Objective: This study was conducted for the nationwide statistical survey of poison exposure to provide the rationale for establishing and developing the poison control center (PCC) in Korea. Design: Study group for Korea PCC in National Medical Center reviewed the medical literature on poison exposure of Korea from death reports of National Statistical Office (NSO), the toxic exposure statistics from the report of National Health Insurance Corporation (NHIC), and poison related data from 119 ambulance services (FD) for the purpose of obtaining the poison and its related data. We also conducted questionnaire from the expert who work in emergency medicine department at the designated 320 emergency medical centers in Korea for the preparedness and acknowledgement about necessity of PCC and their need for that. Results: We reviewed the reliable data from the death report of NSO, poison exposure data from NHIC, and running report from FD. Poisoning death occured at home ($36.7\%$) and hospital ($46.3\%$). Poisoning are more common in rural area than the city area. Patients were seen more frequently in the local clinics than in any hospital. The drugs ($45.7\%$) and pesticide ($18.1\%$) are common poison. Common place to poison exposure were residential area ($39.9\%$), industry ($9\%$). mass residential area ($7\%$). and farm ($6\%$). The education level were primary school ($33.2\%$), high school ($23.7\%$), and middle schol ($21.3\%$) in order. We have to provide the poison guideline for lay public to understand easily, and for medical experts. The medical facilities need to be invested and have more interest for toxicology. All medical staff who work in the designated emergency medical center want PCC to establish. They want to have poison information from hospital ($91.3\%$), regional poison information center ($45.0\%$), regional poison control center ($52.5\%$), nationwide poison information center ($48.8\%$), nationwide poison control center ($46.25\%$), as a role of poison control center. They also want that pcc have poison epidemiologic study and statstics, training program for the experts, registration of rare case of posion on website, reflection of policies to activities for antidote production etc., speedy consultation system for poison analysis, public education, establishment of both regional and national pee, etc. Conclusion: Poison center must be established to provide poison information for all the public and medical experitise, focusing rural area and private clinic, to detoxify, to reduce the cost, time, morbity, and mortality through the whole country.
The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of the film 'The Island' on 2nd year nursing students' nursing informatics (NI) competency. The participants were sixty-eight students in a baccalaureate nursing program of a private university, taking the course, 'Nursing & Informatics' in the 2012 fall semester. Over the 15 weeks, the film was used for five weeks as introduction to NI, peer-to-group discussions, and self-reflection on lessons learned regarding NI. A qualitative content analysis was used to explore the students' experiences and perceptions on their NI competency. As a result, students signified the NI concept as the assessment of biometrics data, promotion of optimal health with the support of various technologies, and integration of patient-centered care into routine practice. They also highlighted the importance of security and safety measures as well as high quality health technology including the ubiquitous health monitoring system. Overall, the lesson outcomes of the course were met. As a supportive, instructional strategy, the use of the movie, 'The Island', was effective for nursing students in achieving NI competencies. Further study is warranted to determine if movies can be used as a means of continuing education to improve informatics competences in healthcare professionals.
Summary. Most of American pop music, which are dominating the hegemony of the global pop music market, have been derived from the culture of African Americans, most of whom were slaves of European immigrants. The music of black slaves must be the one of the greatest undisputed achievements that have most influenced the American history. Indeed, All of the mainstream pop music works around the world, including those in America, are the descendants of the black music with the gene of the black people. We can say, therefore, the music born through the Afro-American culture has become the music that every person around the world enjoys in the present. Accordingly, K-Pop music culture, centered in idol group, is also based on the black music. This fact suggests that the K-Pop culture can be spread into people in different customs or traditions with little resistance. The success factor of Motown, at the very center of the black music, which integrated the whole global music, is not only their incredibly outstanding music works, but also the self-consciousness the musicians have that they are strongly reluctant to settle down to present reality. This shall lead to the necessity of self-reflection for the Korean music market, which are obsessed with present popularity and only taking advantage of teenager market, and for those engaged in music business in Korea, who are lack of the artistic value and the consciousness as artist.

