  • Because worldwide interest in the health is increased, the real-time health monitoring system has been demanded to be more convenient non-contact and precise medical devices than conventional. Therefore we developed the blood pressure monitoring system using UWB(Ultra Wide Band) radio wave which contact to the human body through the radar and continuously collect a movement signal of the blood vessel. Then the collected data including pulse rate, systolic blood pressure, diastolic blood pressure is processed in real time. The system monitors and controls through a program-based embedded LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) using Qt GUI(Graphic User Interface) to be displayed in real time. We implement the system as a embedded system because of reducing the size of the limited resources. Existing PC GUI design mode is used relatively large memory, therefore it requires more CPU(Central Processing Unit) capacity and processing time.

  • Most of weapon systems use aided navigation system which integrates inertial navigation and aiding sensors to compensate the INS errors increasing with the passage of time. Various aid sensors can be applied such as Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS), radar, barometer, etc., but there might exist time delay caused by signal processing or transferring aid information. This time delay leads out-of-sequence measurements (OOSM) systems. Previously, optimal and suboptimal measurment update method for OOSM systems, where the time delay length are known, are proposed. However, previous algorithm does not guarantee the positive definite property of covariance matrix. In order to improve numerical stability for aided navigation using delayed-measurement, this paper proposes a new measurement covariance update algorithm be similar to Joseph-form in Kalman filter. Futhermore, we propose how to implement it in indirect feedback Kalman filter structure, which is commonly used in aided navigation systems, for time-delayed measurement systems. Simulation and vehicle test results show effectiveness of a proposed algorithm.

  • Through matched filtering synthetic aperture radar (SAR) produces high-resolution imagery from data collected by a relative small antenna. While the impulse response obtained by the matched filter approach produces the best achievable signal-to-noise ratio, large sidelobes must be reduced to obtain higher-resolution SAR images. So, many enhancement methods of SAR imagery have been proposed. As a deconvolution method, the phase-extension inverse filtering is based on the characteristics of the matched filtering used in SAR imaging. It improves spatial resolution as well as effectively suppresses the sidelobes with low computational complexity. In the phase-extension inverse filtering, the impulse response is obtained from simulation with a point target. But in a real SAR environment, for example ERS-1, the impulse response is distorted by many non-ideal factors. So, in the phase-extension inverse filtering for a real SAR processing, the magnitudes of the frequency transfer function have to be compensated to produce more desirable results. In this paper, an estimation method to obtain a more accurate impulse response from a real SAR image is studied. And a compensation scheme to produce better performance of the phase-extension inverse filtering is also introduced.

  • Collisions of nearby ships are reported frequently because of bad weathers. A lot of efforts, using radar warning or other navigation security devices, were given to reduce the collisions, but the number of accidents could not be reduced. The main cause is that the ship personel are not watching carefully. In the paper, we propose a novel technique estimating the locations of nearby ships from their whistle blast and delivering the location information using mobile phones. We realized the technique using LabVIEW and showed its usefulness.

  • In this paper, we analyze the radio propagation path loss characteristics for the vertical electric dipole radiation over the perfect electric conductor(PEC) ground plane. Most research have been performed about the electromagnetic analysis of vertical electric dipole in free space for time domain or frequency domain. But this paper present the radio propagation path loss over PEC ground plane in time domain under the assumption of the vertical electric dipole as a base station. From the simulated results, the ground plane effect can change the location of near field from transmitting antenna and the transient responses at mobile are calculated. The results of this paper can be applied to surface radar or signal processing applications.

  • Grounding line of a glacier or ice shelf where ice bottom meets the ocean is sensitive to changes in the polar environment. Recent rapid changes of grounding lines have been observed especially in southwestern Antarctica due to global warming. In this study, ERS-1/2 and Sentinel-1A Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) image were interferometrically acquired in 1996 and 2015, respectively, to monitor the movement of the grounding line in the western part of Ronne Ice Shelf near the Antarctic peninsula. Double-Differential Interferometric SAR (DDInSAR) technique was applied to remove gravitational flow signal to detect grounding line from the interferometric phase due to the vertical displacement of the tide. The result showed that ERS-1/2 grounding lines are almost consistent with those from Rignot et al. (2011) which used the similar dataset, confirming the credibility of the data processing. The comparison of ERS-1/2 and Sentinle-1A DDInSAR images showed a grounding line retreat of $1.0{\pm}0.1km$ from 1996 to 2015. It is also proved that the grounding lines based on the 2004 MODIS Mosaic of Antarctica (MOA) images and digital elevation model searching for ice plain near coastal area (Scambos et al., 2017), is not accurate enough especially where there is a ice plain with no tidal motion.

