Safety is a major concern in Nuclear Power Plants (NPPs). Piping systems in NPPs are very complex and composed of many components such as tees, elbows, expanders and straight pipes. The high pressure and high temperature water flows inside piping components. As high speed water flows inside piping, the pipe wall thinning occurs in various reasons such as FAC (Flow Accelerated Corrosion), LDIE (Liquid Droplet Impingement Erosion) and Flashing. To inspect the wall thinning phenomenon and protect the piping from damages, piping components are checked by UT measurement in every overhaul. During every overhaul, approximately 200~300 components (40,000~60,000 UT data) are examined in NPPs. There are some methods from EPRI for evaluating wear rate of components. However, only few studies have been conducted to find out the raw data reliability for the wear rate evaluation. Securing the reliable raw data is the key factor for a reasonable evaluation. This paper suggests the reliability analysis method for the repeatedly measured data for wear rate evaluation.
A new control technique is proposed to reduce the distortion of UPS output voltage. The Load of UPS is rectifier which has many harmonics on its output current in many cases. The distortion of output voltage by the harmonics is repeated at the same position in one cycle. Therefore we can assume that the next cycle wave form would be similar to the previous one. The repeated error can be estimated and be compensated by the Multi controller at every sampling times.
Customer clustering method is used to make a TDLP (typical daily load profile) to estimate the quater hourly load profile of non-AMR (Automatic Meter Reading) customer. In this paper, repeated small-sized clustering method is supposed to improve the classifying ability of TDLP. K-means algorithm is well-known clustering technology of data mining. To reduce the local maxima of k-means algorithm, proposed method clusters average load profiles to small-sized clusters and selects the highest error rated cluster and clusters this to small-sized clusters repeatedly to minimize the local maxima.
In this article, the design of the flexible forming process considering die shape compensation using an iterative over-bending method based on numerical simulation was conducted. In this method, the springback shape obtained from the final step of the first forming simulation is compared with the desired objective shape, and a shape error is calculated as a vector norm with three-dimensional coordinates. The error vector is inversely added to the objective surface to compensate both the upper and lower flexible die configurations. The flexible die shapes are recalculated and the punch arrays are adjusted according to the over-bent forming surface. These iterative procedures are repeated until the shape error variation converges to a small value. In addition, experimental verification was conducted using a 2000-kN flexible forming apparatus for thick plates. Finally, the configuration of the prototype obtained from the experiment was compared with the numerical simulation results, which had springback compensation. It is confirmed that the proposed method for compensating for the forming error could be used in the design of flexible forming of thick-curved plates.
In this study, a new refinement technique for 3-dimensional hexahedral element mesh is proposed, which is aimed at the control of mesh density. With the proposed scheme the mesh is refined adaptively to the elemental error which is estimated by 'a posteriori' error estimator based on the energy norm. A desired accuracy of an analysis i.e. a limit of error defines the new desired mesh density map on the current mesh. To obtain the desired mesh density, the refinement procedure is repeated iteratively until no more elements to be refined exist. In the algorithm, at first the regions of mesh to be refined are defined and, then, the zero-thickness element layers are inserted into the interfaces between the regions. All the meshes in the regions, in which the zero-thickness layers are inserted, are to be regularized in order to improve the shape of the slender elements on the interfaces. This algorithm is tested on a simple shape of 2-d quadrilateral element mesh and 3-d hexahedral element mesh. A numerical example of elastic deformation of a plate with a hole shows the effectiveness of the proposed refinement scheme.
Three dimensional thermal cycle analysis of the plunger is carried out in repeated forming process of the TV glass, which is continued work of two dimensional analysis where an efficient method has been proposed. The plunger undergoes temperature fluctuation during a cycle due to the repeated contact and separation from the glass, which attains a cyclic steady state having same temperature history at every cycle. Straightforward analysis of this problem brings about more than 90 cycles to get reasonable solution. An exponential function fitting method is proposed, which finds exponential function to best approximate temperature values of 3 consecutive cycles, and new cycle is restarted with the fitted value at infinite time. Number of cases are analyzed using the proposed method and compared to the result of straightforward repetition, from which one finds that the method always reaches nearly convergent solution within $9{\sim}12$ cycles, but turns around afterwards without further convergence. Two step use is found most efficient, in which the exponential fitting is carried out fer the first 12 cycles, followed by simple repetition, which shows fast convergence expending only 6 additional cycles to get the accuracy within 2 error. This reduces the computation cycle remarkably from 90 to 18, which is 80% reduction. From the parametric studies, one reveals that the overall thermal behavior of the plunger in terms of cooling parameters and time is similar to that of 2 dimensional analysis.
In this study, we proposed a mathematical model that can explain the source of the observed variability of repeated measurement data collected in Korean medicine clinical practice, and conducted a pilot analysis to infer the source of these variability based on our model. Mathematical model was constructed by dividing the observed variations into three components: common time-dependent variations, signal shift, and measurement error. To show the applicability of our model in real data, we analyzed 20 repeated measurement data of Korean clinical indicators in graduate students of Pusan National University Graduate School of Korean Medicine. We showed how to infer each source of variations based on our model and also showed the limitation of inference given the acquired the dataset. On the basis of objective recognition of these source of the variability, we hope that quantitative investigations on these sources for each Korean medicine clinical indicator are made in the future, so that they can be used in the clinical and educational areas of Korean medicine.
This study tried to identify the problems associated with the posture to be analyzed and tried to suggest guidelines for MSDs(Musculoskeletal Disorders) evaluation based on working posture. A total of 50 jobs from 3 different types of industries(electronics, hospitals, automobiles) were used for MSDs evaluation study which was done by 6 observers. Two indexes were applied to identify the problem in this study which were percentage of agreement and counter-time-error rate. Specifically, 'counter-time-error rate' represented a degree of consistency in terms of selecting the posture to be analyzed time after time. Main results of the study were as follows; 1) The average percentage of agreement for representative posture for whole body was relatively higher than that for representative postures for individual body parts, 2) The counter-time-error rate(%) has been reduced as the evaluation process has repeated for the same job. 3) The counter-time-error rate(%) for electronics, hospitals, and automobiles were 63.4%, 61.2%, and 67.3% respectively. 4) The counter-time-error rate(%) for the job with the work cycle of 0.5 to 2 minutes were lower than that of the jobs with the work cycles less than 0.5 minute or greater than 2 minute. 5) The work cycles and the number of trials had significant effects on counter-time-error rate while the types of industries did not have significant effects on counter-time-error rate. Some guidelines could be prepared from the results of the study. Probably, there should have an extension in terms of form and matter for this study in order to have more practical output.
The iterative learning control synthesized in the frequency domain has been utilized for temperature control of a batch reactor. For this purpose, a feedback-assisted generalized learning control scheme was constructed first, and the convergence and robustness analyses were conducted in the frequency domain. The feedback-assisted learning operation was then implemented in a bench scale batch reactor where reaction heat is simulated using an electric heater. As a result, progressive reduction of temperature control error could be obviously observed as batch operation is repeated.
In this paper is Proposed a VSC(variable structure controller) for a high-speed and high-precision position control of a XY Table, which is based on the PI type reaching mode. Also the comparative study between the proposed method and the conventional PID controller is presented as well. Designed and tuned under repeated experiments, the proposed method showed a better reasonable performance than PID controller in the aspect of tracking error.
