Perceived values, price fairness, and behavioral intentions toward luxury fashion brands - A comparison of luxury, luxury-bargain, and non-luxury consumers -

  • This study examined whether and how consumers who seek a bargain in their shopping for luxury fashion brands differ from traditional luxury consumers or non-luxury consumers on their market-related attitudes. To do so, this study compared multi-dimensional perceived values, fairness price perceptions, satisfaction with purchase, brand loyalty, and future purchase intention among luxury consumers, luxury-bargain seekers, and non-luxury consumers. Data was obtained from online surveys and the market-related attitudes were compared using an ANOVA test. The comparion of three types of consumers revealed that luxury-bargain seekers and regular luxury consumers are distinct consumer markets. Overall, luxury consumers displayed high perceived values and brand loyalty and were fairly satisfied with the purchase at full-prices. On the other hand, luxury-bargain seekers showed significantly low perceived social value, perceived fairness toward the original price of the brands, and brand loyalty. They were satisfied with the bargain purchase but not likely to purchase the luxury at full-prices in the future. Understanding these distinct types of consumers and targeting them with different product and pricing strategies are important for luxury brands and retailers to expand luxury consumer base without diluting their brands' prestige image. Potential marketing strategies based on the findings of this study were suggested.

Emission Control Routes in Container Shipping between Korea-China

  • Purpose - As the severity of air pollution caused by the shipping industry is becoming evident, port authorities have started making efforts to reduce air pollutants. Considering the limitations of the currently implemented emission-control area (ECA) and vessel-speed reduction program (VSRP), which are narrow in the designation range and navigation behavior of ships, this study proposes an emission-control route (ECR) that can complement the aforementioned two environmental policies. Design/methodology - This study was conducted on Korea-China trade service routes (ports of call) of regular liners. This study employed vessel-specific data, which is from an automatic identification system (AIS), for 1,728 maritime transportations performed by 387 container vessels during one year (July 1, 2021, to June 30, 2022). Performing a scenario analysis, this study analyzed the effectiveness of reduced air-pollutant emissions. Findings - This study found that the implementation of ECRs could increase average voyage time by 12.38%-25.28% but reduced air-pollutant emissions by 29.02%-43.54%. Additionally, the increase in average voyage times reduces the anchorage time of ships outside ports, providing an incentive for ship operators to voluntarily participate in compliance with regulations, thereby contributing to the establishment of a virtuous cycle of air-environmental policies related to ships. Originality/value - This study aims to verify the policy effectiveness by designing an ECR scope for liner trade routes between Korea and China. Therefore, originality and the value of this study includes conceptualizing the ECR system, analyzing its environmental performance, and exploring new policies that can be implemented while complementing existing policies.

DEVELOPMENT OF IDEA HIERARCHY MODEL FOR IDEA GENERATION OF CONSTRUCTION VE

  • Recently, construction projects are very complicated and diverse such as high-rise buildings and big bridges, etc. These complicated projects call for a system which can effectively generate productive ideas and activities. Value Engineering (V.E.) activity within construction projects is a necessity for systematic design management and to improve construction ability. This need in the construction industry has required a regular implementation of VE into construction projects. For this reason; America, South Korea, and some other nations have adopted VE applications which control the baseline investments of the construction projects. The process of VE activity is a preferred system and a reasonable alternative. In particular, idea generation within these projects is an important stage in the VE job plan. In this study, VE idea patterns are extracted through best practice analysis from VE cases of road construction projects. Next, we suggest an idea hierarchy model to be used in conjunction with VE idea patterns. This model is supported by reasonable idea generation in VE activity of construction projects. Finally, this model could possibly be the outcome of successful VE results.

문화유산 보존원칙 수립을 위한 가치의 정의 및 방법론에 대한 시론적 연구 (Preliminary Study on Defining and Assessing Heritage Values for Establishing Conservation Principles)

