We consider the M/G/1 with Bernoulli feedback, where the served customers wait in the feedback queue for rework with probability p. It is important to decide the moment of dispatching in feedback systems because of the dispatching cost for rework. Up to date, researches have analyzed for the instantaneous-dispatching model or the case that dispatching epoch is determined by the state of feedback queue. In this paper we deal with a dispatching model whose dispatching epoch depends on main queue. We adopt supplementary variable method for our model and a numerical example is given for clarity.

Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) is made up of a number of sensor nodes and base stations. Traffic flow in WSN appears self-similar due to its data delivery process, and this impacts queue length greatly and makes queuing delay worse. Active queue management can be designed to improve QoS performance for WSN. In this paper, we propose self-similar traffic rate estimating algorithm named Power-Law Moving Averaging (PLMA) to regulate packet marking probability. This algorithm improves the availability of the rate estimation algorithm under the self-similar traffic condition. Then, we propose an adaptive Proportional Integral algorithm (SSPI) based on the estimation of the Self-Similar traffic rate by PLMA. Simulation results show that SSPI can achieve lower queue length jitter and smaller setting time than PI.
This paper presents a heuristic approach to derive the Laplace-Stieltjes transform (LST) and the probability generating function (PGF) of the waiting time distributions of a continuous- and a discrete-time GI/G/1 queue, respectively. This is a new idea to derive the well-known results, the waiting time distribution of GI/G/1 queue, in a different way.
This paper summarizes recent development of analytical and algorithmical results for stationary FIFO queues with multiple Markovian arrival streams, where service time distributions are general and they may differ for different arrival streams. While this kind of queues naturally arises in considering queues with a superposition of independent phase-type arrivals, the conventional approach based on the queue length dynamics (i.e., M/G/1 pradigm) is not applicable to this kind of queues. On the contrary, the workload process has a Markovian property, so that it is analytically tractable. This paper first reviews the results for the stationary distributions of the amount of work-in-system, actual waiting time and sojourn time, all of which were obtained in the last six years by the author. Further this paper shows an alternative approach, recently developed by the author, to analyze the joint queue length distribution based on the waiting time distribution. An emphasis is placed on how to construct a numerically feasible recursion to compute the stationary queue length mass function.
We consider an M/PH/1 queue with deterministic impatience time. An exact analytical expression for the stationary distribution of the workload is derived. By modifying the workload process and using Markovian structure of the phase-type distribution for service times, we are able to construct a new Markov process. The stationary distribution of the new Markov process allows us to find the stationary distribution of the workload. By using the stationary distribution of the workload, we obtain performance measures such as the loss probability, the waiting time distribution and the queue size distribution.
We consider a cyclid server system under N-policy. This system consists of multiple queues served in a cyclic order by a single server. In this paper, we consider the following control policy. Every time server polls one queue, the server inspects the state of the queue. If the total number of units is found to have reached or exceeded a pre-specified value, the server begins to serve the queue until it is empty. As soon as the queue becomes empty, the server polls next queue. An approximate analysis of this system is presented. Sever vacation model is used as an analytical tool. However, server vacation periods are considered to be dependent on the service times of respective queues. The results obtained from the approximate analysis are ompared with simulation results.
We study the paper Zhernovyi and Zhernovyi [Zhernovyi, K.Y. and Y.V. Zhernovyi, "An $M^{\Theta}/G/1/m$ system with two-threshold hysteresis strategy of service intensity switching," Journal of Communications and Electronics, Vol.12, No.2(2012), pp.127-140]. In the paper, authors used the Korolyuk potential method to obtain the stationary queue length distribution. Instead, our note makes an attempt to apply the most frequently used methods : the embedded Markov chain and the supplementary variable method. We derive the queue length distribution at a customer's departure epoch and then at an arbitrary epoch.

The AQM (Active Queue Management) starts dropping packets earlier to notify traffic sources about the incipient stage of congestion. The AQM improves fairness between response flow (like TCP) and non-response flow (like UDP), and it can provide high throughput and link efficiency. In this paper, we suggest the QVARED (Queue Variation Adaptive RED) algorithm to respond to bursty traffic more actively. It is possible to provide more smoothness of average queue length and the maximum packet drop probability compared to RED and ARED (Adaptive RED). Therefore, it is highly adaptable to new congestion condition. Our simulation results show that the drop rate of QVARED is decreased by 80% and 40% compare to those of RED and ARED, respectively. This results in shorter end-to-end delay by decreasing the number of retransmitted packets. Also, the QVARED reduces a bias effect over 18% than that of drop-tail method; therefore packets are transmitted stably in the bursty traffic condition.

Existing flash storage devices such as universal flash storage and solid state disk support command queuing to improve storage I/O bandwidth. Command queuing allows multiple read/write requests to be pending in a device queue. Because multi-channel and multi-way architecture of flash storage devices can handle multiple requests simultaneously, command queuing is an indispensable technique for utilizing parallel architecture. However, command queuing can be harmful to the latency of fsync system call, which is critical to application responsiveness. We propose a dynamic queue depth adaptation technique, which reduces the queue depth if user application is expected to send fsync calls. Experiments show that the proposed technique reduces the fsync latency by 79% on average compared to the original scheme.

Consider a multitype queue where queued customers arc served in their order of arrival at a rate which depends on the customer type. Here we calculate the sharp asymptotics of the probability the total number of customers in the queue reaches a high level before emptying. The natural state space to describe this queue is a tree whose branches increase in length as the number of customers in the queue grows. Consequently it is difficult to prove a large deviation principle. Moreover, since service rates depend on the customer type the stationary distribution is not of product form so there is no simple expression for the stationary distribution. Instead, we use a change of measure technique which increases the arrival rate of customers and decreases the departure rate thus making large deviations common.
