An Application study for corrugated structural plate under the railway (철도하부 통과 구간의 파형강판의 적용성 검토 연구)

  • Corrugated structural plate is ductile structural member which has high sectional properties compared with same thickness of plate. Corrugated plate resists the external forces by the combined action of retained soils and structures. Since it is easy to transport and assemblage of in-situ, the duration and cost of construction can be reduced. Corrugated plate structures, therefore, are widely used in culverts, hydro passages and simple bridges. RC culvert with supported by unstable soil layersin railway construction project of pohang${\sim}$samchuk has been replaced by corrugated plate culvert due to the reduction of construction duration and cost, especially the performance of behavior of settlement of ground. The structural analysis, design processes, and the economic advantages of the corrugated plate culvert are studied in this paper.

  • After Kyoto Protocol was adopted for green gas reduction, each nations are stepping up efforts to reduce $CO_2$ of a typical green gas. Construction industry also is trying $CO_2$ reduction with the techniques of two types which are software and hardware techniques. The software technique are Passive Design considered green gas emission and the environment impact assessment by LCA. The hardware techniques are adjustment of equipment system and development of eco- friendly material. But, it is nonexistent that a study related to $CO_2$ emission considered detail process in construction industry. This study analyzed the correlation of equipment combination, $CO_2$ emission and duration by calculate $CO_2$ emission follow to equipment combination on earth-work which is the process emitted most $CO_2$ among railway bedding construction.

  • It is necessary to select proper reduction methods and to calculate reasonably reduction amount for making good practice of the reduction scheme. Moreover, it is suggested that the reduction amount have to be distributed properly during the planning period. In other words, it has not to be concentrated on the specific year (especially final year of the planning period). The reason why, if the reduction amount concentrate on the final year of the planning period, allotment loading amount could not be achieved in some cases (e.g., insufficiency of budget, extension of construction duration). Even though much of the budget have been supported from national treasury (about 50%), it is thought the role of the local government must be strengthened gradually.

  • Recently, the development of alternative energy technologies has been actively conducted for energy conservation and CO2 emission reduction. Especially, photovoltaic energy has been applied practically in construction industry, and research on the building-integrated photovoltaic system (BIPV) that can replace fossil fuel for building operation and maintenance has been performed. However, this vibrant research has been limited to the use phase of buildings, and few studies have been carried out in the construction phase. The construction duration and the scale of the sites have increased along with the high-rise trend of buildings, and it is forecasted that the temporary electricity use and CO2 emission in the construction phase is increasing. In sight of these developments, this research analyzed applicability of the photovoltaic system for the construction phase that can replace the electricity used on the high-rise construction site.

  • In this study, revelation performance of concrete at early age according to types of cement, water reducing ratio of high performance superplasticizer and mixing of accelerator for early hydration was examined aiming for reduction of construction period of framework through securing strength at early age of concrete. It was observed that strength at early age, 5MPa in 12hours, 14MPa in 18hours, is secured by early strength improvement type cement and using promotion admixture for early hydration which are Sodium persulfate, Potassium hydroxide. Therefore cost reduction is expected to be possible in construction site by reducing construction period of frame work.

  • The decision of the Form removal time which leads the early assuring strength of the concrete from Apartment construction is the fact which is important from Reducing the period of works and the economical efficiency side. Especially, with Complex building of recent times the same Tall building and Multiple Apartment Site which only follows in upgrade of interior construction of apartment site and shortening the frame construction period becomes very, importantly is the actual condition where the effort which is various for this is attempted. But is caused by with limit and economical efficiency problem of case concrete early strength revelation of most and is not put to practical use is the actual condition. Develops concrete mixture which is a utility from the research which sees hereupon and the effect which is economic leads construction duration shortening under maximizing boil.

Computation of Areal Reduction Factor and its Regional Variability

  • Areal Reduction Factor(ARF) has been developed and used to convert point Rainfall intensity-Duration-Frequency(I-D-F) to areal I-D-F in many countries. In Korea, though ARF was estimated in Han river basin by several researchers, it has some limitations to apply to other regions due to low denisity of rainfall gauging station and shortage of data. In this study ARF has been developed in area of relatively high density of rainfall gauging station, i.e., Pyungchang river(Han river), Wi stream(Nakdong river), and Bochung stream(Guem river) basin by geographically fixed-area method. And coefficient of variation of mean annual precipitation was presented to use ARE in other areas and its applicability was analyzed.

  • Korea residential housing generally use wet floor heating system 'Ondol' which consist of insulation cushioning, lightweight foamed concrete, hot water pipe and mortar on top of reinforced concrete slab. Wet floor heating system's installation process is too complicate and difficult to supervise field for continuing assurance quality. Also, this method has a huge impact on the progress of construction because it take a long time to cure finishing mortar and lightweight foamed concrete. Therefore, it is considered a disturbance factor of reduction of construction duration for enhancing competitiveness. In this study, we conducted an experiment about the radiant heat performance and temperature difference on upper panel of rolled dry floor heating systems which is jointly developed by Kolon global and Sumisho Metalex for remodeling housing, studio apartment and the urban-life housing.

  • Modular construction has benefits such as short construction duration and high productivity owing to the production in factory and owing to simultaneous on-site work. However, rework occurs in modular construction and the rework affects the efficiency of modular construction. The almost of causes of rework are exist in design process. To reduce the cause of rework, the information flow of the design process should be managed and the plan to reduce rework should be included. However, the modular construction has complex process because of impeded unit production so it is hard to manage the information flow in design process. Moreover, when the plan to reduce rework is included, the design process will be more complicated. Therefore, the objective of this research is to suggest the design process including the rework reduction plan and to alleviate the complexity of design process by using Dependency Structure Matrix(DSM). By using DSM, the iteration and feedback in design process is reduced and it can be expected that rework in modular project can be reduced by using suggested design process.

A Study on the Productivity Analysis of Deck Plate Installation Work in Steel Structure Construction (철골조 데크플레이트 공사의 생산성 분석에 관한 연구)

  • Deck plates have been widely used for steel framework due to their merits in terms of schedule reduction and work repetition. For this reason, most of the previous studies related to deck plates have focused on the development of form type and their constructability. In this study, through an actual case study and interviews with experts, a simulation model was developed using the CYCLONE method. Based on this model, this study not only analyzed the productivity of the work process of the deck plate in steel framework, but also identified the occurrence of idle time in the work process. In addition, using a sensitivity analysis, productivity and duration could be analyzed according to variation of input resources. Based on the results, this paper suggests a way to improve the productivity of deck plate work in steel frameworks. Using the model, it is expected that project managers would be able to predict the productivity and total duration of the deck plate work in the early project phase, which will enable managers to make an appropriate plan for input resources.
