EMG-based Real-time Finger Force Estimation for Human-Machine Interaction (인간-기계 인터페이스를 위한 근전도 기반의 실시간 손가락부 힘 추정)

  • In this paper, we describe finger force estimation from surface electromyogram (sEMG) data for intuitive and delicate force control of robotic devices such as exoskeletons and robotic prostheses. Four myoelectric sites on the skin were found to offer favorable sEMG recording conditions. An artificial neural network (ANN) was implemented to map the sEMG to the force, and its structure was optimized to avoid both under- and over-fitting problems. The resulting network was tested using recorded sEMG signals from the selected myoelectric sites of three subjects in real-time. In addition, we discussed performance of force estimation results related to the length of the muscles. This work may prove useful in relaying natural and delicate commands to artificial devices that may be attached to the human body or deployed remotely.

Lightweight Deep Learning Model for Real-Time 3D Object Detection in Point Clouds (실시간 3차원 객체 검출을 위한 포인트 클라우드 기반 딥러닝 모델 경량화)

  • 3D object detection generally aims to detect relatively large data such as automobiles, buses, persons, furniture, etc, so it is vulnerable to small object detection. In addition, in an environment with limited resources such as embedded devices, it is difficult to apply the model because of the huge amount of computation. In this paper, the accuracy of small object detection was improved by focusing on local features using only one layer, and the inference speed was improved through the proposed knowledge distillation method from large pre-trained network to small network and adaptive quantization method according to the parameter size. The proposed model was evaluated using SUN RGB-D Val and self-made apple tree data set. Finally, it achieved the accuracy performance of 62.04% at mAP@0.25 and 47.1% at mAP@0.5, and the inference speed was 120.5 scenes per sec, showing a fast real-time processing speed.

  • We report the characteristics and differences of two types of attenuation measurement methods for electromagnetic partial discharge signal in GIS. The pulse method is to measure the attenuated waveforms in time domain and coverts them into frequency domain to get the attenuation spectra of given GIS section. This method simulates the real partial discharge signal. The frequency swept continuous wave method can obtain attenuation spectra directly so that it gives attenuation with low noise floor and simplicity. We show that both methods are effective and exchangeable because the attenuation results measured by two methods have similar trends

  • The recent trends in malwares show the most widely used for the distribution of malwares that the targeted computer is infected while the user is accessing to the website, without being aware of the fact that, in which the harmful codes are concealed. In this thesis, we propose a new malicious web page detection system based on a real time analysis of normal/abnormal behaviors in client-side. By means of this new approach, it is not only the limitation of conventional methods can be overcome, but also the risk of infection from malwares is mitigated.

  • This paper proposes the streaming radio frequency identification (RFID) protocol to support robust data streaming in a passive communication, which is extended from the ISO18000-6 Type C RFID standard. By observing and modeling the unique bit error behavior through detailed analysis in this paper, we found that performance is significantly limited by inaccurate and unstable link frequencies as well as low SNR which are inevitable for passive devices. Based on the analysis, we propose a simple and efficient protocol to adaptively insert extra error control sequences in a packet for tolerating tough link condition while maximizing the throughput and preserving the minimal implementation cost. To evaluate effectiveness of our proposal in real-time streaming applications, we experimented on real-time H.264 video streaming and prototyped the system on FPGA. To our best knowledge, our paper is the first work to take analytical approach for maximizing the throughput and demonstrate the possibility of the realtime multimedia streaming transmission in the passive RFID system.

  • This paper describes a new technology to develop the character recognition technology based on pattern recognition for non-contacting inspection optical lens slant or precision parts, and including external form state of lens or electronic parts for the performance verification, this development can achieve badness finding. And, establish to existing reflex data because inputting surface badness degree of scratch's standard specification condition directly, and error designed to distinguish from product more than schedule error to badness product by normalcy product within schedule extent after calculate the error comparing actuality measurement reflex data and standard reflex data mutually. Developed system to smallest 1 pixel unit though measuring is possible 1 pixel as $37{\mu}m{\times}37{\mu}m$ ($0.1369{\times}10-4mm^2$) the accuracy to $1.5{\times}10-4mm$ minutely measuring is possible performance verification and trust ability through an experiment prove.

  • In this study, problems of RTK (Real Time Kinematic)-GPS (Global Positioning System) and an accelerometer sensor when applied to structures were experimentally identified through a comparison between results of the displacement measurement using the RTK-GPS, the accelerometer, and LVDT (Linear variable differential transformer). Integrated displacement was calculated by the improved RTK-GPS and accelerometer on the frequency of observation and positioning accuracy. This integrated displacement was also compared with that of LVDT to check the validity of application and feasibility.

  • Relative navigation system is presented using measurements from a single-channel global positioning system (GPS) simulator. The objective of this study is to provide real-time relative navigation results as well as absolute navigation results for two formation flying satellites separated about 1km in low earth orbit. To improve the performance, more accurate dynamic model and modified relative measurement model are developed. This modified method prevents non-linearity of the measurement model from degrading precision by applying linearization about the states from absolute navigation algorithm not about a priori states. Furthermore, absolute states are obtained using ion-free GRAPHIC pseudo-ranges and precise relative states are provided using double differential carrier-phase data based on Extended Kalman Filter. The software-based simulation is performed and achieved meter-level precision for absolute navigation and millimeter-level precision for relative navigation. The absolute and relative accuracies at steady state are about 0.77m and 4mm respectively (3D, r.m.s.). In addition, Integer ambiguity algorithm (LAMBDA method) improves simulation performances.

  • In this paper, We are proposed the real-time monitor and control mechanism for intelligent robot called URC(Ubiquitous Robotic Companion). URC are intelligent robots designed as to interact with external digital device that can communicate through wire or wireless by integration the network and information technology into traditional robot. In this paper, we implemented the result of this study into the target robot called ISSAC4 and proved its practical worth. We designed it as be able to control on remote by such web browser as anywhere and anytime that show a status information for several controllers, devices, actuators and sensors of robot and guarantee a continuity of real-time image transferring by Client-Pull method and moving control of robot.

  • In this paper, we evaluate a performance on a resource allocation algorithm for prioritized data services in CDMA networks supporting real-time and non-real-time data services. The weighted aggregate data throughput is used to characterize the performance of the prioritized data service. Our prioritized data service is implemented so that the weighted aggregate data throughput is maximized via efficient power and spreading gain allocation. Numerical experiments are performed to evaluate a suboptimal resource allocation algorithm for typical parameters.
