Shenming(神明) exists everywhere in the universe; it affects human beings to feel and contact ideal and peaceful state of Shen(神). Shenming theory(神明思想) in ${\ulcorner}$Hwang Ti Nei Ching${\lrcorner}$ (黃帝內經) was established by ancient Northeastern Asians who were trying to apply paradigm called TianRenHeYi theory(天人合-思想), unifying man and the Great Spirit(絶對精神) of the universe. Based on present, Shenming(神明) is an idea that can estimate will of Shen(神) which has a key to the future; such concept is founded by both human's mind and action that are designed to seek for the uncertain future. Very pure and devoted mind can sympathize with Shen(神) to accept Shenming(神明). Sehnming theory(神明思想) in ${\ulcorner}$Hwang Ti Nei Ching${\lrcorner}$ (黃帝內經) has a basic concept of living balanced life as a human by accepting Shenming(神明), the Spirit of Universe. Thus, it can be summarized into a phrase, 'Shenming(神明) is a process that human conjures his ultimate destiny called the Great Spirit(絶對精神) in himself.' If a man would be guided by Shenming(神明), the Spirit of Universe, he can live peacefully. Therefore, it is essential to study Shenming theory(神明思想) in ${\ulcorner}$Hwang Ti Nei Ching${\lrcorner}$ (黃帝內經) to aid present people's mental health.

Walter Gropius, famous architect of Bauhaus, once treated of pure mind which was revealed in the system of object and its phenomena through sense of sight while examining material being and illusive being. And Thomas Aquinas said that man can have a creative power only with modest mental state void of prejudice saying that he expected God to come to him after his soul went out of him. The same thing was said by so many great philosophers and thinkers other than him. I think his saying, "God comes after Soul's escape from the body for a new creation", has a real truth for all times and places and beauty itself beyond expression. Why\ulcorner The reason why the saying is so true is because it has a Yin and Yang Idea, that is, the Soul means a dark spirit correspondent to Yin between both oriental ideas and God does a bright spirit correspondent to Yang between them. By reason of this idea, I would like to assert that we should take it granted that we stand in need of the same bright Yang's spirit as God has for the new creation, and let the Yang's bright spirit come to our minds. We can call it divine 'Providence', or call it God's guidance, which we cannot help accepting as a man's fatality. As God was pleased after he made man and all the creatures by dint of his design, so man was pleased after he made everything he needed by the same design that he accepted from God. In spite of pleasure of different dimensions from what God and Man has each other, their way of empathies were all the same. In this paper I compared a worldly lower conception by which man designed his products for his sensuous satisfaction with a higher conception by which God designed his creatures for his mental satisfaction. I intended to infer what destined relation there must be between both God's and man's creations, trying to remind designers that they have to confess to have not so divine a providence as God has for creation because I think the real truth is that they had regarded their works of product design as a routine occurrence for their physical convenience in the industrial plans.ial plans.

