Pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma is a lethal cancer type that is associated with multiple gene mutations in somatic cells. Genetically engineered mouse is hardly applicable for developing a pancreatic cancer model, and the xenograft model poses a limitation in the reflection of early stage pancreatic cancer. Thus, in vivo somatic cell gene engineering with clustered regularly interspaced short palindromic repeats is drawing increasing attention for generating an animal model of pancreatic cancer. In this study, we selected Kras, Trp53, Ink4a, Smad4, and Brca2 as target genes, and applied Campylobacter jejuni Cas9 (CjCas9) and Streptococcus pyogens Cas9 (SpCas9) for developing pancreatic cancer using adeno associated virus (AAV) transduction. After confirming multifocal and diffuse transduction of AAV2, we generated SpCas9 overexpression mice, which exhibited high double-strand DNA breakage (DSB) in target genes and pancreatic intraepithelial neoplasia (PanIN) lesions with two AAV transductions; however, wild-type (WT) mice with three AAV transductions did not develop PanIN. Furthermore, small-sized Cjcas9 was applied to WT mice with two AAV system, which, in addition, developed high extensive DSB and PanIN lesions. Histological changes and expression of cancer markers such as Ki67, cytokeratin, Mucin5a, alpha smooth muscle actin in duct and islet cells were observed. In addition, the study revealed several findings such as 1) multiple DSB potential of AAV-CjCas9, 2) peri-ductal lymphocyte infiltration, 3) multi-focal cancer marker expression, and 4) requirement of > 12 months for initiation of PanIN in AAV mediated targeting. In this study, we present a useful tool for in vivo cancer modeling that would be applicable for other disease models as well.

The purpose of this study was to explore changes in elementary teachers' modeling pPCK (personal PCK) resulting from knowledge exchange within the realms of PCK described in the Refined Consensus Model (hereafter RCM). For this purpose, a professional learning community (hereafter PLC) was established for three elementary school teachers to facilitate knowledge exchange specifically focused on science modeling instructions. The study then analyzed the CoRe (content representations) written by the research participants twice to explore any changes in modeling pPCK (personal PCK). In addition, the discourse shared by the participants in the PLC and the data from the in-depth interviews were also analyzed using grounded theory research methods. The results of the study showed that there was no significant change in knowledge of the science curriculum in elementary teachers' modeling pPCK, but there were changes in orientations toward teaching science, knowledge of students' understanding in science, knowledge of instructional strategies and representations, and knowledge of assessment of science learning. Furthermore, the analysis of PLC discourse and in-depth interviews showed that modeling instructions reflection (ePCK; enacted PCK) and educational research-based modeling cPCK (collective PCK) influenced these changes in teachers' modeling pPCK. Accordingly, this study suggests recommendations for pedagogical approaches aimed at improving teachers' modeling PCK.

WAVE (Wireless Access in Vehicular Environments) communications is the core technology for C-ITS (Cooperative-Intelligent Transportation System) which communicates with the road infrastructure and other vehicles to exchange traffic information and service while driving. In this paper, to analyze the performance degradation according to the distance between WAVE communication terminals, we derived the formulas for the locations of down-fade and up-fade points by using the two-ray ground reflection model, and verified these theoretical results by comparing with those of RSSI (Receiver Signal Strength Indicator) measurements. In addition, to solve the problem of down-fade, we suggested the WAVE communication with the antenna diversity and experimentally confirmed the performance improvement in the highway LOS (Line Of Sight) environments.

Applicability of the pressure gradient method which is formulated based on pressure gradient is verified against turbulent flow analysis. In the pressure gradient method, pressure gradient instead of pressure itself is obtained using continuity constraint. Since correct pressure gradient is found only when mass conservation is satisfied, pressure gradient method can reflect physics of flow field properly The pressure gradient method is formulated with semi-staggered grid system which locates each primitive variables on the same grid point but evaluates pressure gradient in-between. This grid system ensures easy programming and reflection of correct physics in analysis. For verifying applicability of this method, the pressure gradient method is applied to turbulent flow analysis with low Reynolds number $\kappa$-$\varepsilon$ model. Turbulent flows include fully developed channel flow, backward-facing step flow, and conical diffuser flow. Prediction results show that the pressure gradient method can be applied to turbulent flow analysis. However, the pressure gradient method requires somewhat long computation time. Proper way to find optimum under-relaxation factor, $\gamma$, is also need to be developed.
The purpose of this study was to offer suitable model for performing Tippelt motion and data for training Tippelt motion through the quantitative kinematical analysis of Tippelt motion in parallel bars. The results of analysing kinematic variations through three-dimensional reflection analysis of three members of the national team as the objects of the study were shown as follows. 1. It seemed that the shoulder-joints which are stretched as much as possible affects the whole Tippelt motion while one is swinging downward. The time of process of the center of mass for the body reaching to the maximum flection point should be quick and body's moving from the vertical phase to the front direction should be controled as much as possible. 2. While one is swinging upward, the stability of flying motion could be made certain by the control of body's rapid moving to the front direction and stretching shoulder-joints and hip-joint to reverse direction. 3. While one is flying upward, the body should be erected quickly and lessening the angle of the hip-joint affects the elevation of flight. When the powerful counter turn motion is performed, the stable motion could be made. As a result of this study, It seems that sudden fall and the maximum stretch of shoulder-joints is important during performing Tippelt motion in parallel bars. Also, it concludes that the maximum bending of hip-joints at the starting point of upward swing, sudden stretch to the reverse direction of shoulder-joints and hip-joints when one is leaving bars, control of body's moving to the front direction, and lessening the angle of hip-joints at the flying phase is important.

