Curvularia lunata is an important maize foliar fungal pathogen that distributes widely in maize growing area in China, and several key pathogenic factors have been isolated. An yeast two-hybrid (Y2H) library is a very useful platform to further unravel novel pathogenic factors in C. lunata. To construct a high-quality full length-expression cDNA library from the C. lunata for application to pathogenesis-related protein-protein interaction screening, total RNA was extracted. The SMART (Switching Mechanism At 5' end of the RNA Transcript) technique was used for cDNA synthesis. Double-stranded cDNA was ligated into the pGADT7-Rec vector with Herring Testes Carrier DNA using homologous recombination method. The ligation mixture was transformed into competent yeast AH109 cells to construct the primary cDNA library. Eventually, a high qualitative library was successfully established according to an evaluation on quality. The transformation efficiency was about $6.39{\times}10^5$ transformants/$3{\mu}g$ pGADT7-Rec. The titer of the primary cDNA library was $2.5{\times}10^8cfu/mL$. The numbers for the cDNA library was $2.46{\times}10^5$. Randomly picked clones show that the recombination rate was 88.24%. Gel electrophoresis results indicated that the fragments ranged from 0.4 kb to 3.0 kb. Melanin synthesis protein Brn1 (1,3,8-hydroxynaphthalene reductase) was used as a "bait" to test the sufficiency of the Y2H library. As a result, a cDNA clone encoding VelB protein that was known to be involved in the regulation of diverse cellular processes, including control of secondary metabolism containing melanin and toxin production in many filamentous fungi was identified. Further study on the exact role of the VelB gene is underway.

The electrical loss of the photo-generated carriers is dominated by the recombination at the metal- semiconductor interface. In order to enhance the performance of the solar cells, many studies have been performed on the surface treatment with passivation layer like SiN, SiO2, Al2O3, and a-Si:H. In this work, Al2O3 thin films were investigated to reduce recombination at surface. The Al2O3 thin films have two advantages, such as good passivation properties and back surface field (BSF) effect at rear surface. It is usually deposited by atomic layer deposition (ALD) technique. However, ALD process is a very expensive process and it has rather low deposition rate. In this study, the ICP-assisted reactive magnetron sputtering method was used to deposit Al2O3 thin films. For optimization of the properties of the Al2O3 thin film, various fabrication conditions were controlled, such as ICP RF power, substrate bias voltage and deposition temperature, and argon to oxygen ratio. Chemical states and atomic concentration ratio were analyzed by x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). In order to investigate the electrical properties, Al/(Al2O3 or SiO2,/Al2O3)/Si (MIS) devices were fabricated and characterized using the C-V measurement technique (HP 4284A). The detailed characteristics of the Al2O3 passivation thin films manufactured by ICP-assisted reactive magnetron sputtering technique will be shown and discussed.
We have synthesized a $Eu^{2+}-activated\;Sr_3MgSi_2O_8$ blue phosphor and $(Sr,Ba)_2SiO_4$ yellow phosphor and prepared white LEDs by combining these phosphors with a InGaN UV LED chip. Three distinct emission bands from the InGaN-based LED and the two phosphors are clearly observed at 405 nm, 460 nm and at around 560 nm, respectively. The 405 nm emission band is due to a radiative recombination from a InGaN active layer. This blue emission was used as an optical transition of the $Sr_3MgSi_2O_8:Eu$ blue phosphor and $(Sr,Ba)_2SiO_4:Eu$ yellow phosphor. The 460 nm and 560 nm emission band is ascribed to a radiative recombination of $Eu^{2+}$ impurity ions in the $Sr_3MgSi_2O_8:Eu$ and $(Sr,Ba)_2SiO_4$ host matrix. As a consequence of a preparation of UV White LED lamp using the $Sr_3MgSi_2O_8:Eu$ blue phosphor and $(Sr,Ba)_2SiO_4:Eu$ yellow phosphor, the highest luminescence efficiency was obtained at the ration of epoxy/two phosphor (1/0.2361). At this time, the CIE chromaticity was CIE x = 0.3140, CIE y = 0.3201 and CCT (6500 K).
Uniform $TiO_2$ blocking layers (BLs) are fabricated using ultrasonic spray pyrolysis deposition (USPD) method. To improve the photovoltaic performance of dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs), the BL thickness is controlled by using USPD times of 0, 20, 60, and 100 min, creating $TiO_2$ BLs of 0, 40, 70, and 100 nm, respectively, in average thickness on fluorine-doped tin oxide (FTO) glass. Compared to the other samples, the DSSC containing the uniform $TiO_2$ BL of 70 nm in thickness shows a superior power conversion efficiency of $7.58{\pm}0.20%$ because of the suppression of electron recombination by the effect of the optimized thickness. The performance improvement is mainly attributed to the increased open-circuit voltage ($0.77{\pm}0.02V$) achieved by the increased Fermi energy levels of the working electrodes and the improved short-circuit current density ($15.67{\pm}0.43mA/cm^2$) by efficient electron transfer pathways. Therefore, optimized $TiO_2$ BLs fabricated by USPD may allow performance improvements in DSSCs.
We varied recombination method of fenetic algorithm (GA), i.e., crossover step, to compare efficiency of these methods, and to find more optimum GA method. In one method (A), we select two conformations(parents) to be recombined by systematic combination of lowest energy conformations, and in the other (B), we select them in a ratio proportional to the energy of the conformation. Second variation lies in how to select crossover point. First, we select it randomly(1). Second, we select range of residues where internal energy of the molecule does not vary for more than two residues, select randomly among such regions, and we select either thr first (2a) or the second residue (2b) from the N-terminal side, or the first (2c) or the second residue (2d) from the C-terminal side in the selected region for crossover point. Third, we select longest such hregion, and select such residue(as cases 2) (3a, 3b, 3c or 3d) of the region. These methods were tested in a 2-dimensionl lattice system for 8 different sequences (the same ones used by Unger and Moult., 1993). Results show that compared to Unger and Moult's result(UM) which corresponds to B-1 case, our B-1 case performed similarly in overall. There are many cases where our new methods performed better than UM for some different sequences. When cooling factor affecting higher energy conformation to be accepted in Monte Carlo step was reduced, our B-1 and other cases performed better than UM; we found lower energy conformers, and found same energy conformers in a smaller steps. We discuss importance of cooling factor variation in Monte Carlo simulations of protein folding for different proteins. (A) method tends to find the minimum conformer faster than (B) method, and (3) method is superior or at least equal to (1) method.
In this paper, we propose a new ESD protection device with high holding voltage with low current gain of parasitic NPN BJT by improving the structure of the existing LTDDSCR. The electrical characteristics of the proposed protection device were analyzed by HBM simulation using Synopsys' TCAD simulation, and the operation of the added BJT was confirmed by current flow, impact ionization and recombination simulation. In addition, the holding voltage characteristics were optimized with the design variables D1 and D2. As a result of the simulation, it was verified that the new ESD protection device has a higher holding voltage compared to the existing LTDDSCR and has a symmetrical bidirectional characteristic. Therefore, the proposed ESD protection device has high area efficiency when applied to an IC and is expected to improve the reliability of the IC.
Passivating contacts are a promising technology for achieving high efficiency Si solar cells by reducing direct metal/Si contact. Among them, a polysilicon (poly-Si) based passivating contact solar cells achieve high passivation quality through a tunnel oxide (SiOx) and poly-Si. In poly-Si/SiOx based solar cells, the passivation quality depends on the amount of dopant in-diffused into the bulk-Si. Therefore, our study fabricated cells by inserting silicon oxide (SiO2) as a doping barrier before doping and analyzed the barrier effect of SiO2. In the experiments, p+ poly-Si was formed using spin on dopant (SOD) method, and samples ware fabricated by controlling formation conditions such as existence of doping barrier and poly-Si thickness. Completed samples were measured using quasi steady state photoconductance (QSSPC). Based on these results, it was confirmed that possibility of achieving high Voc by inserting a doping barrier even with thin poly-Si. In conclusion, an improvement in implied Voc of up to approximately 20 mV was achieved compared to results with thicker poly-Si results.

