SURFACES WITH POINTWISE 1-TYPE GAUSS MAP

  • In this article, we study generalized slant cylindrical surfaces (GSCS's) with pointwise 1-type Gauss map of the first and second kinds. Our main results state that GSCS's with pointwise 1-type Gauss map of the first kind coincide with surfaces of revolution with constant mean curvature; and the right cones are the only polynomial kind GSCS's with pointwise 1-type Gauss map of the second kind.

  • An overview of author activity in the area diffractive LCDs are given. The formation of colour spectrum DL CDs is made by switchable phase diffraction gratings created in a LC layer due to using of comb-like electrodes. The offered DLCDs functionate without polarizes, have high contrast and spectral of pure colours, broad viewing ngles. The existing production equipment can be adapted to manufacturing of DLCD without considerable alterations.

  • pure Mg and some Mg alloys are relatively rapidly corroded after operation, resulting in the decrease of mechanical strength and change of local ion concentration. In this study, the corrosion mechanism of biodegradable implant materials was investigated by corrosion tests of the Mg alloy in Hank's solution. Particularly, the crystal structures and chemical bonding state of corrosion reactants was systematically examined.

LORENTZIAN MANIFOLDS: A CHARACTERIZATION WITH SEMICONFORMAL CURVATURE TENSOR

  • In this paper we characterize semiconformally flat spacetimes and a spacetime with harmonic semiconformal curvature tensor. At first in a semiconformally flat perfect fluid spacetime we obtain a state equation and prove that in particular for dimension n = 4, the spacetime represents a model for incoherent radiation. Next we prove that perfect fluid spacetime with harmonic semiconformal curvature tensor is of Petrov type I, D or O and the spacetime is a GRW spacetime. As a consequence we obtain several corollaries.

  • In this paper we introduce the reciprocal-negative Fermat's equation induced by the famous equation in the Fermat's Last Theorem, establish the general solution in the simplest cases and the differential solution to the equation, and investigate, then, the generalized Hyers-Ulam stability in a $quasi-{\beta}-normed$ space with both the direct estimation method and the fixed point approach.

  • We study MDS(maximum distance separable) self-dual codes over Galois ring R = GR(2m, r). We prove that there exists an MDS self-dual code over R of length n if (n - 1) divides (2r - 1), and 2m divides n. We also provide the current state of the problem for the existence of MDS self-dual codes over Galois rings.

  • In this study, we would like to state two refined results related to Hermite Hadamard type inequality for convex functions with two distinct techniques. Hence our obtained results would be better than the results already established for the class of convex functions. Applications to trapezoidal rule and special means are also discussed.

두 탑 PSA공정의 상세 동적모사 및 초기운전조건 결정 (Rigorous dynamic simulation and determination of initial operating conditions for two-bed PSA processes)

  • A rigorous dynamic simulation was performed in binary gas mixture H$_{2}$/CO (70:30 vol.%) to determinate start-up operating conditions of PSA(Pressure Swing Adsorption) processes. The rigorous dynamic model for the PSA process contains an Ergun equation for expressing the pressure drop in a bed, and valve equations to compute the boundary pressure change of the bed. As the result of the continuous dynamic simulation of 100 operating cyles in various initial conditions, the unsteady-state appeared in the early period and the cyclic steady-state came out about 20th cycle in feed condition and vaccum condition, and 30th cycle in pure H$_{2}$ condition. As time goes by valve equations made change the pressure at each end of the bed in ressurization, countercurrunt-depressurization and pressure equalization steps. The H$_{2}$ purity and the recovery is 99.99% and 86.73% respectively, which is slightly higher than the experimental data. Main contributiion of this study includes supplying fundamental technologies of handling combined variables PSA processes by developing rigorous models.

A Study of a Hydrophobic Surface: Comparing Pure Water and Contaminated Water

  • The flow of sewage has been studied for hundreds of years. Reducing drag in pipes can allow sewer to be removed easily and quickly. Drag reduction is not only a macroscale issue. Physical and chemical properties of the nano-scale can affect flow at the macroscopic scale. In this paper the predictability of hydrophobicity at the nano-scale is studied. Molecular dynamics simulations were used to calculate the range of contact angles of water droplets in equilibrium on a pillared graphite surface. It was found that at a pillar height of two graphite layers there was the largest range of contact angles. It is observed that at this height the droplet begins to transition from the Wenzel state to the Cassie-Baxter state. Surfaces with larger pillar heights have much larger contact angles corresponding to a more hydrophobic surface. Silicon dioxide was also simulated in the water droplet. The contaminant slight decreased the contact angle of the water droplet.

Influence of Dislocation Substructure on Ultrasonic Velocity under Tensile Deformation

  • The influence of dislocation substructure of metallic materials on ultrasonic velocity has been experimentally investigated. The test materials of pure Cu, brass (Cu-35Zn), 2.25Cr-1Mo steel, and AISI 316 with different stacking fault energy (SFE) are plastically deformed in order to generate dislocation substructures. The longitudinal wave velocit $(C_L)$ decreases as a function of tensile strain in each material. The $C_L$ of Cu-35Zn and AISI 316 decreases monotonously with tensile strain, but $C_L$ of Cu and 2.25Cr-1Mo steel shows plateau phenomena due to the stable dislocation substructure. The variation of ultrasonic velocity with the extent of dislocation damping and dislocation substructures is discussed.