  • A frequency-shifting technique that uses a digital filter in order to interpolate a bandpass-sampled signal at a low-pass position is investigated. The discussion focuses on the derivation of the required digital filter. It is shown that second-order bandpass sampling offers more flexibility than first-order bandpass sampling in the sense of sampling frequency choice. It is also shown that the well-known quadrature-sampling method for frequency-shifting is a special case of the general second-order sampling technique. The advantages of the mixer-free digital quadrature demodulations are increased flexibility for sampling frequency choice and high precision for I/Q component extraction, and this type of modulation can be applied for modern radar signal processing with high performance.

  • This paper presents techniques of 2-D scattering center extraction and 2-B ISAR(Inverse SAR) image formation for scattering wave which is scattered by a target. In general, 2-D IFFT is widely used to obtain 2-D scattering center and ISAR image of targets. But, this method has drawbacks, that is poor in a resolution aspect. To overcome these shortcomings with the FT(Fourier Transform)-based method, various techniques of high resolution signal processing were developed. In this paper, algorithms of 2-D scattering center extraction and ISAR image formation such as 2-D MEMP(Matrix Enhancement and Matrix Pencil), 2-D ESPRIT(Estimation of Signal Parameter via Rotational Invariance Techniques) are described. In order to show the performances of each algorithm, we use scattering wave of the ideal point scatterers and F-18 aircraft to estimate 2-D scattering center and abtain 2-D ISAR image.

  • As the performance of the spaceborne SAR has been dramatically enhanced and demonstrated through advanced missions such as TerraSAR and LRO(Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter), the need for highly sophisticated and efficient SAR processor is also highlighted. In Korea, the activity of SAR researches has been mainly concerned with SAR image applications and the current SAR raw data studies are mostly limited to stripmap mode cases. The first Korean spaceborne SAR is scheduled to be operational from 2010 and expected to deliver vast amount of SAR raw data acquired from multiple operational scenarios including ScanSAR mode. Hence there will be an increasing demand to implement ground processing systems that enable to analyze the acquired ScanSAR data and generate corresponding images. In this paper, we have developed an efficient ScanSAR processor that can be directly applied to spaceborne ScanSAR mode data. The SPECAN(Spectrum Analysis) algorithm is employed for this purpose and its performance is verified through RADARSAT-1 ScanSAR raw data taken over Korean peninsular. An efficient quick-look processing is carried out to produce a wide-swath SAR image and compared with the conventional RDA processing case.

  • The accuracy and reliability of the target tracking is very critical issue in the design of automotive collision warning radar A significant problem in multi-target tracking (MTT) is the target-to-measurement data association If an incorrect measurement is associated with a target, the target could diverge the track and be prematurely terminated or cause other targets to also diverge the track. Most methods for target-to-measurement data association tend to coalesce neighboring targets Therefore, many algorithms have been developed to solve this data association problem. In this paper, a new multi-target data association method based on order statistics is described The new approaches. called the order statistics probabilistic data association (OSPDA) and the order statistics joint probabilistic data association (OSJPDA), are formulated using the association probabilities of the probabilistic data association (PDA) and the joint probabilistic data association (JPDA) filters, respectively Using the decision logic. an optimal or near optimal target-to-measurement data association is made A computer simulation of the proposed method in a heavy cluttered condition is given, including a comparison With the nearest-neighbor CNN). the PDA, and the JPDA filters, Simulation results show that the performances of the OSPDA filter and the OSJPDA filter are superior to those of the PDA filter and the JPDA filter in terms of tracking accuracy about 18% and 19%, respectively In addition, the proposed method is implemented using a developed digital signal processing (DSP) board which can be interfaced with the engine control unit (ECU) of car engine and with the d?xer through the controller area network (CAN)
