  • The purpose of this study was to analyze a theoretical frame of expressional area, the characteristics and the effects which is applied to fashion illustration by metonymic theory. The theoretical frame of expressional area was analyzed by category analysis and 150 fashion illustrations from 1900 to 1999 were analyzed by contents analysis. The results of this study were as follows: The expressions of metonymy were categorized by close-up, realistic expression, omission, borrowing of past style, simplification and deconstruction. First, close-up was presented as emphasis of small part of fashion by cutting the scenes, snapshot, emphasis, etc. Second, realistic expression was presented as description of related circumstance with fashion message through perspective and realistic description of circumstance related to figures. Third, omission was presented as seeking of essential core by removing color, pattern, texture or by omitting body and as emphasis of communication about dominant fashion message. Fourth, borrowing of past style was presented as reminding us of background of the past. Fifth, simplification was presented as using of form or color to alleviate tension of object and to restore the essential reality. Sixth, deconstruction was presented as fragmenting of image, flattening of body and clothing, weakness of form, and strength of color. In conclusion, metonymy made by experience system of thinking based on the reality, have extended expressional territory in pre-existing fashion illustration. And these ways not only will provide fashion image as illustrator's subjective intention and theoretical system of expression of message, but also will be useful way to strengthen communication for easier interpretation of fashion illustration.

  • 3D stereoscopic viewing of large scale imagery, such as aerial photography and satellite images, needs different parallaxes relative to the display scale. For example, when a viewer sees a stereoscopic image of aerial photography, the optimal parallax of its zoom-in image should be smaller than that of its zoom-out. Therefore, relative parallax adjustment according to the display scale is required. Merely adjusting the spacing between stereo images is not appropriate because the depths of the whole image are either exaggerated or reduced entirely. This paper focuses on the improving stereoscopic viewing with a single remote sensing image and a digital surface model (DSM). We present the parallax adjustment technique to maximize the 3D realistic effect and the visual comfort. For remote sensing data, DSM height value can be regarded as disparity. There are two possible kinds of methods to adjust the relative parallax with a single image performance. One is the DSM compression technique: the other is an adjustment of the distance between the original image and its stereo-mate. In our approach, we carried out a test to evaluate the optimal distance between a single remote sensing image and its stereo-mate, relative to the viewing scale. Several synthetic stereo-mates according to certain viewing scale were created using a parallel projection model and their anaglyphs were estimated visually. The occlusion of the synthetic stereo-mate was restored by the inpainting method using the fields of experts (FoE) model. With the experiments using QuickBird imagery, we could obtain stereoscopic images with optimized parallax at varied display scales.

  • Lightscape is a visual rendering software enabling higher dimensional 3D image production using rendering as well. However, direct light simulation showed that more realistic feature of material-specific texture or color could be achieved by adjusting options. Accordingly, this study is to generate optimal values of options and achieve more realistic images by varying such values according to individual materials in order to create better quality simulation images using Lightscape.

  • This study reflects the aim of analyzing the fashion design connection with ecology. Ecology has been linked to human life through its changing relations with environment. In order to recover eco-system ecology-nature oriented methodology and technology oriented approach will suffice. On the modern design field Green design Recycling and Green marketing resulted in increasing rates of environment-friendly production and an effort to deliver environment-friendly corporate image. Based on above research ecological image on fashion design during the year 1990 to 1995 represents the following conclusion. In the fashion design field natural image primitive image nature -harmonious image material-recyling image culture-recycling image are proposed. In the technology field clean image and high-tech image are proposed. In the marketing field happy image harmonious image serious image and realistic image are proposed.

  • The wavefront printer records a volume-reflection hologram as a two-dimensional array of elemental holograms from computer-generated holograms (CGHs) displayed on a spatial light modulator (SLM). The wavefront coming from the object is extracted by filtering in the spatial-frequency domain. This paper presents a method to improve color reproduction in a wavefront printer with spatial division of exposures at primary colors, by adaptive partitioning of the SLM in accordance with the color content encoded in the input CGHs, and by the controllable change of exposure times for the recording of primary colors. The method is verified with a color wavefront printer with demagnification of the object beam. The quality of reconstruction achieved by the proposed method proves its efficiency in eliminating the stripe artifacts that are superimposed on reconstructed images in conventional mosaic recording.

  • In recent years, the Augmented Reality Technology is improving in order to support the user-oriented interaction depending on growing trend in smart phones. In this paper, we present the Realistic Experience App. Contents which help the smart phone users experience the real situations by using the Object Recognition Technology of the tourist attractions and the users' location information. The developed system pinpoints both the location of the user and that of the tourist spot object through the GPS of the smart phone and the information of Beacon, providing the realistic experience contents about the tourist attraction after estimating the distance and the direction between the user and the place. The Realistic Experience App. Contents are expected not only to impress the culture of Jeju on the tourists but also to increase the potential to uncover the unknown tourist attractions and improve the image of Jeju as one of the best sightseeing cities.

  • Humankind longed for an image like the sense of sight and has developed history of image on the basis of the will toward record and reproduction. A long period of time was required for accumulation of technology for reproduction of an object, but directing point has always been impression experienced by the 'eyes.' But it has not all been pointing in the realistic image. This study aimed to discuss about its process and directing point of the paradigm of image creation that has been continued together with progress of humankind based on the academic outcomes achieved by Platon. 'Mimesis' classified by Plato required techne how far it may be distant from 'Idea.' Techne went forward in the direction of securing rationality according to accumulation of civilization in the end and reality, the history of mimesis was the process toward 'realistic image' and 'fantastic image'.

  • The multi-screen image system could make the audiences appreciate contents without special devices by expansively composing the images played on a single screen to many facets suitable for the use, which could provide the great immersiveness to the audiences. Based on the recent interest in realistic images, it is produced as films through the multi-projection technology such as Screen X or Escape, and it is developed into the media that could deliver stories and information. Also, the size of display tends to gradually get larger while the image quality is improved to high definition. Thus, the development is accelerated in the form of Digital Signage that could play the high definition image contents by solidly composing many HD or UHD display screens. Moreover, through the convergence of digital technologies, it is developed into the higher value-added industry that could have two-way communication. This study aims to understand the developmental history of multi-screen image from 1950 to the present, technical analysis, and the production method, and then to research how to minimize the image degradation when playing the contents, in various platforms using the multi-screen image.

  • This study proposes an effective algorithm that can render a realistic image of a lighting environment, especially an automotive rear lamp, using the backward ray tracing method. To producea realistic image similar to that perceived by the human eye, the incident light energy at the eye point estimated by a ray tracing algorithm is represented by XYZ tri-stimulus values, which are then converted into RGB values considering the particular display device.

  • A technique is described for producing a virtual object with realistic motion. A 3-D human motion model is obtained by applying a developed motion capturing technique to a real human in motion. Factorization method is a technique for recovering 3-D shape of a rigid object from a single video image stream without using camera parameters. The technique is extended for recovering 3-D human motions. The proposed system is composed of three fixed cameras which take video images of a human motion. Three obtained image sequences are analyzed to yield measurement matrices at individual sampling times, and they are merged into a single measurement matrix to which the factorization is applied and the 3-D human motion is recovered ...