In this paper, a new green clustering algorithm is proposed to be as a first approach in the framework of an energy efficient strategy for centralized enterprise high-density WLANs. Traditionally, in order to maintain the network coverage, all the APs within the WLAN have to be powered-on. Nevertheless, the new algorithm can power-off a large proportion of APs while the coverage is maintained as its always-on counterpart. The two main components of the new approach are the faster procedure based on K-means and the more accurate procedure based on Evolutionary Algorithm (EA), respectively. The two procedures are processes in parallel for different designed requirements and there is information interaction in between. In order to implement the new algorithm, EA is applied to handle the optimization of multiple objectives. Moreover, we adapt the method for selection and recombination, and then introduce a new operator for mutation. This paper also presents simulations in scenarios modeled with ray-tracing method and FDTD technique, and the results show that about 67% to 90% of energy consumption can be saved while it is able to maintain the original network coverage during periods when few users are online or the traffic load is low.

Density functional theory (DFT) was used to determine the ground state geometries of indigo and new design dyes (IM-Dye-1 IM-Dye-2 and IM-Dye-3). The time dependant density functional theory (TDDFT) was used to calculate the excitation energies. All the calculations were performed in both gas and solvent phase. The LUMO energies of all the dyes were above the conduction band of $TiO_2$, while the HOMOs were below the redox couple (except IM-Dye-3). The HOMO-LUMO energy gaps of new design dyes were smaller as compared to indigo. All new design dyes were strongly red shifted as compared to indigo. The improved light harvesting efficiency (LHE) and free energy change of electron injection ${\Delta}G^{inject}$ of new designed sensitizers revealed that these materials would be excellent sensitizers. The broken coplanarity between the benzene near anchoring group having LUMO and the last benzene attached to TPA unit in all new design dyes consequently would hamper the recombination reaction. This theoretical designing will the pave way for experimentalists to synthesize the efficient sensitizers for solar cells.
Dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs), developed two decades ago, are considered to be an attractive technology among various photovoltaic devices because of their low cost, accessible dye chemistry, ease of fabrication, high power conversion efficiency, and environmentally friendly nature. A typical DSSCs consists of a dye-coated $TiO_2$ photoanode, a redox electrolyte, and a platinum (Pt)-coated fluorine-doped tin oxide (FTO) counter electrode. Among them, redox electrolytes have proven to be extremely important in improving the performance of DSSCs. Due to many drawbacks of iodide electrolytes, many research groups have paid more attention to seeking other alternative electrolyte systems. With regard to this, one-electron outer sphere redox shuttles based on cobalt complexes have shown promising results: In 2014, porphyrin dye (SM315) with the cobalt (II/III) redox couple exhibited a power conversion efficiency of 13% in DSSCs. In this review, we will provide an overview and perspectives of cobalt redox electrolytes in DSSCs.