본 연구는 신라시대 이래 일반 민중들에게 가장 영향력이 컸던 경전 속의 땅 극락정토가 사찰에 어떠한 모습으로 현현되고 있는지를 밝히기 위한 목적으로 진행되었다. 본 연구에서는 우선 극락정토에 대한 연구동향을 살펴 본 논문의 성격을 분명히 하였으며, 정토사상의 소의경전인 관무량수경에서 설해지고 있는 극락정토의 7가지의 경관상과 그것을 그림으로 표현한 관경변상도의 내용을 현실적으로 해석하였다. 다음으로는 우리나라 사찰 가운데에서 정토사상에 근거하여 지어진 정토계(미타계) 사찰에서 극락정토의 수승한 경관이 어떻게 현현되었는지를 규명하는 단계로 진행되었다. 연구의 결과, 한국의 정토계 사찰에서는 관무량수경에서 관한 극락정토의 수승한 경관을 실제 사찰의 경관으로 현현하고 있음을 발견할 수 있었다. 그러나 연구대상사찰에서 나타나는 이러한 경관요소나 경관성은 한국의 사찰에서 흔히 나타나는 것일 수도 있어서 관무량수경의 내용이 정토계 사찰에서만 나타나는 특징적인 현상으로 보기는 어려웠다. 그렇지만 부석사와 용연사에서 발견되는 서방에 대한 의미 부여, 여러 사찰에서 나타나는 계류에 놓인 다리의 명칭, 석단이나 계단에 적용된 법수, 누각의 명칭 등은 관무량수경의 내용을 현실적으로 보여주는 정토계 사찰이 가지는 독특한 현상으로 파악되었다. 본 연구의 결과에서 특별히 주목하고자 하는 것은 관무량수경이나 관경변상도에서 적극적으로 강조되고 있고, 또한 빠짐없이 표현되고 있는 연지는 그 사례를 연구대상사찰에서 찾아보기 어려워, 지금까지 정토계 사찰에서 연지가 예외 없이 조성되었을 것이라는 생각은 수정되어야 한다는 것으로 이에 대한 연구는 앞으로 지속되어야 할 것으로 본다.

In fashion history, the color "green" has been used from ancient to modern times constantly. Especially nowadays, the worth of green in fashion is becoming bigger than ever before to express the longing for pure nature. The purpose of this study is to define green's imageries in western costume history. For the basic about green, first of all, this study researched green of origin, effect and costumes in western history, then classified green's imageries. Green's imageries expressed in western costumes can be divided mainly into a 'nature imagery' and a 'religious divinity imagery'. Nature imagery was extended again into 'youth, devil, citizen and ecology image'. Youth image came from the luxurious feature of nature and it was extended again into 'innocent love, virgin and immaturity'. Religious divinity imagery has been represented in the ancient Egypt, Islam and Christian religion. In those cultures, green was considered as a sacred color of Osiris, Mahomet and Holy spirit.

This study attempts to illuminate Ijema's philosophy of Four-Constitution as a new political theory of human beings as it has been regarded as the philosophy of Body-Politics and Life World[Body-Community], the notion of which was formulated quite uniquely according to the doctrine of Post-Juhi(朱子) in Joseon(朝鮮) dynasty. The philosophy of Four-Constitution was the result of succession of and reflection upon a long tradition; since the crisis aroused of Confucianism as a pragmatic science and a pure theory of science, after having collided with the science of the west, Ijema as a Confucian scholar and a oriental medicine struck upon and opened a new way to a discursive solution, the philosophy of Four-Constitution as Body Politics and Life World of New Paradigm by reconsidering the fundamental spirit and ideology of the doctrine of confucian tradition.

Activated microglia by neuronal injury or inflammatory stimulation overproduce nitric oxide (NO) by inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS) and reactive oxygen species (ROS) such as superoxide anion, resulting in neurodegenerative diseases. The toxic peroxynitrite (ONOO$^-$), the reaction product of NO and superoxide anion further contributes to oxidative neurotoxicity. We tried to evaluate the effects of two kinds of varieties of Perilla frutescens var japnica Hara on the NO production in lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-activated microglia. The perilla cultivars of Namcheondeulkkae (NC) and Boradeulkkae (BR) were developed by pure line from the local variety and by a cross between 'deulkkae' and 'chajogi', respectively. Spirit, hexane, chloroform and butanol fractions of the leaves of NC and BR inhibited the production of NO in LPS-activated microglia. The fractions of BR showed stronger activity than NC and the spirit extracts was the most potent in both cultivars. The solvent fractions of BR suppressed the expression of protein and mRNA of iNOS in LPS-activated microglial cells. Moreover, the extracts of NC and BR showed the activity of peroxynitrite scavenging in cell free bioassay system. These results imply that Namcheondeulkkae and Boradeulkkae might have neuroprotective activity through the inhibition of NO production by activated microglial cells and peroxynitrite scavenging activity.

