곱 정규확률변수의 합에 대한 소표본 점근분표와 FSK 통신에의 응용 (Small Sample Asymptotic Distribution for the Sum of Product of Normal Variables with Application to FSK Communication)

  • 본 논문에서는 정규확률변수의 곱과 그의 합으로 표현되는 통계량의 분포에 대한 효과적인 근사법을 다루었다. 이차 형식에 대한 안장점근사에 기초한 이 방법은 기존의 정규근사에 비해 매우 정확한 결과를 제공한다. 또한 이에 대한 응용으로 FSK 통신에서 발생하는 문제를 제시하고, 그 해결책으로 본 논문에서 제안한 안장점근사법을 사용하였다. 모의실험을 통해 제안된 근사법이 중심영역은 물론, 통신이론에서 주요 관심 영역인, 극단 꼬리부분의 확률 근사에도 매우 유용한 방법임을 확인하였다.

  • For a Borel function ${\psi}:\mathbb{R}{\times}\mathbb{R}{\rightarrow}\mathbb{R}$ satisfying the functional equation $\psi$ (s + t, u + v) + $\psi$(s - t, u - v) = $2\psi$(s, u) + $2\psi$(t, v), we show that it satisfies the functional equation $$\psi$$(s, t) = s(s - t)$$\psi$$(1, 0) + $$st\psi$$(1, 1) + t(t - s)$$\psi$$(0, 1). Using this, we prove the stability of the functional equation f(ax + ay, bz + bw) + f(ax - ay, bz - bw) = 2abf(x, z) + 2abf(y,w) in Banach modules over a unital $C^*$-algebra.

A MEASURE ZERO STABILITY OF A FUNCTIONAL EQUATION ASSOCIATED WITH INNER PRODUCT SPACE

  • Let X, Y be real normed vector spaces. We exhibit all the solutions $f:X{\rightarrow}Y$ of the functional equation f(rx + sy) + rsf(x - y) = rf(x) + sf(y) for all $x,y{\in}X$, where r, s are nonzero real numbers satisfying r + s = 1. In particular, if Y is a Banach space, we investigate the Hyers-Ulam stability problem of the equation. We also investigate the Hyers-Ulam stability problem on a restricted domain of the following form ${\Omega}{\cap}\{(x,y){\in}X^2:{\parallel}x{\parallel}+{\parallel}y{\parallel}{\geq}d\}$, where ${\Omega}$ is a rotation of $H{\times}H{\subset}X^2$ and $H^c$ is of the first category. As a consequence, we obtain a measure zero Hyers-Ulam stability of the above equation when $f:\mathbb{R}{\rightarrow}Y$.

ZERO-DENSITY ESTIMATES FOR EPSTEIN ZETA FUNCTIONS OF CLASS NUMBERS 2 OR 3

  • We investigate the zeros of Epstein zeta functions associated with positive definite quadratic forms with rational coefficients in the vertical strip ${\sigma}_1$ < ${\Re}s$ < ${\sigma}_2$, where 1/2 < ${\sigma}_1$ < ${\sigma}_2$ < 1. When the class number h of the quadratic form is bigger than 1, Voronin gave a lower bound and Lee gave an asymptotic formula for the number of zeros. Recently Gonek and Lee improved their results by providing a new upper bound for the error term when h > 3. In this paper, we consider the cases h = 2, 3 and provide an upper bound for the error term, smaller than the one for the case h > 3.

  • The relative class number $H_d(f)$ of a real quadratic field $K=\mathbb{Q}(\sqrt{m})$ of discriminant d is the ratio of class numbers of $O_f$ and $O_K$, where $O_K$ denotes the ring of integers of K and $O_f$ is the order of conductor f given by $\mathbb{Z}+fO_K$. In a recent paper of A. Furness and E. A. Parker the relative class number of $\mathbb{Q}(\sqrt{m})$ has been investigated using continued fraction in the special case when $(\sqrt{m})$ has a diagonal form. Here, we extend their result and show that there exists a conductor f of relative class number 1 when the continued fraction of $(\sqrt{m})$ is non-diagonal of period 4 or 5. We also show that there exist infinitely many real quadratic fields with any power of 2 as relative class number if there are infinitely many Mersenne primes.

MINIMAL QUADRATIC RESIDUE CYCLIC CODES OF LENGTH $2^{n}$

  • Let F be a finite field of prime power order q(odd) and the multiplicative order of q modulo $2^{n}\;(n>1)\;be\; {\phi}(2^{n})/2$. If n > 3, then q is odd number(prime or prime power) of the form $8m{\pm}3$. If q = 8m - 3, then the ring $R_{2^n} = F[x]/ < x^{2^n}-1 >$ has 2n primitive idempotents. The explicit expressions for these primitive idempotents are obtained and the minimal QR cyclic codes of length $2^{n}$ generated by these idempotents are completely described. If q = 8m + 3 then the expressions for the 2n - 1 primitive idempotents of $R_{2^n}$ are obtained. The generating polynomials and the upper bounds of the minimum distance of minimal QR cyclic codes generated by these 2n-1 idempotents are also obtained. The case n = 2,3 is dealt separately.

  • The PID controller is one of the most popular devices for control systems and the adjustment of its parameters has been generally accomplished by semi-empirical rules and has been considered only in the view of improvement of the control performance. But in modern control theory, a quadratic form is introduced as a criterion function which considers not only to improve quality of control but also to save energy required for the control. In this paper, authors propose a method of the parameter adjustment of the PID controller by means of maximum principle minimizing the quadratic criterion function and establish a link between the conventional parameter adjustment method and the technique of the modern optimal control theory in the design of a PID controller.

  • A new robust Kalman filter is designed for the linear discrete-time system with norm-bounded parametric uncertainties. Sum quadratic constraint, which describes the uncertainties of the system, is converted into an indefinite quadratic form to be minimized in indefinite inner product space. This minimization problem is solved by the new robust Kalman filter. Since the new filter is obtained by simply modifying the conventional Kalman filter, robust filtering scheme can be more readily designed using the proposed method in comparison with the existing robust Kalman filters. A numerical example demonstrates the robustness and the improvement of the proposed filter compared with the existing filters.

  • This paper presents a predictive control with H$_{\infty}$ suboptimal performance which is robust to disturbances and has a guaranteed stability. In order to derive the control law conveniently, state-space based approach, where the state variable is involved explicitly in the controller design and implementation is allowed. So an input-output model is converted to an equivalent observable canonical state-space form. The suggested control guarantees the norm bounded system output values from disturbances. A systematic way using the LMI method is presented to obtain appropriate parameters for Quadratic stability condition and optimization problem.

Variance components for two-way nested design data

  • This paper discusses the use of projections for the sums of squares in the analyses of variance for two-way nested design data. The model for this data is assumed to only have random effects. Two different sizes of experimental units are required for a given experimental situation, since nesting is assumed to occur both in the treatment structure and in the design structure. So, variance components are coming from the sources of random effects of treatment factors and error terms in different sizes of experimental units. The model for this type of experimental situation is a random effects model with more than one error terms and therefore estimation of variance components are concerned. A projection method is used for the calculation of sums of squares due to random components. Squared distances of projections instead of using the usual reductions in sums of squares that show how to use projections to estimate the variance components associated with the random components in the assumed model. Expectations of quadratic forms are obtained by the Hartley's synthesis as a means of calculation.
