To improve limitations of fuzzy PI controllers especially when applied to systems of order higher than one, we propose a fuzzy PI controller that takes out appropriate amounts of accumulated control input according to fuzzily described situations in addition to the calculation of incremental control input as in the case of conventional fuzzy PI controllers. The structure of the proposed controller was motivated by the characteristics of fuzzy PI controller that it generally gives inevitable overshoot when one tries to reduce rise time of the response especially when a system of order higher than one is under consideration. Since the undesirable characteristics of the fuzzy PI controller is caused by integrator of the controller, even though the integrator is introduced to overcome steady state error of response, we propose a controller that fuzzily clears out integrated quantities according to situation to give reduced rise time as well as small overshoots. To show the usefulness of the proposed controller, it is applied in simulations to such systems as are difficult to stabilize or difficult to get satisfactory responses by conventional fuzzy PI controllers.
We deal with robust control problem for singularly perturbed linear systems with norm-bounded structured uncertainty under state constraints. We assume that the norm-bounded uncertainty is composed of repeated scalar-block and full-block forms. In the structured uncertainty, repeated scalar block forms account for uncertain physical parameter value and full-block forms may be some unknown nonlinear dynamics. In order deal with uncertainty and state constraints, we use LMI(Linear Matrix Inequality). The original problem is decomposed into two well behaved reduced order problems. Shinc two LMI problems are completely independent, each solution can be computed simultaneously and work in parallel.
Tin oxide films have been grown employing the chemical vapor deposition technique under reduced pressure conditions using tetramethyltin as the precursor and oxygen as the oxidant. An activation energy derived for the deposition reaction under representative deposition conditions has a value of 89±3 kJ mol-1, suggesting a typical kinetic control. Deposition rates of tin oxide films exhibit a near first order dependence on tetramethyltin partial pressure and a zeroth order dependence on oxygen partial pressure. This study provides the first quantitative information about the growth kinetics of tin oxide films from tetramethyltin by the cold-wall low-pressure chemical vapor deposition.
In order to study the quarantine and sanitization methods for dried red pepper, comparative effects of commercial fumigation (methyl bromide/MeBr, $phosphine gas/PH_{3}$ and gamma irradiation (5, 10 kGy) were investigated in terms of its physicochemical properties. There were no noticeable chances in pH and soluble solids among the untreated control, irradiated and fumigated samples soon after treatments, but some decrease was found in stored samples (especially soluble solid in fumigated samples) for 8 months under room temperature. Total sugar content was influenced by storage time rather than both treatments. Immediately after treatments, reducing sugar content was significantly reduced in the samples including pericarp when exposed to fumigants (p<0.05), while an apparent decrease was observed in the stored samples including seeds with negligible differences among treatment groups. The electron donating ability (EDA) of the extracts was high in the order of pericarp, whole pepper, powdered pepper and seeds, which was reduced during storage for 8 months particularly in the samples containing seeds. The EDA of irradiated samples during storage was equal to that of the control sample, whereas that of fumigated samples was relatively low (p<0.05).
This paper deals with robust control problems of linear systems with matched nonlinear uncertainties. In order to handle the uncertainties, a Lyapunov min-max control approach can usually be adopted. By the way, the min-max control input is required to be switched and provokes chattering phenomena which limit the practical implementation. The magnitude of switching control input which cause chattering is dependent on the size of uncertainties. In this paper, it is shown that the magnitude of the min-max control input can be made small using a well-known disturbance observer technique and only considers the disturbance observing errors. The chattering phenomena can be reduced as small as possible by selecting a high diturbance observer gain. The simulations show that the min-max control with a disturbance observer can reduce chattering phenomena much smaller and guarantee much better robust performance rather than the one without a disturbance observer.

The simplified dynamic models of the timer assembly in the diesel engine fuel injection system were developed. The first order system with time delay was assumed and the various parameters in this model were obtained by experimental data. These simplified dynamic models were used for the development of control algorithm of the injection timing control system. The PI control algorithm was modified to include the anti-windup property and disturbance compensation. This modified PI control algorithm was used for the control of the injection timing. Improved control accuracy and reduced control efforts were observed.
This paper is on weighted model reduction using structurally balanced truncation. For a given weighted(single or double-sided) transfer function, a state space realization with the linear fractional transformation form is obtained. Then we prove that two block diagonal LMI(linear matrix inequality) solutions always exist, and it is possible to get a reduced order model with guaranteed stability and a priori error bound. Finally, two examples are used to show the validity of proposed weighted reduction method, and the method is compared with other existing methods.
In this paper, a robust reduced order adaptive controller is proposed based on Internal Model Control(IMC) structure for stochastic linear stable systems. The concept of gain margin is utilized to make the adaptive IMC controller robust. We prove the stability of the proposed adaptive IMC system for stable plants under the assumption that upper bounds for system orders are known. Simulation results show that the proposed method has good performance and stability robustness.
There are several potential error sources that can affect the estimation of the position of an object using combined vision and acceleration measurements. Two of the major sources, accelerometer dynamics and random noise in both sensor outputs, are considered. Using a second-order model, the errors introduced by the accelerometer dynamics are reduced by the smaller value of damping ratio and larger value of natural frequency. A Kalman filter approach was developed to minimize the influence of random errors on the position estimate. Experimental results for the end-point movement of a flexible beam confirmed the efficacy of the Kalman filter algorithm.
Blow molding is a manufacturing process in which thermoplastic preforms are preheated and then pneumatically expanded within a mold to produce hollow products of various shapes. The two-step process, a type of blow molding method, requires the output of multiple infrared lamps to be adjusted individually, so the process of finding initial conditions hinders productivity. In this study, digital twin technology was applied to solve this problem. A blow molding simulation technique was established and simulation-based metadata was generated. A response surface ROM (Reduced Order Model) was built using the generated metadata. Then, a dynamic ROM was constructed using the results of 3D heat transfer analysis. Through this, users can quickly check the product wall thickness uniformity according to changes in the control value of the heating lamp for products of various shapes, and at the same time, check the temperature distribution of the preform in real time.