The purpose of this study is to develop and evaluate the effect of a teaching-learning plan for teaching about Hanbok to high school students. Results of this study are as follows. First, learning themes in the teaching-learning plan were selected so that the learning objectives could be achieved by gradually advancing from understanding to exploring and finally practicing. Teaching and learning activities for conceptual classes focused on students' exploration and thinking processes. For Making project, students were asked to complete a group artwork using characteristics and images of Hanbok while applying creative thinking and collaboration. Second, the teaching-learning plan was evaluated by comparing students' pre- and post-test scores of knowledge in, perception of, and attitude toward Hanbok; and by analyzing students' journal of reflection and teacher's observation diary. The mean scores of high school student' knowledge, perception and attitude of the post-test were significantly higher than those of pre-test. The content analysis showed that students gained extensive knowledge toward Hanbok and found new values through their classes. Making practices with generation of creative ideas and collaboration has been effective in training a self-directed and a creative learner.
KACIS was established in 1988 for critical academic movement in communication area. For 20 years after establishment, KACIS has grown into major academic society. The purpose of this article is reflection on the history of KACIS for 20 years. For this, this article review three areas on KACIS. First, It examine how critical academic movement that was initiated in middle of 1980s was changed in gear with Korean Society's shift. Second, It turn around the activity of 'Korean study group for society and communication', the predecessor of KACIS, which operate during $1988{\sim}1998$. Third, it consider KACIS's activity after convert to association, during $1998{\sim}2008$. When look back to 20 years of KACIS, first of all, the biggest fruit is to extend critical communication in academic area. However, several controversies exist about KACIS's identity. Conclusively, this article emphasize, for further development, organizing organic academic conference about social pending issue, strengthening journal's identity, fostering future academic generation, vitalizing research divisions.
Objectives: The purpose of this study was to develop a standard instrument of diagnosis and assessment for spleen qi deficiency pattern. Methods: Reports published in Korea and China related to spleen qi deficiency pattern were selected. Assessments of selected references were performed to select major symptoms of spleen qi deficiency pattern. Korean translation and review by a Korean linguist were performed to create a draft of [Standard instrument of diagnosis and assessment for spleen qi deficiency (for subject)]. The final [Standard instrument of diagnosis and assessment for spleen qi deficiency (for subject)] was completed after assessment on inclusion or exclusion, on importance of items and on validity of translation by an expert committee, consisting of professors from the National College of Korean Medicine. Results & Conclusions: 1. 14 major symptoms were selected by frequency from 45 references which were related to standard identification of spleen qi deficiency pattern, translated into Korean and reviewed by a Korean linguist. 2. 11 symptoms were selected after assessment on inclusion yes or no by the expert group. Items were listed in order of importance: tiredness of extremities (肢体倦怠), sallow complexion (面色萎黃), reduced appetite (食欲减退), abdominal distension after eating (腹胀食後尤甚), inability to eat (納少), pale tongue and white fur (舌淡苔白), lethargy (神疲), emaciation (消瘦), loose stool (大便溏薄), shortness of breath and reluctance to speak (少氣懶言), and weak pulse (脈緩弱). 3. Final [Standard instrument of diagnosis and assessment for spleen qi deficiency (for subject)] was completed after assessment of translation validity, reflection of individual opinions by the expert committee, and application of weighted value computed from assessment on importance of items.
In general, curriculum is a product of the process of a political decision-making among a variety of peoples who have different perspectives on learners, knowledge, and society as a whole. And also, it is being affected by larger social and political contexts. As curriculum has become more a centerpiece of program activity for the gifted, the field has more emphasized the importance of viable curriculum models. The purpose of this article is to reflect current status of curriculum development for the gifted, explain the commonness and differences of several perspectives on gifted education programs, and lastly, share some experiences to deliberate about several critical issues of which any activity of program development for the gifted should consider. According to Eisner & Valiance (1974), there are five conceptions of curriculum which have shaped the thinking of many educators of what a view of curriculum for the gifted might be ; curriculum as the development of cognitive process, curriculum as technology, curriculum as personal relevance, curriculum as social construction, curriculum as academic rationalism. Although educators have a freedom to choose among these various curriculum orientations, the most effective curricular incorporate or balance all of them to some extent. After reviewing those perspectives on curriculum and several difficulties which are currently confronted at the site of curriculum development, this article have tried to identify the major curriculum efforts of the gifted education field. It focuses on the issues of developing programs for gifted and talented students, rather than on specific program models. As a result, it suggested seven critical issues or value conflicts which should be considered in the process of program development for the gifted: the balance of domain-general abilities of the gifted and domain-specific abilities, mutual consideration of accelerated learning and enrichment learning, separate organization of contents versus integrated organization, the balance of cognitive domain of human development and affective domain, official curriculum versus non-official education experience, individual-oriented learning situation versus group-oriented teaming, and expert-centered approach versus practitioner-centered approach to curriculum development.
