of spam distribution which must be controlled are varying as days go by. The learning based spam classification method using Bag-of-Words model is the most widely used method until now. However, this method is vulnerable to anti-spam avoidance techniques, which recent spams commonly have, because it classifies spam documents utilizing only keyword occurrence information from classification model training process. In this paper, we propose a spam document detection method using a characteristic of repeating words occurring in spam documents as a solution of anti-spam avoidance techniques. Recently, most spam documents have a trend of repeating key phrases that are designed to spread, and this trend can be used as a measure in classifying spam documents. In this paper, we define six variables, which represent a characteristic of word repetition, and use those variables as a feature set for constructing a classification model. The effectiveness of proposed method is evaluated by an experiment with blog posts and E-mail data. The result of experiment shows that the proposed method outperforms other approaches.
The main purpose of this paper is to show how Jespersen analyzed the date of English compound related with reduplication. Especially dealing with the compound words he classified the examples related with reduplication as a separate part and attempted to account for the patters based on the structure of the first syllable constituting the initial part of the second element in a compound word. 1 tried to explain the peculiar shape of the reduplicational pattern in English based on the Optimality Theory, especially the method of 'melodic overwriting' of McCarthy(1997). According to the analysis the initial part of the second element of a compound has to be stipulated before reduplication occurs. When the reduplicant has to be decided at the first syllable of the second element, the form which is stipulated to take the position comes to appear at the post instead of repeating the morphemic shape of the first syllable at the first element of the word.

This study looks into the Korean traditional costume formation and the thoughts of the Korean people that form the foundation of that Korean traditional costume formation. And the goal of this study is in linking the thoughts and formative characteristics reflected in the Korean traditional costume formation to the fractal geometry, in an attempt to reveal correlation between Korean traditional costume formation which have existed for thousands of years to contemporary science of the West. The fractal theory that appeared as the new paradigm of contemporary science displayed similarities with the traditional ideologies of Korea, and the fact that formation principles of fractal appear in the formation of Korean costume, formed based on the Korean ideologies, show magnanimous capacity of the traditional Korean culture. When we look at the concept of fractal, the word fractal refers to the structure in which the shape repeats, where small structure is similar to the whole structure in form in endlessly repeating structure. In other words, 'fractal' means a structure that geometrically untangles the concept of 'self-similarity' which possesses the same shape in parts and in whole, and its major characteristics include 'self-similarity', 'circularity' and 'repeatability'. Korean costumes were formed based on the Han-thoughts, with a structure that possesses parts within the whole and the whole within parts, in accordance with the self-similarity theory of 'fractal'. This study compared studied fractal phenomenon which appear in formation characteristics of Korean traditional costume, which were formed based on the Korean traditional ideology, in other words, Korean costume formation and formation principles of fractal geometry were compared studied.

As regards of designing, I chose a simple wall design of repeating pattern of vertical windows, rather than making the building as a glamourous obzet. This kind of approach was intended to pursue strong image of construction company, interchanging and communicating with its confused surrounding. Therefore, I boldly removed parts that I considered needless from the facade, and used simple and easy words clearly implying the organization. Lobby is the face of the building, but since the space is deep and narrow and the reality of lease should be considered, there was limit to give original image to the lobby. Instead, high ceiling is the biggest feature of this space. Doorae Engineering-Construction Corp. is young and energetic company. I wanted to highlight the young and energetic image of the company by crossing tore oblique piece of boards. This doesn't just has a simple function as ceiling, but also work as a major subject in the space. In addition of this powerful space of oblique lines, indirect lighting is used to emphasize the character of territory, continuity and deepness of the space. Character of territory that divides main and supplementary function and main and supplementary moving line is expressed by flow of dimension, and continuity and deepness of space is emphasized by indirect lighting flowing linearly through the crack between the ceiling and the wall.
Named entity recognition tools are used to identify mentions of biomedical entities in free text and are essential components of high-quality information retrieval and extraction systems. Without good entity recognition, methods will mislabel searched text and will miss important information or identify spurious text that will frustrate users. Most tools do not capture non-contiguous entities which are separate spans of text that together refer to an entity, e.g., the entity "type 1 diabetes" in the phrase "type 1 and type 2 diabetes." This type is commonly found in biomedical texts, especially in lists, where multiple biomedical entities are named in shortened form to avoid repeating words. Most text annotation systems, that enable users to view and edit entity annotations, do not support non-contiguous entities. Therefore, experts cannot even visualize non-contiguous entities, let alone annotate them to build valuable datasets for machine learning methods. To combat this problem and as part of the BLAH6 hackathon, we extended the TextAE platform to allow visualization and annotation of non-contiguous entities. This enables users to add new subspans to existing entities by selecting additional text. We integrate this new functionality with TextAE's existing editing functionality to allow easy changes to entity annotation and editing of relation annotations involving non-contiguous entities, with importing and exporting to the PubAnnotation format. Finally, we roughly quantify the problem across the entire accessible biomedical literature to highlight that there are a substantial number of non-contiguous entities that appear in lists that would be missed by most text mining systems.
