모사된 화재의 열적환경에서 열전대를 이용한 온도 측정오차에 관한 실험적 연구 (An Experimental Study on Temperature Measurement Bias using Thermocouple in Simulated Thermal Environments of Fire)

  • An experimental study was conducted to identify the quantitative measurement bias for the bare-bead thermocouple (TC), which was widely used for measuring temperature in fire experiments. To this end, an apparatus could be controlled individually gas flow rate, preheating temperature and incident radiative heat flux was developed to simulate the thermal environments of fire. A relative measurement bias of bare-bead TC was evaluated with the comparison of double-shield aspirated TC. As a result, the relative measurement bias of bare-bead TC was gradually increased with the increase in radiative heat flux with constant gas temperature. The relative bias was also significantly increased with the decrease in gas temperature. Quantitatively, at the gas temperature of $20^{\circ}C$, the bare-bead TC had the relative bias of approximately 400% with the radiative heat flux of $20kW/m^2$ corresponding to thermal radiation level of the flashover. The present study was intend to provide fire researchers with methodologies for the reanalyses of temperature measured using bare-bead TC, radiation corrections, and validation of fire modeling.

  • In this paper, we consider a comparable study on three Bayes procedures for the multivariate normal mean estimation problem. In specific we consider hierarchical Bayes empirical Bayes and robust Bayes estimators for the normal means. Then three procedures are compared in terms of the four comparison criteria(i.e. Average Relative Bias (ARB) Average Squared Relative Bias (ASRB) Average Absolute Bias(AAB) Average Squared Deviation (ASD) using the real data set.

모사된 화재의 열적환경에서 FDS를 이용한 온도 예측오차에 관한 수치해석 연구 (A Numerical Study on Temperature Prediction Bias using FDS in Simulated Thermal Environments of Fire)

  • A numerical study was conducted to identify the predictive performance for the bare-bead thermocouple (TC) using FDS (Fire Dynamics Simulator) in simulated thermal environments of fire. A relative prediction bias of TC temperature calculated from reverse-radiation correction by FDS was evaluated with the comparison of previous experimental data. As a result, it was identified that the TC temperatures predicted by FDS were lower than the temperatures measured by bare-bead TC for the ranges of heat flux and gas temperature considered. The relative prediction bias of TC temperature by FDS was gradually increased with the increase in radiative heat flux and also significantly increased with the decrease in the gas temperature. Quantitatively, at the gas temperature of $20^{\circ}C$, the TC temperature predicted by FDS had the relative bias of approximately -20% with the radiative heat flux of $20kW/m^2$ corresponding to thermal radiation level of the flashover. It is predicted from the present study that more accurate validation of fire modeling will be possible with the quantitative prediction bias occurred in the process of reverse-radiation correction of temperature predicted by FDS.

소지역의 실업률에 대한 상대위험도의 추정에 관한 비교연구 (A comparison study on the estimation of the relative risk for the unemployed rate in small area)

  • 국내의 행정구역상 시군구 등과 같은 소지역에 있어서 실업률에 대한 남녀별 공통 상대위험도를 추정하는데, 추정방법으로 단순한 합동추정, 울프 방법에 기초한 가중추정과 잭나이프 추정들을 고려하고 이 추정 방법들의 효율성을 편의와 평균제곱오차의 개념을 통해서 비교하고자 한다. 이를 위해 2002년 12월 경기지역의 경제활동인구조사 자료를 이용하여 이 지역 내의 24개 시군단위 소지역들의 남녀별 실업률에 대한 상대위험도의 편의 및 평균제곱오차가 본 연구에서 제시된 추정절차에 의해 추정된다. 또한, 이들 추정치들의 안정성과 신뢰성은 상대편의와 상대오차제곱근을 통하여 비교된다. 추정결과 잭나이프 추정이 다른 두 추정들에 비해 매우 효율적임을 보였다.

  • This paper proposes a sequential procedure which can be used to determine a truncation point and run length to reduce or remove bias owing to artificial startup conditions in simulations aimed at estimating steady-state behavior. It is based on the idea of Lyapunov exponent in chaos theory. The performance measures considered are relative bias, coverage, estimated relative half-width of the confidence interval, and mean amount of deleted data.

