인구통계학적 요인 및 원격검침 자료를 활용한 가정용 물 사용패턴 분류 및 물 사용량 예측 연구 (Water consumption forecasting and pattern classification according to demographic factors and automated meter reading)

  • The water consumption data of individual consumers must be analyzed and forecast to establish an effective water demand management plan. A k-mean cluster model that can monitor water use characteristics based on hourly water consumption data measured using automated meter reading devices and demographic factors is developed in this study. In addition, the quantification model that can estimate the daily water consumption is developed. K-mean cluster analysis based on the four clusters shows that the average silhouette coefficient is 0.63, also the silhouette coefficients of each cluster exceed 0.60, thereby verifying the high reliability of the cluster analysis. Furthermore, the clusters are clearly classified based on water usage and water usage patterns. The correlation coefficients of four quantification models for estimating water consumption exceed 0.74, confirming that the models can accurately simulate the investigated demographic data. The statistical significance of the models is considered reasonable, hence, they are applicable to the actual field. Because the use of automated smart water meters has become increasingly popular in recent year, water consumption has been metered remotely in many areas. The proposed methodology and the results obtained in this study are expected to facilitate improvements in the usability of smart water meters in the future.

Quantification of nonlinear seismic response of rectangular liquid tank

  • Seismic response of two dimensional liquid tanks is numerically simulated using fully nonlinear velocity potential theory. Galerkin-weighted-residual based finite element method is used for solving the governing Laplace equation with fully nonlinear free surface boundary conditions and also for velocity recovery. Based on mixed Eulerian-Lagrangian (MEL) method, fourth order explicit Runge-Kutta scheme is used for time integration of free surface boundary conditions. A cubic-spline fitted regridding technique is used at every time step to eliminate possible numerical instabilities on account of Lagrangian node induced mesh distortion. An artificial surface damping term is used which mimics the viscosity induced damping and brings in numerical stability. Four earthquake motions have been suitably selected to study the effect of frequency content on the dynamic response of tank-liquid system. The nonlinear seismic response vis-a-vis linear response of rectangular liquid tank has been studied. The impulsive and convective components of hydrodynamic forces, e.g., base shear, overturning base moment and pressure distribution on tank-wall are quantified. It is observed that the convective response of tank-liquid system is very much sensitive to the frequency content of the ground motion. Such sensitivity is more pronounced in shallow tanks.

  • 본 연구의 목적은 배치 특성의 정량화에 의해 배치 대안들을 비교할 수 있는 객관적인 평가 기준을 정림하는 것이다. 장비배치는 모든 구성 요소들의 기능을 최대로 하고 동시에 공간적인 제한 조건을 만족시키도록 여러 가지 장비들의 위치를 결정하는 설계단계이다. 선박의 경우 설계자가 제시하는 몇 가지 배치안 중 한 가지만 선택하게 되는데 이 과정은 숙련된 전문가의 경험, 지식, 판단에 대한 의존도가 매우 높고 또한, 객관적인 평가가 어렵다. 우리는 이러한 서술적인 언어로 된 것을 퍼지 이론을 통해 정량화하여 배치안을 객관적으로 평가할 수 있는 기준을 제시한다.

MMORPG 기반 게임의 몰입에 대한 정량적 분석 방법 (Quantitative Analysis of Flow in MMORPG Games)

  • 한국의 온라인 게임 시장은 전체 게임 시장의 56.4%를 차지한다. 그 중 MMORPG류의 게임은 온라인 게임시장의 45.27%의 큰 비중을 차지하고 있다. 그런데 대부분의 MMORPG 게임들은 기획과 개발과정에서 일반화된 기준이나 원칙이 아닌 특정 기획자의 주관적 판단에 거의 절대적으로 의존하고 있다. 이런 이유로 신작게임들 중 다수는 시장에서 인정받는 대작 게임과의 차별성이나 창의성을 찾아보기 어렵고 모방작이라는 오해를 받기 쉽다. 본 논문에서는 이런 문제점을 해결하기 위해 특히 게임 몰입 부분에 대한 공통적인 정보 제공 및 정량적 분석 방법을 제안한다. 또한 성공적인 MMORPG 게임들의 몰입에 대한 분석을 통해 제안한 방법이 게임 개발 시 효과적인 가이드가 될 수 있음을 입증해 보인다.

  • Great concerns on geotechnical risk & hazard assessment have been increased due to human and economic damage by natural disasters with recent global climate changes. In this paper, geotechnical problems in particular, landslides which is interested in European countries and North America, were mainly discussed. For these, 18 key topics on geotechnical risk and hazards which had been discussed at the LARAM 2008 workshop in Italy were analyzed after grouping by subjects. Main topic contents consisted of applications such as field measurement, early warning systems, uncertainty analysis of parameters using radar, optical data and statistical theory and so on. And the problems related to analysis of vulnerability and deformation due to earthquakes, investigation of gas zone using seismic reflection data in a landslide area, risk quantification and hazard assessment of landslide movements and multi-dimensional analysis for stability of complex slopes were attracted. Also, there were studies on risk matters of cultural heritage, the blockglide of clayey ground, simulations of debris flows based on GIS, quantification of the failure processes of rock slopes, a meshless method for 3D crack modelling, and finally risk assessment for cryological processes due to global warming.

