  • In this paper, we suggest the exact perturbation analysis(Exact_PA) technique with respect to the buffer storage in tandem queueing networks, through which the optimal buffer storage design problem is considered. The discrete event dynamic equations for the departure time of a customer are presented together with the basic properties of Full Out(FO) and No Input(NI) with respect to the buffer storage. The new perturbation rules with respect to the buffer storage are suggested, from which the exact perturbed path can be obtained. The optimal buffer storage problem is presented by introducing a performance measure consisting of the throughput and the buffer storage cost. An optimization algorithm maximizing this performance measure is derived by using the Exact_PA technique. The proposed perturbation analysis technique and the optimization algorithm are validated by numerical examples.

  • This paper introduces the modeling and analysis of a discrete-time, two-phase queueing system for both exhaustive batch service and gated batch service. Packets arrive at the system according to a Bernoulli process and receive batch service in the first phase and individual services in the second phase. We derive the probability generating function (PGF) of the system size and show that it is decomposed into two PGFs, one of which is the PGF of the system size in the standard discrete-time Geo/G/1 queue without vacations. We also present the PGF of the sojourn time. Based on these PGFs, we present useful performance measures, such as the mean number of packets in the system and the mean sojourn time of a packet.

  • This paper proposes a space merging approach to studying the queuing models with finite buffers and jump priorities. Upon the arrival of a call with low priority, one call of such kind is assumed to be transferred to the end of the queue of high priority calls. The transfer probabilities depend on the state of the queue of the heterogeneous calls. We developed the algorithms to calculate the quality of service metrics of such queuing models, and the results of the numerical experiments are shown.

  • A single-server queueing model with infinite buffer and batch arrival of customers is considered. In contrast to the standard batch arrival when a whole batch arrives into the system at one epoch, we assume that the customers of an accepted batch arrive one-by one in exponentially distributed times. Service time is exponentially distributed. Flow of batches is the stationary Poisson arrival process. Batch size distribution is geometric. The number of batches, which can be admitted into the system simultaneously, is subject of control. Analysis of the joint distribution of the number batches and customers in the system and sojourn time distribution is implemented by means of the matrix technique and method of catastrophes. Effect of control on the main performance measures of the system is demonstrated numerically.

  • Despite a lot of research on BIM, there is no quantitative study to measure accurately the performance of BIM coordination service. Thus, this study suggested method to measure the performace of BIM coordination services, applying queueing models in the field of management science. To analyze queuing system of BIM coordination services, a group of BIM coordinator were selected. Through focus group interviews with experts were used in the analysis to derive mean arrival rate(${\lambda}$), mean service rate(${\mu}$) of BIM coordination services. Single-server queuing model(M/M/1), multiple server queuing model(M/M/s) is utilized for the BIM coordination services performance measurement in construction phase. This study has significant quantitative performance measurement approaches that can be utilized in the decision-making for the improvement of the BIM coordination services and to support the review of the alternatives accordingly. But There is a limit but it is difficult to take into account the increase or decrease of the cost of alternatives according to the review.

  • The Input /output (I /0) subsystem is often the bottleneck in high performance computer system. Generally, system performance evaluation models were enhanced to include the effect of the I/0 system. In this paper, we modeled the terminal servers which are Indispensable devices In distribution of computer resources. We use M /M /1 Queueing model for find out the point of the system performance FIFO buffer sizes In the terminal server arc the Important fanctions of the system design and could be effected to the overall system functions. We have proposed the of optimal buffer sizes in the model of terminal server for increasing the system performance. • Most of the techniques for the performance estimation of unit-load AS/RS are a static model or computer simulation. Especially, their models have been developed under the assumption that the Storage/Retrieval (S/R) machine performs either single command(SC) or dual command(DC) only. In reality, depending on the operating policy and the status of the system at a particular time, the S/R machine performs a SC or a DC, or becomes idle. In order to resolve this weak point, we propose a stochastic model for the performance estimation of unit-load ASIRS by using a M/G/1 queueing model with a single server and two queues. Server utilization, expected numbers of waiting storage and retrieval commands and mean time spent in queue and system are found.

  • Recently, there have been increasing studies on the application of digital technology, which has its focus of the irregular building. However, most of these studies have not clarified the objective of the technology and the effectiveness of professional manpower on its performance. This study analyzes actual used technology and the role of specialty contractor. It presents a framework to quantify the performance of the specialty contractor. For these purposes, this paper presents a proposed method to evaluate the activities of specialty contractors using a queueing model. As an attempt to verify the model, an actual irregular building project, in which digital fabrication is applied, is investigated during the construction phase. In order to collect the digital fabrication data, digital fabrication reports and specialty contractor's work log of project are reviewed. In addition, Digital Fabrication input personnel, productivity data are collected through interviews with experts involving in the case project. Analysis of specialty contractor's performance in digital fabrication reveals that the wait status of project participants varies probabilistically depending on the digital technology application level. The results of this study are expected to contribute toward the improvement of the production level in the construction industry.

  • In this paper, performance analysis of video traffic shaper for Motion Picture Experts Group (MPEG) video traffic in on ATM network are investigated. Traffic shaping for MPEG video traffic is proposed as a traffic control function in ATM networks. The proposed shaper smoothes video traffics by controling the output rate of the buffer, which is placed in an MPEG source, according to I,B,P frame sequences of MPEG. In performance analysis of an video traffic shaper, a periodic botch arrival model is suggested to describe cell streams in a frame of MPEG video traffic. The queueing model which has periodic independent botch arrival and periodic deterministic service time is used to obtain the cell loss ratio, the mean cell delay, and the measure of smoothing effect. Simulation results are used to validate this queueing model. The cell loss performance of ATM multiplexer is measured by simulation study with real MPEG-1 data. From the viewpoint of traffic load, the cell loss ratio is observed to be considerably high, which is considered to result from the burstiness of MPEG video traffic. As a result, it is shown that the shaping decreases cell loss ratio of multiplexer. The results of this paper can be employed to establish a basic guideline in the implementation of a traffic control scheme and the design of ATM multiplexer for MPEG video traffic.

  • Recently, WBAN(Wireless Body Area Network) which has progressed standardization based on IEEE 802.15.6 standardization is a network for the purpose of the short-range wireless communications within around 3 meters from the inner or outer human body. Effective QoS control technique and data efficient management in limited bandwidth such as audio and video are important elements in terms of users and loads in short-range wireless networks. In this paper, for high-speed WBAN IEEE 802.15.6 standard, the dynamic allocation to give an efficient bandwidth management and weighted fair queueing algorithm have been proposed through the adjustment of the super-frame about limited data and Quality of Service (QoS) based on the queuing algorithm. Weighted Fair Queueing(WFQ) Algorithm represents the robust performance about elements to qualitative aspects as well as maintaining fairness and maximization of system performance. The performance results show that the dynamic allocation expanded transmission bandwidth five times and the weighted fair queueing increased maximum 24.3 % throughput and also resolved delay bound problem.
