프리캐스트 바닥판과 PSC 거더 전단연결재의 수평전단강도 평가 (Evaluation of horizontal shear strength of the shear connectors between precast decks and PSC girders)

  • A new shear connection for the application of precast decks to PSC girders was proposed and push-off tests were conducted to evaluate the horizontal shear strength of the shear connection. Major parameters of the tests were connector type, shank area, vertical load, surface condition and bedding height. Judging from the test results, shear strength of the suggested shear connection was proportional to the shank area and yield strength of the connectors and was in inverse proportion to the bedding height. Shear connection with shear key at the surface showed better performance. An empirical equation for the evaluation of the shear strength of the shear connection without considering bond strength was proposed and it showed good correlation with the test results.

Behavior of headed shear stud connectors subjected to cyclic loading

  • The objective of this study is to investigate the actual behavior of studs in structures under earthquake load through laboratory tests and numerical simulation. A test program including eighteen specimens was devised with consideration of different concrete strengths and stud diameters. Six of specimens were subjected to monotonically increasing loading while the others were subjected to cyclic loading. Mechanical behavior including the failure mechanism, load-slip relationship, stiffness degradation, energy dissipation and the damage accumulation was obtained from the test results. An accurate numerical model based on the ABAQUS software was developed and validated against the test results. The results obtained from the finite element (FE) model matched well with the experimental results. Furthermore, based on the experimental and numerical data, the design formulas for expressing the skeleton curve were proposed and the simplified hysteretic model of load versus displacement was then established. It is demonstrated that the proposed formulas and simplified hysteretic model have a good match with the test results.

소방공무원의 직업 적성도 도입에 관한 연구 (Study on the adoption of vocational aptitude test in the fire service)

  • Recently, increases in major disasters such as fires, earthquakes and typhoons have raised public expectations for safety. In addition to this increase in expectations of safety, the government continues to push for more manpower and better treatment for firefighters who are operating in the disaster scene. Despite the improvement of working conditions and increased welfare for firefighters, however, the incidence and turnover of various mental diseases continues to increase. It is reported that many of the diseases such as post-traumatic stress disorder and the turnover of firefighters are due to a mismatch in individual's personality and work environment. In this study, 108 firefighters were evaluated for their vocational aptitude in the new curriculum. Based on the analysis results, new firefighters were proposed to provide employment and education training improvements, and to provide job security suitable for the individual's personality type through the introduction of the vocational aptitude test for firefighters who are working in the fire service. In addition, we would like to use the vocational aptitude test as a material for reducing post-traumatic stress disorder and increasing turnover through long-term tracking and observation, rather than from a one-off perspective.

A Trade-Off between the Efficiency, Ripple and Volume of a DC-DC Converter

  • In space qualified DC-DC converters, optimization of the following electrical characteristics is of greater interest in comparison with other specifications; power loss/efficiency, output voltage ripple and volume/weight. The main goal of this paper is to present an appropriate solution for optimizing the above mentioned characteristics. For this purpose, a comprehensive power loss model of a DC-DC converter is fully developed. Proper models are also demonstrated for assessment of the output voltage ripple and the utilized transformer volume as the bulkiest component in a DC-DC converter. In order to provide a test bed for evaluation of the proposed models, a 50W push-pull DC-DC converter is designed and implemented. Finally, a novel cost function with three assigned weight functions is proposed in order to have a trade-off among the power loss, the output voltage ripple and the utilized transformer volume of the converter. The cost function is optimized for applications in which volume has the highest priority in comparison with power loss and ripple. The optimization results show that the transformer volume can be decreased by up to 51% and this result is verified by experimental results. The developed models and algorithms in this paper can be used for other DC-DC converter topologies with some minor modifications.

콘크리트 포장 슬래브와 보조기층 간 마찰특성 모형화 (Modeling of Friction Characteristic Between Concrete Pavement Slab and Subbase)

  • 콘크리트 슬래브는 온도 및 수분의 영향을 받아 체적이 변화된다. 이때 슬래브와 보조기층 간의 마찰저항이 슬래브 체적변화를 구속하여 인장응력이 발생되고 경우에 따라 균열이 유발되기도 한다. 따라서 연구자들은 Push-off 실험을 실시하여 슬래브와 보조기층간의 마찰특성을 파악하려고 노력해 왔다. 최근에는 마찰특성에 의한 콘크리트 포장의 거동을 유한요소법으로 해석하려는 연구가 수행되었다. 본 연구에서는 국내 콘크리트 포장에 주로 사용되는 린콘크리트, 쇄석, 아스팔트 보조기층에 대하여 실시된 마찰실험 결과를 바탕으로 슬래브와 보조기층 간 마찰특성을 조사하였다. 비선형의 마찰저항과 변위의 관계를 이중선형화하는 에너지 방법이 제시되었다. 마찰실험을 3차원 유한요소 프로그램 ABAQUS로 모형화하였으며 해석결과를 실험결과와 비교하여 모형을 검증하였다. 비선형과 이중선형 마찰저항-변위 관계를 각각 입력값으로 사용하여 얻은 해석결과를 비교하여 에너지 방법으로 개발된 이중선형 모형의 타당성을 검증하였다. 일반적인 국내 콘크리트 포장을 ABAQUS와 EverFE로 모형화하고 해석결과를 비교하여 이중선형 모형의 적용성을 평가하였다.