Stochastic buckling quantification of porous functionally graded cylindrical shells

  • Most of the experimental, theoretical, and numerical studies on the stability of functionally graded composites are deterministic, while there are full of complex interactions of variables with an inherently probabilistic nature, this paper presents a non-intrusive framework to investigate the stochastic nonlinear buckling behaviors of porous functionally graded cylindrical shells exposed to inevitable source-uncertainties. Euler-Lagrange equations are theoretically derived based on the three variable refined shear deformation theory. Closed-form solutions for the shell buckling loads are achieved by solving the deterministic eigenvalue problems. The analytical results are verified with numerical results obtained from finite element analyses that are conducted in the commercial software ABAQUS. The non-intrusive framework is completed by integrating the Monte Carlo simulation with the verified closed-form solutions. The convergence studies are performed to determine the effective pseudorandom draws of the simulation. The accuracy and efficiency of the framework are verified with statistical results that are obtained from the first and second-order perturbation techniques. Eleven cases of individual and compound uncertainties are investigated. Sensitivity analyses are conducted to figure out the five cases that have profound perturbative effects on the shell buckling loads. Complete probability distributions of the first three critical buckling loads are completely presented for each profound uncertainty case. The effects of the shell thickness, volume fraction index, and stochasticity degree on the shell buckling load under compound uncertainties are studied. There is a high probability that the shell has non-unique buckling modes in stochastic environments, which should be known for reliable analysis and design of engineering structures.

  • The inter-development of FMECA is very important to assess the effect of potential failures during system operation on mission, safety and performance. Among these, criticality analysis is a core task that identifies items with high risk and selects the analyzed objects as the key management targets and reflects their effects to the design optimization. In this paper, we analyze the theory related to criticality analysis following US military standard, and propose a method to quantify the failure effect probability for objective criticality analysis. The criticality analysis according to the US military standard depends on the subjective judgment of the failure probability. The methodology for quantifying the failure effect probability is presented by using the reliability theory and the Bayes theorem. The failure rate is calculated by applying the method to quantify failure effect probability.

  • When setting the RAM objectives, various data such as expert opinions and the historical data of similar types of equipment are used. However, many times subjectivity is involved in the process of merging and utilizing data, and there are many cases where some information is omitted or an ambiguous method is used. Most of the previous work focused only on the process or method of calculating values using well-organized data rather than manipulating raw data. But if the data manipulation process is not objective, it is difficult to guarantee the accuracy of the results even if the calculation logic and method are accurate. This study proposes a systematic data merging process used to set the RAM objectives using the evidence theory. The proposed method can be used to avoid information loss and merge the data objectively. Moreover, contribute to improving the accuracy of setting the RAM objectives in the future.

  • Human can recognize the environment by detecting spatial perception, and most of environmental perception depends on visual perception. In view that the acquisition of spatial information is accomplished through visual recognition, analysis of visual structure contained in the space is thought to be very important sector in studying the characteristic of the space. The history of studies on visual structure of space, however, wasn't too long, and furthermore most of the theories up to now focused on static and planar principles. Under this circumstance, this study is intended to suggest new theory by combining Isovist theory and VGA theory that have been actively discussed as the theory on visual perception-based spatial structure and supplementing them between each other to expand into 3-dimensional model. The suggested theory is a complex principle in dimensional and dynamic form in consideration of visual direction, which forms 3-dimentional virtual model that enables visualization of the property of spatial structure as the routine discriminating whether visual connection is made between viewing point and target point, and the target point is included in the visual field quadrangular pyramid or not. Such model was built up by an analysis application where four probe paths were applied to simulate the visual structure that occurs in virtual space, and then the characteristics were analyzed through quantification. In result, in spite of the path with equal space and equal length, significant difference in the acquired quantity of spatial information could be found depending on the probe sequence. On the contrary, it was found that probe direction may not affect the acquired quantity of information and visual property of the space.

고속도로의 주행속도예측 및 주행환경만족도 모형 개발에 관한 연구 (Development of Predicting Models of the Operating Speed and Operating environment Satisfaction Model in Expressways)

  • 고속도로이용자가 주행할 때 도로기하구조를 정확하게 파악하지 못하면, 도로이용자는 자신의 감각과 인식에 의존해 판단을 내리게 되기 때문에 고속도로의 주행성을 평가할 때 설계자와는 다른 판단을 내리게 될 수도 있다. 따라서 도로이용자의 기대심리를 만족시키면서 안전성, 쾌적성 등을 확보하기 위해서는 정확한 주행속도를 예측할 필요가 있다. 또한, 고속도로의 기하구조적인 주행성뿐만 아니라 도로이용자가 이러한 구성요소의 조화에 의해 느끼는 감성적 측면에서의 주행환경만족도에 대한 인식의 변화를 파악할 필요가 있다. 이에 본 연구에서는 주행속도 예측모형 구축하기 위해 6개 고속도로(경부, 서해안, 영동, 남해, 중앙, 호남)를 대상으로 주행속도에 영향을 미치는 요인을 크게 선형요소, 교통운영특성 요소로 분류하였다. 주행속도에 영향을 미치는 요인을 대상으로 다중회귀를 이용한 주행속도예측모형 구축 및 검증 결과, 통계적으로 모두 적합한 것으로 나타났다. 또한, 본 연구에서는 고속도로 이용자를 대상으로 개별면접 설문조사를 통해 수집된 주행환경만족도 이미지 데이터를 바탕으로 수량화 제II류 및 주성분분석을 실시하여 고속도로 주행환경만족도에 대한 영향 요인을 규명하였다. 또한 수량화 제I류 및 구조방정식을 이용하여 사회인식 및 고속도로 이용자의 실제인식의 변화가 고려된 고속도로의 주행환경만족도 모형을 구축하였다. 본 연구에서 구축된 모형을 통해 주행속도와 같은 정량적인 요인뿐만 아니라 도로이용자가 느끼는 고속도로의 주행환경만족도와 같은 정성적인 요인에 대한 결과도 제시할 수 있어서 도로이용자가 느끼는 변화된 교통 환경과 인식여부가 반영된 고속도로의 주행성을 평가할 수 있다는 데에 그 의의가 있다.
