Design of a Module for Oscillation Detection in an Integrated PCS and W-CDMA Receiver

  • In this paper, a circuit for detecting a fine oscillation in an integrated PCS and W-CDMA receiver is presented. The advantages for this design are small size and flexible compatibility for system operation compared with the conventional method. The fine oscillation level can be detected by dB unit through selecting the receiver mode as PCS of 1.8 GHz range or W CDMA of 1.9 GHz range by a RF switch and monitoring the corresponding frequency band. Also, the circuit is designed to be flexible for other communication systems with the consideration of the required dynamic range of 75 dB.

옥내 배선계통에서 직렬 아크의 검출과 판별 (Detection and Identification of the Series Arc in an Indoor Wiring System)

  • Most series arcs lead to electrical fires that cannot be interrupted by circuit breakers, because the arc's current is outside the breaker's operating range. In this paper, experiments were conducted on the detection and identification of series arcs to prevent electrical fires. Plugs and outlets specified in KS C 8305 were deteriorated to replicate arc faults commonly found in fields. The characteristics of series arcs resulting from various types of loose connections were determined by analyzing the frequency spectra and phase distributions of detected arc pulses. The results showed that the simulated arc defects used in this study were more similar to actual arc phenomena than the existing arc generator specified in UL 1699. In addition, loose connections, such as wire-wire, terminal-wire, and outlet-plug, can be identified by phases of $0^{\circ}$, $180^{\circ}$ and $360^{\circ}$, respectively. These phases can be detected by a band pass filter with a frequency range of 5~10 MHz, which can be used as the trip signal for circuit breakers.

  • 본 논문은 진동형 각속도 검출 센서로부터 각속도 신호를 검출하는 애널로그 신호처리 ASIC의 구현에 관한 것이다. 각속도 검출 센서의 출력은 구조적으로 콘덴서의 용량변화로 나타나므로 이를 검출하기 위하여 전하 증폭기를 이용하였으며, 센서의 구동에 필요한 자체발진회로는 각속도 검출 센서의 공진 특성을 이용한 정현파 발진회로로 구현하였다. 특히 센서의 제조 공정으로 인한 특성 변화나 온도 변화와 같은 외부 요인에 의한 자체발진특성의 열화를 방지하기 위하여 자동이득조절회로를 사용하였다. 진동형 각속도 검출 센서의 동작특성에 의하여 진폭변조 형태로 나타나는 각속도 신호를 검출하기 위하여 동기검파회로를 사용하였다. 동기검파회로에서는 반송파의 크기에 따라 검파신호의 크기가 달라지는 현상을 방지하기 위하여 스위칭 방식의 곱셈회로를 사용하였다. 설계된 칩은 0.5㎛ CMOS 공정으로 구현하였으며, 1.2㎜×1㎜의 칩 크기로 제작되었다. 실험 결과 3V의 전원전압에서 3.6mA의 전류를 소비하였으며, 칩과 각속도 센서를 결합한 정상동작상태에서 직류에서 50㎐까지 잡음 스펙트럼 밀도는 -95 dBrms/√㎐에서 -100 dBrms/√㎐ 사이에 존재하였다.

미세가공 진동형 자이로스코프의 특성 감지 회로의 설계에 관한 연구 (Design of the Detection Circuitry for the Characteristics of Micromachined Vibrating Gyroscope)

  • A new technique to measure low level capacitance variations of the gyroscope is proposed and verified by computer simulation. It is based on the new CV(capacitance-voltage) converter circuit biased by dc current source and the peak detector without low pass filter. The CV converter biased by dc current source provides good signal-to-noise ratio and this setup of the detection circuitry without low pass filter makes it possible to provide short settling time, that is, higher speed of measurement and wide operation range if only a few parameters are adjusted. The key parameters that affect the performance of the detection circuitry are illustrated and computer simulation results are presented. The demonstrated detection circuitry shows linear response from 10 fF to 130 fF at 10 kHz and shows good linearity.

EMI based multi-bolt looseness detection using series/parallel multi-sensing technique

  • In this paper, a novel but practical approach named series/parallel multi-sensing technique was proposed to evaluate the bolt looseness in a bolt group. The smart washers (SWs), which were fabricated by embedding a Lead Zirconate Titanate (PZT) transducer into two flat metal rings, were installed to the bolts group. By series connection of SWs, the impedance signals of different bolts can be obtained through only one sweep. Therefore, once the loosening occurred, the shift of different peak frequencies can be used to locate which bolt has loosened. The proposed multi input single output (MISO) damage detection scheme is very suitable for the structural health monitoring (SHM) of joint with a large number of bolts connection. Another notable contribution of this paper is the proposal of 3-dB bandwidth root mean square deviation (3 dB-RMSD) which can quantitatively evaluate the severity of bolt looseness. Compared with the traditional naked-eye observation method, the equivalent circuit based 3-dB bandwidth can accurately define the calculation range of RMSD. An experiment with three bolted connection specimens that installed the SWs was carried out to validate our proposed approach. Experimental result shows that the proposed 3 dB-RMSD based multi-sensing technique can not only identify the loosened bolt but also monitor the severity of bolt looseness.