An analytical procedure to analyze reinforced concrete (RC) beams subject to monotonic loadings is proposed on the basis of the moment-curvature relations of RC sections. Unlike previous analytical models which result the overestimation of stiffnesses and underestimation of structural deformations induced from ignoring the shear deformation and assuming perfect-bond condition between steel and concrete, the proposed relation considers the rigid-body-motion due to anchorage slip at the fixed end. The advantages of the proposed relation, compared with the previous numerical models, are on the promotion in effectiveness of analysis and reflection of influencing factors which must be considered in nonlinear analysis of RC beam by taking into account the nonlinear effects into the simplifying moment-curvature relation. Finally, correlation studies between analytical and experimental results are conducted to establish the applicability of the proposed model to the nonlinear analysis of RC structures.

There are terrestrial signatures of the solar activity cycle in ice core data (Ram & Stoltz 1999), but the variations in the sun's irradiance over the cycle seem too small to account for the signature (Lean 1997; Goode & Dziembowski 2003). Thus, one would expect that the signature must arise from an indirect effect(s) of solar activity. Such an indirect effect would be expected to manifest itself in the earth's reflectance. Further, the earth's climate depends directly on the albedo. Continuous observations of the earthshine have been carried out from Big Bear Solar Observatory since December 1998, with some more sporadic measurements made during the years 1994 and 1995. We have determined the annual albedos both from our observations and from simulations utilizing the Earth Radiation Budget Experiment (ERBE) scene model and various datasets for the cloud cover, as well as snow and ice cover. With these, we look for inter-annual and longer-term changes in the earth's total reflectance, or Bond albedo. We find that both our observations and simulations indicate that the albedo was significantly higher during 1994-1995 (activity minimum) than for the more recent period covering 1999-2001 (activity maximum). However, the sizes of the changes seem somewhat discrepant. Possible indirect solar influences on the earth's Bond albedo are discussed to emphasize that our earthshine data are already sufficiently precise to detect, if they occur, any meaningful changes in the earth's reflectance. Still greater precision will occur as we expand our single site observations to a global network.

In this paper, particle swarm optimization(PSO) is applied for the design of frequency selective surface based artificial magnetic conductor. An equivalent circuit model for this artificial magnetic conductor(AMC) with Jerusalem Cross arrays was derived and then PSO was applied for obtaining the optimized geometrical parameters with desired resonant frequency. The resonant frequency and the reflection phase characteristics from the optimization were compared to the results from commercial software for verifying the validity of this paper. The procedure presented in this paper can be applied to design the AMC with different frequency selective surface and also can be used for the design of microwave circuits like the AMC ground planes.

The growth and microstructural characterization of epitaxial yttrium silicide ($YSi_2$) on the (100)Si substrate are investigated. The $YSi_2$ film grow epitaxilly through the solid phase reaction during vacuum annealing above $400^{\circ}C$. The epitaxial relationships between the hexagonal $YSi_2$ film and the (100)Si substrate are [0001]$YSi_2$//[011]Si and [0001]$YSi_2$//[011]Si in the (1100)$YSi_2$//(100)Si plane relation. The YSi$_2$ film consists of the two types of domains which have two different azimuthal orientations making an angle of $90^{\circ}$ to each other. The two types of domains in the $YSi_2$film are equivalent in volume fraction and crystalline quality, which has been proved from the equivalent integrated intensities of (2201) asymmetric reflection of X-ray diffraction. The formation of a double -domain structure is discussed on the basis of geometrical matching at interface between the (1100)$YSi_2$ film and the (100)Si substrate, and growth model is proposed.
In this paper, we present an optimization method for the single Dallenbach-layer type microwave absorbers composed of E-glass fabric/epoxy composite laminates. The composite prepreg containing carbon nanotubes (CNT) was used to control the electrical property of the composites laminates. The design technology using the genetic algorithm was used to get the optimal thicknesses of the laminates and the filler contents at various center frequencies, for which the numerical model of the complex permittivity of the composite laminate was incorporated. In the optimal design results, the content of CNT increased in proportion to the center frequency, but, on the contrary, the thickness of the microwave absorbers decreased. The permittivity and reflection loss are measured using vector network analyzer and 7 mm coaxial airline. The influence of the mismatches in between measurement and prediction of the thickness and the complex permittivity caused the shift of the center frequency, blunting of the peak at the center frequency and the reduction of the absorbing bandwidth.
