This paper presents an analytical prediction of Nonlinear characteristics of prestressed concrete bridges by strengthened of externally tendon considering construction sequence, using unbonded tendon element and beam-column element based on flexibility method. Unbonded tendon model can represent unbounded tendon behavior in concrete of PSC structures and it can deal with the prestressing transfer of posttensioned structures and calculate prestressed concrete structures more efficiently. This tendon model made up the several nodes and segment, therefore a real tendon of same geometry in the prestressed concrete structure can be simulated the one element. The beam-column element was developed with reinforced concrete material nonlinearities which are based on the smeared crack concept. The fiber hysteresis rule of beam-column element is derived from the uniaxial constitutive relations of concrete and reinforcing steel fibers. The formulation of beam-column element is based on flexibility. Beam-column element and unbonded tendon element were be involved in A computer program, named RCAHEST (Reinforced Concrete Analysis in Higher Evaluation System Technology), that were used the analysis of RC and PSC structures. The proposed numerical method for prestressed concrete structures by strengthened of externally tendon is verified by comparison with reliable experimental results.

In this study, we examined the bond performance of FRP Hybrid Bars. FRP Hybrid Bars are developed by wrapping glass fibers on the outside of deformed steel rebars to solve the corrosion problem. The surface of the FRP Hybrid Bars was coated with resin and silica sand to enhance its adhesion bonding performance with concrete. Various parameters, such as the resin type, viscosity, and size of the silica sand, were selected in order to find the optimal surface condition of the FRP Hybrid Bars. For the bonding test, FRP Hybrid Bars were embedded in a concrete block with a size of 200 mm3 and the maximum load and slip were measured at the interface between the FRP Hybrid Bar and concrete through the pull-out test. From the experimental results, the maximum load and bond strength were calculated as a function of each experimental variable and the resin type, viscosity and size of the silica sand giving rise to the optimal bond performance were evaluated. The maximum bond strength of the specimen using epoxy resin and No. 5 silica sand was about 35% higher than that of the deformed rebar.

This study is directed to propose a set of reliability based design provisions which gives more rational design for R.C. columns than the current WSD or USD standard design codes. Cornell's MFOSM theory is used for the derivation of the algorithm for the evaluation of uncertainties associated with resistances, whereas the magnitude of the uncertainties associated with load effects are chosen primarily by considering our level of practice. And thus the uncertainties so obtained are applied for the reliability analysis and the derivation of reliability based design criteria. A target reliability(${\beta}_0=4.0$) is selected as an appropriate value by comparing the values used in foreign countries and by analyzing the reliability levels of our current USD and WSD design standars. Then, a set of load and resistance factors corresponding to the target reliability is proposed as a reliability based design provision, and furthermoere a set of allowable stresses for reinforcing steel and concrete having same level of relibity with the corresponding LRFD criteria is also propared for the current WSD design provision. It may be concluded that the proposed LRFD reliability based design provisions and the corresponding allowable stresses give more rational design than the current code for R.C. columns and may be desirable to introdue into the current WSD and USD provision of R.C. column design.
This paper outlines a new strengthening technique for concrete beams using externally unbended high-strength bars. The advantages of proposed method lie in speed and simplicity of construction compared to the alternative strengthening method. Externally unbended reinforcement retains many of the advantages over external unbended prestressed tendons. It eliminates time consuming stressing operations. Clearance requirements around anchorages are reduced as access is not required for prestressing jacks. Test results of eight specimens on reinforced concrete beams using different reinforcement materials such as carbon fiber sheet, steel plate and high-tension bar are reported. The beam strengthened by carbon fiber sheet showed a brittle failure mode due to the separation of fiber. As a result of draped profile of external bar, the maximum strength of the beam were increased by up to 212 percent and the deflections were reduced by up to 65 percent. Test results show that the beams reinforced with high-tension bar are superior to reference specimens, especially for the strength and deformation capacity.
Recently, in construction equipment machinery production, development has focused on environmentally-friendly functions to improve existing production capacity. For excavators as well, emphasis has been placed on response to environmental regulations, miniaturization, and noise reduction, while technology is being developed considering cost reduction and safety.Accordingly, the front support, an inner reinforcement part of the excavator, as well as high-strength steel plates to improve safety and reduce weight, are being applied. However, in the case of high-strength materials, Springback occurs in the final formed part due to high residual stress during product forming. Derivation of a forming or product shaping process to reduce springback is needed. Accordingly, regarding the front support, an inner reinforcement part of the excavator, this study derived a method to improve springback and secure shape stiffness through analysis of the springback occurrence rate and springback causes through a forming analysis. As for the results of analyzing the springback occurrence rate of existing products through forming analysis, springback of -22.6 mm < z < 27.35 mm occurred on the z-axis, and it was confirmed that springback occurred due to the stiffness reinforcing bead of the upper and middle parts of the product. To control product residual stress and springback, we confirmed a tendency of springback reduction through local pre-cutting and stiffness reinforcement bead relocation. In the local pre-cutting model, springback was slightly reduced by 5.3% compared with the existing model, an insignificant reduction effect. In the stiffness reinforcement bead relocation model, when an X-shaped stiffness reinforcement bead was added to each corner portion of the product, springback was reduced by at least 80%.The X-shaped bead addition model was selected as the springback reduction model, and the level of stiffness compared to the existing model was confirmed through a structural analysis. The X-shaped bead additional model showed a stress springback of 90% and springback reduction of 7.4% compared with the existing model, indicating that springback and stiffness will be reinforced.