Objective: The goal of this thesis is to design the interaction structure and framework of system to recognize sign language. Background: The sign language of meaningful individual gestures is combined to construct a sentence, so it is difficult to interpret and recognize the meaning of hand gesture for system, because of the sequence of continuous gestures. This being so, in order to interpret the meaning of individual gesture correctly, the interaction structure and framework are needed so that they can segment the indication of individual gesture. Method: We analyze 700 sign language words to structuralize the sign language gesture interaction. First of all, we analyze the transformational patterns of the hand gesture. Second, we analyze the movement of the transformational patterns of the hand gesture. Third, we analyze the type of other gestures except hands. Based on this, we design a framework for sign language interaction. Results: We elicited 8 patterns of hand gesture on the basis of the fact on whether the gesture has a change from starting point to ending point. And then, we analyzed the hand movement based on 3 elements: patterns of movement, direction, and whether hand movement is repeating or not. Moreover, we defined 11 movements of other gestures except hands and classified 8 types of interaction. The framework for sign language interaction, which was designed based on this mentioned above, applies to more than 700 individual gestures of the sign language, and can be classified as an individual gesture in spite of situation which has continuous gestures. Conclusion: This study has structuralized in 3 aspects defined to analyze the transformational patterns of the starting point and the ending point of hand shape, hand movement, and other gestures except hands for sign language interaction. Based on this, we designed the framework that can recognize the individual gestures and interpret the meaning more accurately, when meaningful individual gesture is input sequence of continuous gestures. Application: When we develop the system of sign language recognition, we can apply interaction framework to it. Structuralized gesture can be used for using database of sign language, inventing an automatic recognition system, and studying on the action gestures in other areas.
Purpose: The time and cost of a project activity exists in a selected mode and there is a quality level for the selected mode, and the time and cost of the current activity is determined by the quality level of the preceding activity. When an activity is a predecessor activity of an activity, it is characterized as a trade-off problem in which the time and cost of the activity are determined according to the quality level of the activity. Methods: A neighbor search heuristic algorithm obtains a solution by (1) randomly determining the mode, quality level, and assignment order for each activity. (2) get a solution by improving the solution by changing the possible modes and quality levels; (3) to find a solution by improving the solution from the point where it is feasible to advance the start time. Here, Case[1] is a method to find the optimal solution value after repeating (1). Case [2] is a method for finding a solution including (1) and (2). Case [3] refers to a method for finding solutions including (1), (2), and (3). Results: It can be seen that the value of the objective function presented by the algorithm changes depending on how the model of the heuristic algorithm is designed and applied. In other words, it suggests the importance of algorithm design and proves the importance of the quality problem of activities in the project schedule. Conclusion: A study significance of the optimization algorithm and the heuristic algorithm was applied to the effect of the quality of the preceding activity on the duration and cost of itself and the succeeding activity, which was not addressed in the project schedule problem.
In this paper, I will explore disparate voices embedded in the interactions of stories in which personal, cultural, historical, and mythical consciousness brings up diverse ideas about the experiences of Native Americans. The accommodation of differences and changes is clearly manifested through the healing ceremony of Tayo, which poses some practical questions: what could be the authentic tradition of Native Americans?; which direction should it be led to? As these questions suggest, Tayo needs to think over and work through the way that Native oral stories will enrich the signification of being Indian within multicultural U. S. society. In other words, Tayo should transfer the oppositional relationship between Anglo and Native American world into an interactive one to bring forth new meanings concerning their interactions. As a hybrid, Tayo begins to recognize that his fragmented consciousness could represent the pervasive but surmountable anxiety about the cultural clash between Native and White Americans. Going through the multiple layers of his stories, Tayo learns that Native Americans need to hold a balanced viewpoint firmly: this demonstrates that storytelling brings restoration and renewal to him. As a result of Betonie's healing ceremony and his intimate relationship with Ts'eh, Tayo comes to have a holistic comprehension about how all the living things are interconnected to one another. After acquiring this recognition, Tayo succeeds in his quest to get back Josiah's cattle and recovers his identity as a Laguna Pueblo Indian, still letting diverse voices, cultures, and stories flow into the process of storytelling. As the last scene in which the conversations among Tayo, Auntie, and Grandmother took place illustrates, Tayo has newly secured a position that will require him to create a new, alternative story, not just repeating previous stories.