Kon Satoshi is a representative animation film director who explores human's intrinsic self-identity based on ambivalence and delivers a message for self-reflection of entity. The aim of this study is to analyze the persona of character according to the way how a self incorporates with another self in his film; that is to say, how a mask of the personality expresses and realizes itself from the perspectives of the Jung's analytical psychology. The persona, defined as the upmost external personality, involves social behavior playing a specific role to establish constant relationship with others in a society. With increasing demand in a society, individuals get to adapt to outer environment by playing his/her given role in various masks of personality. In this way, although persona acts as a major function in relationship with outer world, it would exert a negative influence on formation of self-identity because of the inconsistency between consciousness and unconsciousness when immersed only in mask of personality, complying excessively with the demand of group. However, persona does not always have a negative effect on relationships. Developed adequately to fulfill its social function, persona is helpful to establish a healthy self-identity with balanced control between inner world of unconsciousness and outer world of consciousness. From these perspectives, this study can identify how the desire of mask hidden inside of each character expresses to function in a positive or negative way by analyzing characters in the film according to integrated pattern and correlation between consciousness and unconsciousness. Additionally, I hope that the psychological research methods in this study will be full of help for interpreting on a character analysis as a theoretical approach.
The shortest path problems(SPP) are critical issues in the military logistics such as the simulation of the War-Game. However, the existing SPP has two major drawbacks, one is its accuracy of solution and the other is for only one solution with focused on just link cost in the military transportation planning models. In addition, very few previous studies have been examined for the multi-shortest path problems without considering link capacity reflecting the military characteristics. In order to overcome these drawbacks, it is necessary to apply the multi-shortest paths algorithm reflecting un-expected military incidents. This study examines the multi-shortest paths in the real networks using Shier algorithm. The network contains both military link capacity and time-based cost. Also, the modes are defined as a platoon(group) rather than unit which is used in most of previous studies in the military logistics. To verify the algorithm applied in this study. the comparative analysis was performed with various sizes and routes of network which compares with Dijkstra algorithm. The major findings of this study are as follows ; 1) Regarding the unique characteristics of the military transportation plan, Shier algorithm, which is applied to this study, is more realistic than Dijkstra algorithm. Also, the time based concept is more applicable than the distance based model in the military logistics. 2) Based on the results from the various simulations of this study the capacity-constraint sections appeared in each scenarios. As a consequence, the alternatives are necessary such as measures for vulnerable area, improvement of vehicle(mode), and reflection of separated-marching column in the military manuals. Finally. the limits and future research directions are discussed : 1) It is very hard to compare the results found in this study. which is used in the real network and the previous studies which is used in arbitrary network. 2) In order to reflect the real military situations such as heavy tanks and heavy equipment vehicles. the other constraints such as the safety load of bridges and/or the height of tunnels should be considered for the future studies.
This study explores how to implement a learning experience-based professionalism program for a medical students and evaluates its program through effectiveness and usability test. This study aims to provide practical implications for experience-based learning in an undergraduate level. Seventy four first-year medical students enrolled in PDS1(Patient-Doctor-Society 1): professionalism, one-week block (30 hours), one-credit program based on a experience-based learning model. All of the students were given six learning themes and learning resources and supporting tools, and conducted stepwise learning activities; preparation, organization, sharing, reflection and evaluation of experiences. The effectiveness of learning was evaluated by comparing the pre and post results of student's self-assessment on 24 questionnaire items about professionalism. After the course, the students and instructors conducted a usability evaluation of the program through questionnaires or group interviews. Learners' self-assessment results of professionalism such as leadership, self-directed learning, professional attitude, and social accountability all showed significant differences between the pre- and post-test. Satisfaction of the program was distributed to 3.58~3.78 according to items. Instructors and learner interviews confirmed practical usability throughout the course design, implementation and students evaluation. The results of the study showed the feasibility of implementing learning experience-based professionalism program in medical school. This study provides practical implications to develope and evaluate the learning experience-based professionalism program in medical education.