As increasing number of large-size earthquake, the social interest of seismic retrofitting of RC structure is growing. Especially, the RC columns that are not reflected seismic design can not resist lateral loads by the earthquake. The brittle fracture of Non-seismic designed columns lead to full collapse of the building. Thus, the emergency columns reinforcement method is needed. That have a fast construction time, do not cause damage to the column. In the past, cross-sectional expansion method, a steel plate reinforcing method is applied mainly, but in recent years, carbon fiber sheet taking advantage of FRP (Fiber Reinforced Polymer) is widely used. In this study, retrofitting effect of seismic performance of FRP seismic reinforcement, which is possible to emergency construction, was examined. Reinforced concrete specimens were constructed to experimental study. The seismic performence of specimes retrifitted with FRP seismic reinforcement were evaluated. As a result, the seismic performance of specimen reinforced with FRP seismic reinforcement has been improved.

A new finite element model will be presented to analyze the nonlinear behavior of RC beams and slabs strengthened by a patch repair. The numerical approach is based on the p-version degenerate shell element including theory of anisotropic laminated composites, theory of materially and geometrically nonlinear plates. In the nonlinear formulation of this model, the total Lagrangian formulation is adopted with large deflections and moderate rotations being accounted for in the sense of von Karman hypothesis. The material model is based on hardening rule, crushing condition, plate-end debonding strength model and so on. The Gauss-Lobatto numerical quadrature is applied to calculate the stresses at the nodal points instead of Gauss points. The validity of the proposed p-version nonlinear finite element model is demonstrated through the load-deflection curves, the ultimate loads, and the failure modes of RC beams or slabs bonded with steel plates or FRP plates compared with available result of experiment and other numerical methods.
Still no accurate theory exists for predicting ultimate shear strength of deep reinforced concrete beams because of the structural and material non-linearity after cracking. Currently, the load capacity assesment is performed for the upper structure of the bridges and containing non-reliability in the applications and results. The purpose in this study is to evaluate analytically the complex shear behaviors and normal strength for the reinforced concrete deep beams and to offer the accuracy load capacity assesment method based on the reliability theories. This paper presents a method for the load capacity assesment of reinforcement concrete deep beams using nonlinear finite element analysis. A computer program named RCAHEST (Reinforced Concrete Analysis in Higher Evaluation System Technology), for the analysis of reinforced concrete structures was used. Material non-linearity is taken Into account by comprising tensile, compressive and shear models of cracked concrete and a model of reinforcing steel. From the results, determine the reliability index for the failure base on the Euro Code. Then, calculate additional reduction coefficient to satisfy the goals from the reliability analysis. The proposed numerical method for the load capacity assesment of reinforced concrete deep beams is verified by comparison with the others methods.
This paper is a report about lap splice performance of rebar embedded in the strain-hardening cement-based composites (SHCCs) under monotonic and repeated tension loading. Ten mix proportions of cement-based composites such as SHCCs and normal concrete were investigated. The study parameters are comprised of (1) types of reinforcing fibers (polyethylene and steel fiber), (2) replacement levels of expansive admixture (EXA, 0% and 10%), and (3) compressive strength (30 and 100 MPa) of cement-based composites. Lap splice lengths (ld) of rebars in SHCC materials and normal concrete were 60% and 100% of splice length calculated by code requirements for structural concrete, respectively. Test results indicated that SHCCs materials can lead to enhancements in the lap splice performance of embedded rebar. All of the fiber reinforcement conditions (PE-SHCC and PESF-SHCC) considered in this study produced considerable improvements in the tensile strength, cracking behavior, and bond strength of lap-spliced rebar. Furthermore, adding EXA to SHCC matrix improved the tensile lap splice performance of rebar in SHCC materials. However, for controlling crack behavior, the performance of PE-SHCC was better than that of PESF-SHCC due to its mechanical properties. This study demonstrated an effective approach for reducing required development length of lap spliced rebar by using SHCC materials.
The present investigation evaluates the flexural behavior of pre-tensioned lightweight concrete beams under two-point symmetrical concentrated loads according to the variation of the partial prestressing ratio and the effective prestress of prestressing strands. The designed compressive strength of the lightweight concrete with a dry density of 1,770 $kg/m^3$ was 35 MPa. The deformed bar with a yield strength of 383 MPa and three-wire mono-strands with tensile strength of 2,040 MPa were used for longitudinal tensile reinforcement and prestressing steel reinforcement, respectively. According to the test results, the flexural capacity of pre-tensioned lightweight concrete beams increased with the increase of the partial prestressing ratio and was marginally influenced by the effective prestress of strands. With the same reinforcing index, the normalized flexural capacity of pre-tensioned lightweight concrete beams was similar to that of pre-tensioned normal-weight concrete beams tested by Harajli and Naaman and Bennett. On the other hand, the displacement ductility ratio of pre-tensioned lightweight concrete beams increased with the decrease of the partial prestressing ratio and with the increase of the effective prestress of strands. The load-displacement relationship of pre-tensioned lightweight concrete beam specimens can be suitably predicted by the developed non-linear two-dimensional analysis procedure. In addition, the flexural cracking moment and flexural capacity of pre-tensioned lightweight concrete beams can be conservatively evaluated using the elasticity theorem and the approach specified in ACI 318-08, respectively.