  • The full-width, full-depth precast panel system is very efficient for the rehabilitation of deteriorated decks as well as for new bridge construction.. The horizontal bond strength at the interface between the two interconnected elements is of primary importance in order to achieve composite action. The strength of the bond between the two precast members should be high enough to prevent any progressive slip from taking place. However, the case when both of the interconnected elements are precast members bonded by means of grout, is not currently addressed by KBDC or AASHTO. This is the main impetus for this study. A total 43 push-off tests were performed to evaluate the horizontal bond strength and to recommend the best practice for the system. Test parameters included different interface surface conditions, different amount and different types of shear connectors. The presence of the shear keys at the top surface of the beam increased the interface bond capacity tremendously compared to the bond capacity with a different surface conditions.

Modelling of headed stud in steel-precast composite beams

  • Use of composite steel construction with precast hollow core slabs is now popular in the UK, but the present knowledge in shear capacity of the headed shear studs for this type of composite construction is very limited. Currently, all the information is based on the results obtained from experimental push-off tests. A finite element model to simulate the behaviour of headed stud shear connection in composite beam with precast hollow core slabs is described. The model is based on finite element method and takes into account the linear and non-linear behaviour of all the materials. The model has been validated against the test results, for which the accuracy of the model used is demonstrated. Parametric studies showing the effect of the change in transverse gap size, transverse reinforcement diameter and in-situ concrete strength on the shear connection capacity are presented.

  • One important test for formation and grading of the lithium-ion battery is to confirm the performance of the battery while discharging battery down to zero volts. In this paper, a novel charge/discharge converter with zero-voltage discharge function is proposed. The proposed converter is able to discharge the battery until the voltage reaches to zero volts. The phase-shifted full bridge method is used to charge the battery and the current-fed push-pull method with bidirectional switches is used for the discharge. The ZVS turn-on is achieved in the charge operation and the ZVS turn-off in the discharge operation. The performance of the system is verified by the experiments using lithium-ion batteries.

유아와 성인의 보행 특성 비교 (Comparative gait characteristics of infant and adults)

  • To understand the developmental process of the gait pattern from infancy to the adult, a gait analysis for a 14 months female infant has been performed for ten weeks. The gait parameters has been measured every other week since the week when she was able to walk without aid. The infant gait data at the tenth week of the test shows a similar pattern to the adult gait in many aspects including initial knee flexion, initial ankle dorsiflexion, the push-off pattern, etc. There is not a significant change in the hip flexion angle from week to week from the two weeks after the test started. To check the individuality in the collected data, more infant subjects are being tested presently.

콘크리트 슬래브와 보조기층 사이의 마찰특성 조사 (Investigation of Friction Characteristics between Concrete Slab and Subbase Layers)

  • 본 연구에서는 슬래브와 보조기층 간의 마찰 특성을 조사하기 위하여 국내 콘크리트 포장에 주로 사용되는 린 콘크리트, 쇄석, 아스팔트 보조기층에 대하여 마찰력 실험을 실시하였다. 이 외에도 분리막 사용 여부와 보조기층의 습윤 상태를 실험변수로 사용하였다. 슬래브에 40mm/hour의 속도로 수평하중을 가한 1차 하중 재하 시와 안정화 상태(2차 및 3차) 및 습윤상태(4차)에서의 슬래브의 수평변위와 마찰계수를 측정하였다. 1차 하중재하 시 린 콘크리트, 아스팔트, 쇄석, 그리고 분리막을 사용한 보조기층 순으로 최대 마찰계수가 컸으며, 안정화 상태에서는 아스팔트, 쇄석, 린 콘크리트 그리고 분리막을 사용한 보조기층 순으로 크게 측정되었다. 분리막을 사용한 보조기층은 습윤 상태에 의한 영향이 거의 없었으나 분리막을 사용하지 않은 쇄석 및 아스팔트 보조기층은 습윤 상태로 인하여 마찰계수가 감소하였다. 향후 슬래브의 두께와 아스팔트의 온도 민감성이 미치는 영향에 대한 추가 마찰력 실험이 수행될 것이다. 그리고, 실험 결과를 이용한 구조해석을 통하여 슬래브와 보조기층 간의 마찰특성이 콘크리트 포장의 거동 및 공용성에 미치는 영향을 조사할 계획이다.
