  • Recently, many cleaning robots have been made with various algorithms for efficient cleaning. One of them is a DmaxCoverage algorithm which efficiently clean for the situation when the robot has a time limit. This algorithm uses Rectangle Tiling method for finding the biggest rectangle that doesn't have any obstacle. When the robot uses grid map, Rectangle Tiling method can find the optimal value. Rectangle Tiling method is to find all of the rectangles in the grid map. But when the grid map is big, it has a problem that spends a lot of times because of the large numbers of rectangles. In this paper, we propose Four Direction Rectangle Scanning(FDRS) method that has similar accuracy but faster than Rectangle Tiling method. FDRS method is not to find all of the rectangle, but to search the obstacle's all directions. We will show the FDRS method's performance by comparing of FDRS and Rectangle Tiling methods.

  • We studied the optimization method of sensing part for measuring heart rate in wrist. In order to know optimum structure of sensing part, we measured the heart rate signal by changing the shape and size of sensor pad structure and the thickness of silicon. The shapes of structure using in experiment are Empty, Rectangle, Embossing, Length, Width. We were compared the amplitude of output signal about each shape when thickness of silicon pad is increasing from 0 to 7 mm by 1 mm.

  • In this paper we prove two results about tilings of orthogonal polygons. (1) P be an orthogonal polygon with rational vertex coordinates and let R(u) be a rectangle with side lengths u and 1. An orthogonal polygon P can be tiled with similar copies of R(u) if and only if u i algebraic and the real part of each of its conjugates is positive; (2) Laczkovich proved that if a triangle $\Delta$ tiles a rectangle then either $\Delta$ is a right triangle or the angles of $\Delta$ are rational multiples of $\pi$. We generalize the result of Laczkovich to orthogonal polygons.

  • In this paper, we have characterizations of idempotent matrices over general Boolean algebras and chain semirings. As a consequence, we obtain that a fuzzy matrix $A=[a_{i,j}]$ is idempotent if and only if all $a_{i,j}$-patterns of A are idempotent matrices over the binary Boolean algebra $\mathbb{B}_1={0,1}$. Furthermore, it turns out that a binary Boolean matrix is idempotent if and only if it can be represented as a sum of line parts and rectangle parts of the matrix.

  • The effect of blank holding force on thickness variation in simultaneous sheet forming with rectangular shape and circular has been demonstrated. Because has investigated an effect on formability of magnesium sheet, in this paper, the effect of punch radius on formability have been thinning, various crack phenomena and forming velocity. By simultaneously forming process with circular and rectangular shape, the data of simultaneously forming process with circular and rectangular shape will used to a part development such as notebook computer case, cell phone and bipolar plate of fuel cell.

  • Laser surface texturing (LST) methods are widely applied now to reduce friction and improve reliability of machine components such as thrust bearings, mechanical face seals and piston rings, etc. In this paper, the effect of dimple shapes on the lubrication characteristics of parallel thrust bearing are studied using a commercial computational fluid dynamics (CFD) code, FLUENT. Pressure and streamline distributions, variations of supporting load, leakage flow rate and friction force, are compared for three different dimple sectional shapes such as circle, pyramid and rectangle type. The lubrication characteristics are highly affected by dimple shapes and number of dimples. The pyramid type dimple shape can support the highest load while the rectangle type is the best in friction reduction.

  • In reverse engineering (RE) sustems, the quality of the data aquisition process is crucial to the accuracy of the reverse engineered three dimensional computer-aided design (CAD) model. However, these tasks are predominantly done manually, and little work has been done to improve the efficiency of scanning by determining the minimum number of scans and the optimal scanning directions. In this paper, new scanning and registration methods using tooling balls are developed to assist in determining the optimal parameter for these processes. When the object to scanned has no concavity, attaching path of the object and its bounding rectangle are used for optimal scanning and registration. Then minimum number of tooling balls and their positions are calculated automatically. In the case of concave parts, the scanning plan should include a complete scan of the concave area. With the surface normal vector and the scanning direction, the minimum degree of rotating the part can be calculated. But the maximum rotation should be restricted in order to prevent occlusion of the part. Finally tow sample part ar scanned based on the proposed methods and the results are discussed.

  • Objectives: The aims of this study are to design a optimized mechanical structure of digital tongue imaging system (DTIS) equipped with LEDs in aspects of object distance and camera angle of coverage. Methods and Results: We tried to find optimized object distance while recording a rectangular object of common tongue size. In case object distance is 22 cm or less, edge of the rectangle was not taken beyond the shooting range. In contrast, if object distance is 40 cm or more, the rectangle image was too small. Therefore when considering the variation of subjects, we selected distance of 35-40 cm as appropriate object distance for the DTIS. We also tried to find optimized angle between camera view axis and horizontal line. We photographed from the side of the face of 7 adults with exposed tongue. We drew an exposed tongue lines to connect the tongue tip points and the tongue root points by using the photos acquired from the side faces. And then we calculated the tongue exposure angles between the vertical line and the exposed tongue lines. Mean tongue exposure angle was $28.3^{\circ}$ when tongue was lightly exposed and $13.3^{\circ}$ when maximally. So we determined $73^{\circ}$ as appropriate slope angle of part in contact with face of the DTIS and by considering that the standard variation was great, we designed control gears to adjust the slope of the camera view axis and to regulate the object distance. Conclusions: We designed a optimized mechanical structure in object distance and slope angle of part in contact with face of the DTIS.

  • We calculate the coordinates of an axisymmetric nozzle with a central body. This nozzle ensures a transonic flow with a plane sound surface, which is orthogonal to the symmetry axis and has a wall kink at the sonic point, The Chaplygin transformation in the subsonic part of the flow leads the Dirichlet problem for a system of nonlinear equations. The definition domain of the solution in the velocity-hodograph plane is taken as a rectangle. This enables one to obtain the nozzle with a monotonic distribution of velocity along its subsonic part. In the nonlinear differential equation, the linear Chaplygin operator for plane flows is separated, which allows the iterative calculation of the solution. The supersonic part of the nozzle is calculated under the assumption that the flow at the nozzle exit is uniform and parallel to the symmetry axis; i.e., the supersonic jet outflows to the submerged space with the same pressure. The calculation is performed by the characteristic method. The exact solution of Tricomi equation for near-sonic flows with the straight sonic line is used to 'move away' the sound plane. The velocity distribution alone the supersonic part of the nozzle is also monotonic, which ensures the absence of the boundary-layer separation and, therefore, the adequacy of the ideal-gas model. calculations show that the flow in the supersonic part of the nozzle is continuous (compression shocks are absent)

  • This paper presents a new submesh allocation scheme for mesh-connected multicomputer systems. The key idea in the proposed allocation scheme is to reduce the submesh search time using classified free submesh lists (CFSL). This scheme reduces the submesh search time by classifying independent free submeshes according to their types (square, horizontal rectangle, vertical rectangle) and searching the best-fit submesh from the classified free submesh list. When no suitable submesh is found, the search can be continued by using the expansion index (El), which is stored as an attribute of each submesh, is used to form a larger submesh. Through simulation, we show that the proposed strategy improves the performance compared to previous strategies with respect to submesh search time.