IEC60479 인체 임피던스 모델에 근거한 직류누설전류의 특성 및 검출 알고리즘 (Detection Algorithm and Characteristics on DC Residual Current based on Analysis of IEC60479 Impedance Model for Human Body)

  • DC distribution systems has recently taken the spotlight. Concerns over human safety and stability facility are raised in DC distribution systems. Std. IEC 60479 provides basic guidance on "the effects of shock current on human beings and livestock" for use in the establishment of electrical safety requirements and suggests an electrical impedance of the human body. This study analyzes impedance spectrums based on the electrical equivalent impedance circuit for the human body; human body impedances measured by experiments are analyzed below the fundamental frequency (60 Hz). The analysis shows that the equivalent impedance circuit for the human body should be modified at least in low-frequency range below the fundamental frequency (60 Hz). The DC residual current detection method that can classify electric shock accidents of humans and electric leakages of facilities is proposed by applying the analysis result. The detection method is verified by experiments on livestock.

  • 사전 왜곡형 선형 증폭기는 회로가 간단하고 제작 비용이 적은 장점이 있으나, 상호 변조 왜곡 hump 특성 때문에 낮은 출력 전력에서 상호 변조 왜곡 특성이 나빠지는 단점이 있다. 본 논문에서는 출력 전력에 따라 전력 증폭기의 바이어스를 제어하는 방법으로 이와 같은 단점을 개선하였다. AB급 바이어스를 사용한 16 W급 사전 왜곡형 전력 증폭기에 본 논문에서 제안한 방법을 적용한 결과, 넓은 출력 전력 범위에서 약 10 dB의 3차 상호변조 왜곡 특성이 개선됨을 확인하였다.

  • Nowadays, the axle counter has been developed to the wide range of the track circuit blocks as well as the wheel detection device. The axle counter, as becoming an important device for the high speed railway, must be guaranteed in accordance with the safety. With considering the safety and the high speed, performance evaluation a wheel detection sensor is described in this paper. To increase the safety, digital proximity sensor instead of analog is employed in the wheel detection sensor. Therefor the wheel detection sensor can minimize noisy signals caused by the harsh railway environments. And, to meet the high speed railway requirements, the performance of the wheel detection sensor is also successfully verified using the speed simulator at the velocity 500Km/h.

일산화질소 가스 검출을 위한 CuO 박막/ZnO 나노막대 이종접합 구조의 제작 및 특성 평가 (Fabrication and Characterization of CuO Thin Film/ZnO Nanorods Heterojunction Structure for Efficient Detection of NO Gas)

  • We report on the efficient detection of NO gas by an all-oxide semiconductor p-n heterojunction diode structure comprised of n-type zinc oxide (ZnO) nanorods embedded in p-type copper oxide (CuO) thin film. The CuO thin film/ZnO nanorod heterostructure was fabricated by directly sputtering CuO thin film onto a vertically aligned ZnO nanorod array synthesized via a hydrothemal method. The transport behavior and NO gas sensing properties of the fabricated CuO thin film/ZnO nanorod heterostructure were charcterized and revealed that the oxide semiconductor heterojunction exhibited a definite rectifying diode-like behavior at various temperatures ranging from room temperature to $250^{\circ}C$. The NO gas sensing experiment indicated that the CuO thin film/ZnO nanorod heterostructure had a good sensing performance for the efficient detection of NO gas in the range of 2-14 ppm under the conditions of an applied bias of 2 V and a comparatively low operating temperature of $150^{\circ}C$. The NO gas sensing process in the CuO/ZnO p-n heterostructure is discussed in terms of the electronic band structure.

HB형 LPM의 위치검출장치에 관한 기초연구 (A Study on the Position Detection Device for a Hybrid Type Linear Pulse Motor)

  • In recent years, as the electonic industry has become more advanced, the LPM(Linear Pulse Motor) has appeared in a wide range of applications because of easier control, operation by open-loop control, high positioning accuracy, and retrieval of position or velocity data by the input pulses. In this study, we deal with the development of a position detection device attached to a hybrid LPM in our laboratory. Precise position detection signals could be sensed by the synchronous rectifier method from the LPM stator scale. In addition, we can keep the amplitude constant by using an AGC(Automatic Gain Control) circuit. Experimental results show that the position data is good enough to perform the LPM position control.