Codon Usage Patterns of Tyrosinase Genes in Clonorchis sinensis

  • Codon usage bias (CUB) is a unique property of genomes and has contributed to the better understanding of the molecular features and the evolution processes of particular gene. In this study, genetic indices associated with CUB, including relative synonymous codon usage and effective numbers of codons, as well as the nucleotide composition, were investigated in the Clonorchis sinensis tyrosinase genes and their platyhelminth orthologs, which play an important role in the eggshell formation. The relative synonymous codon usage patterns substantially differed among tyrosinase genes examined. In a neutrality analysis, the correlation between $GC_{12}$ and $GC_3$ was statistically significant, and the regression line had a relatively gradual slope (0.218). NC-plot, i.e., $GC_3$ vs effective number of codons (ENC), showed that most of the tyrosinase genes were below the expected curve. The codon adaptation index (CAI) values of the platyhelminth tyrosinases had a narrow distribution between 0.685/0.714 and 0.797/0.837, and were negatively correlated with their ENC. Taken together, these results suggested that CUB in the tyrosinase genes seemed to be basically governed by selection pressures rather than mutational bias, although the latter factor provided an additional force in shaping CUB of the C. sinensis and Opisthorchis viverrini genes. It was also apparent that the equilibrium point between selection pressure and mutational bias is much more inclined to selection pressure in highly expressed C. sinensis genes, than in poorly expressed genes.

  • This article coined a general class of estimators for various measures in normal population when some' a priori' or guessed value of standard deviation a is available in addition to sample information. The class of estimators is primarily defined for a function of standard deviation. An unbiased estimator and the minimum mean squared error estimator are worked out and the suggested class of estimators is compared with these classical estimators. Numerical computations in terms of percent relative efficiency and absolute relative bias established the merits of the proposed class of estimators especially for small samples. Simulation study confirms the excellence of the proposed class of estimators. The beauty of this article lies in estimation of various measures like standard deviation, variance, Fisher information, precision of sample mean, process capability index $C_{p}$, fourth moment about mean, mean deviation about mean etc. as particular cases of the proposed class of estimators.

수열 합성된 나노구조를 갖는 ZnO 에 대한 표면 및 계면 결함의 상대적인 영향 (Relative Influence of Surface and Interfacial Defects in Hydrothermally Grown Nanostructured ZnO)

  • 온도를 달리하여 수열합성 시킨 두 ZnO nanostructure 의 자외선 검출 소자에 대해 표면 결함과 기판과의 계면 결함의 상대적인 영향을 분석했다. 실험은 laser 가 인가된 상태에서 bias voltage sweep rate을 조절하여, 그에 따른 전류-전압 곡선을 통해 이루어졌다. 수열 성장이 적게 된 ZnO nanostructure의 경우 405, 355 nm laser 인가시, bias voltage sweep rate 을 느리게 할 수록, 전류-전압 기울기가 낮아졌으며, 대조적으로 성장이 크게 된 시료의 경우 기울기가 높아졌다. 이에 대한 이유는 계면과 표면 결함 영향의 차이로 발생됨이 고려됐다. 이와 같이 laser 가 인가된 상태에서 bias voltage sweep rate 에 따른 전류-전압 곡선 분석 실험은 M-S-M (Metal-Semiconductor-Metal) 구조를 갖는 수열 성장된 ZnO 의 표면 및 계면 결함을 관찰하는데 도움을 줄 것으로 생각된다.

Shrinkage Estimator of Dispersion of an Inverse Gaussian Distribution

  • In this paper a shrinkage estimator for the measure of dispersion of the inverse Gaussian distribution with known mean is proposed. Also we compare the relative bias and relative efficiency of the proposed estimator with respect to minimum variance unbiased estimator.

시군구 실업자 총계 추정을 위한 설계기반 간접추정법 (Design-Based Small Area Estimation for the Korean Economically Active Population Survey)

  • 본 연구에서는 현행 경제활동인구조사 체계에 근거하여 대영역 내의 시군구 단위 행정자치구역들에 대한 실업통계들을 생산할 수 있는 소지역 추정법이 제안된다. 고려된 소지역 추정량들은 합성 추정량, 복합추정량과 같은 설계기반 간접 추정량들이며 이러한 추정량들에 대한 평균제곱오차 추정식이 경제활동인구조사 체계 하에서 산정되어 시군구 단위 소지역 추정값들에 대한 정확도의 측도로써 활용된다. 2000년 12월 충북지역의 경제활동인구조사 자료로부터 이 지역 내의 10개 시군구 단위 행정자치구역들에 대한 실업자 총계 및 잭나이프 평균제곱오차가 본 연구에서 제시된 추정절차에 의해 추정된다. 시군구 단위 실업자 총계 추정값들의 신뢰성은 이들 추정값들의 상대편향(Relative Bias)과 상대오차제곱근(Relative Root Mean Square Error)에 의해 평가된다. 현행 한국 경제활동인구조사체계 하에서 복합추정량이 다른 추정량들에 비해 매우 안정적임을 밝힌다.