  • 문화유산의 보존을 사회적 행위로서 이해하고, 보존의 원칙을 수립하는데 있어서 가장 핵심적인 요소는 문화유산이 지닌 가치와 이에 대한 평가이다. 문화유산을 보존하는 이유이자 대상이며 방법을 논하는 핵심요소가 바로 문화유산의 가치인 것이다. 때문에 최근 20년 동안 국외에서는 가치에 대한 연구가 다면적으로 깊이 있게 진행되어 왔지만 국내에서는 가치에 대한 연구가 거의 전무한 상태이다. 이를 보완하기 위해 본 논문에서는 국외에서 진행된 연구내용과 동향을 분석하고, 한국 문화유산이 지니고 있는 가치의 다양한 측면을 개별적으로 정의해 보고자 한다. 그리고 가치측정에 영향을 미치는 요소들을 살펴 본 후에 가치에 중점을 둔 보존원칙의 수립을 위한 방법론을 제시하고자 한다. 우선 서구 유럽에서 19세기에 주관적 입장에서 특정 양식을 선호하고, 예술적 가치를 다른 가치보다 중시하는 가치평가 방식이 19세기 후반과 20세기를 거치면서 어떻게 발전하여왔는지를 살펴봄으로서 가치에 대한 태도가 문화유산의 다양한 가치를 동등한 관점에서 균형 있게 평가하는 방향으로 발전하여 왔음을 고찰하였다. 그러나 다양한 가치를 최대한 동등한 관점에서 존중 하는 데 있어서 가치들 간에 서로 상충할 수 있는 속성이 존재하기 때문에 이들 속성간에 조화를 이룰 수 있는 합리적인 판단과 방법론이 제시되어야 함을 주장하였다. 특히 가치의 평가는 문화유산의 진정성에 대한 판단과 시대적 사회적 요소들에 의해서 언제든지 변화할 수 있기 때문에 가치를 평가하는 데에 영향을 주는 요인들에 대해 늘 인지하고 있어야 한다는 점을 강조하였다. 마지막으로 영국의 보존 정책을 사례로 들어, 어떻게 가치를 평가하고, 가치의 총체인 문화유산의 '중요성(significance)'을 파악하며, 문화유산의 가치에 영향을 미칠 수 있는 요인들을 점검하고, 가치를 최대한 보존할 수 있는 원칙을 수립하는지에 대한 예시를 제시하면서 국내에서도 가치에 중점을 둔 보존단계 및 원칙의 수립을 위한 시론적인 방법론을 제시하였다.

  • This study, investigates the existing theoretical backgrounds in order to examine the behavior of lateral flow owing to the plasticity of soils when unsymmetrical surcharge is worked on polluted soils by the increase of water content compares and analyzes the results measured through model tests. Unsymmetrical surcharge is increased at regular intervals to soil tank made up the polluted soils and then the amounts of settlement, lateral displacement and upheaval are observed. Critical surcharge was decided q$\sub$cr/= 3.42 C$\sub$u/ similar to those had proposed Terzaghi and JHI, and the value of ultimate capacity was decided q$\sub$ult/= 7.71 C$\sub$u/ similar to that of Tschebotarioff and JHI.

Symbolic Algorithm for a System of Differential-Algebraic Equations

  • In this paper, a symbolic algorithm for solving a regular initial value problem (IVP) for a system of linear differential-algebraic equations (DAEs) with constant coeffcients has been presented. Algebra of integro-differential operators is employed to express the given system of DAEs. We compute a canonical form of the given system which produces another simple equivalent system. Algorithm includes computing the matrix Green's operator and the vector Green's function of a given IVP. Implementation of the proposed algorithm in Maple is also presented with sample computations.

  • Vietnams urban middle class is strongly value oriented in its shopping behavior. They want fairly good quality and service, but they also factor price into their considerations. In terms of retail patronage, they demand convenience, good service, attractive display, and especially want extensive choice. Brands must be present in multiple types of outlet, or fragile brand loyalties can be broken. Mini supermarkets have become an important part of the retail scene in the past decade, and have successfully introduced the supermarket concept to Vietnam. Many consumers are integrating mini supermarkets into their regular shopping, and are willing to pay the higher prices to gain the benefits of such shopping. However, the mini supermarkets do not adequately meet some of the things they expect from supermarkets. Large supermarkets are just entering the market, and are likely to capture much of the current mini supermarket customer base.

  • The purpose of this study is to evaluate the compressive strength properties of hardening using the unrefined fly-ash and waste lime and to offer basic data to someone for recycling waste lime Waste limes are tested that specific gravity and pH value and observed microstructure of particle with SEM. The compressive strengths of Wast lime hardening which is mixed with regular ratio according to each admixture are measured. In the results of test, The pH of wast lime is very high by pH 12.1 and specific gravity is 2.22. Compressive strengths on hardening modified waste lime and fly ash is very effective. The vest compressive strengths is show that CaCl$_2$ existed in waste lime

  • Mean shifts may be found in tool wear in machining, drawing, stamping and moulding operations, which make the process quality level deteriorate over time. In such situations, it is necessary to reset or readjust the manufacturing process at regular time basis or by inspection to prevent defective items produced. Although the deterioration rate may be assumed to be linear in a production cycle, there are many cases where the rate varies after resetting due to the variation of tool characteristics or by using the resharpened tools. In such cases, the deterioration rate should not be assumed to be a deterministic constant but a random variable. This paper is to find an optimal resetting period and quality level for such production processes.

  • In Korea small - medium companies constitute 96.6% of all of the mining and manufacturing industries, about 35.2% of the total production of value added business, an average of 35% of the actual export of industrial goods,and 47.7% of employment at the end of 1979. Now then small - medium industry companies organization style constitutes 82.1% of private companies and 82.7% of the total on an small scale under 50 persons in regular empolyees. Small - medium industry Companies have growing problems and bottle-necks in their physical conditions. Total Quality Control is contributed by small - medium industry company for more growth than present conditions. But now, Small - medium industry company do not use systematic application of Quality Control Method, the small - medium business compay products quality is not better as compared with big business Company. Specially, TQC is needed for Small - medium company for imperishable enlargement.