한일 위안부 합의 이후 관객들의 관심 속에 소개된 두 편의 영화 <귀향>과 <눈길>은 모두 '위안부' 소녀들의 우정을 다루면서 살아 돌아 온자가 살아 돌아오지 못한 자를 고향과 저승으로 보내는 해원의 이야기를 다루었다. 기존의 '위안부' 서사들과는 다르게, 이 두 영화는 '위안부' 여성의 전장에서의 로맨스 플롯을 가지고 있지 않으며, 일종의 여성공간을 구축하고 있다. 현실에서의 새로운 젊은 여성의 존재는 개인적 우정의 이야기를 자매애의 공동체 차원으로 확장시킨다. 특히 <눈길>은 '위안부' 할머니가 새로운 후속 세대 여성에게 증언을 전수하는 증언작업의 가능성을 제시하고 있다. 영화적 현재에서는, 이렇듯 일본군 '위안부' 서사를 여성주의적으로 사고할 수 있는 가능성을 보여주고 있지만, 과거 식민지 시절의 재현은 많은 부분 기존의 가부장제적인 민족주의적 관점을 벗어나고 있지 못하다. 주인공들이 여전히 '순수하고 순결한' 조선소녀들로 설정되어 있다는 것이 대표적이다.

The leaves of Perilla frutescens Britt. var. japonica Hara (Labiatae) are often used in gourmet food in several Asian countries. Two kinds of perilla cultivars, Namcheon (NC) and Bora (BR), have been respectively developed in Korea by the pure line of 'deulkkae' from the local variety and by the cross of 'deulkkae' and 'chajogi'. The present study evaluated and compared antioxidant and neuroprotective effects of the fractions prepared from the leaves of the two cultivars using cell-free bioassay systems and primary cultured rat cortical cells. We found that the spirit, chloroform, hexane and butanol fractions from NC and BR leaves inhibited lipid peroxidation initiated in rat brain homogenates by $Fe^{2+}$ and L-ascorbic acid. In contrast, only the spirit and butanol fractions from both cultivars exhibited 1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl radical scavenging activity. Among the fractions tested, the butanol fractions from NC and BR leaves exhibited the most potent antioxidant properties, and the butanol fraction from BR was more potent than the NC fraction. In consistence with these findings, the butanol fractions from both cultivars protected primary cultured cortical cells from the oxidative damage induced by $H_2O_2$ or xanthine and xanthine oxidase, with the BR butanol fraction being more active. The butanol fractions from NC and BR did not produce cytotoxicity in our cultures treated for 24 h at the concentrations of up to $100\;{\mu}g/ml$. Taken together, these results indicate that the leaves of the two cultivars of Perilla frutescens exert antioxidant and neuroprotective effects, and that the butanol fraction from BR leaves exhibits the most potent antioxidative neuroprotection among the fractions tested in this study.

본 연구는 지역기반 음악사조로서 '홍대 사운드'의 정체성을 '미8군 사운드'와 영국 '런던 펑크'와의 비교분석을 통해 고찰해본다. 홍대음악은 90년대 클럽을 중심으로 활동하던 밴드들이 연주하던, 주류의 음악과는 장르적·산업적으로 다른 비주류적 감성의 음악을 통칭한다. 하지만 '인디'라는 산업적인 관점에서의 정체성이 음악사조로서의 홍대음악에 대한 학술적 접근을 어렵게 만드는 것도 사실이다. 그러므로 서구의 다른 음악사조와 마찬가지로 지역기반의 음악사조로서 홍대 사운드의 정체성을 명확하게 재정립하는 것이 필요하다. '미8군 사운드'는 50년대 미군의 한국 주둔 이후 자연스럽게 형성된 미8군부대 내 공연무대에서 연주되던 음악적 경향을 통칭한다. 미군 커뮤니티의 위문공연을 위해 오디션 시스템을 통해 선발된 국내 뮤지션들은 그들의 입맛에 맞는 서양의 최신 대중음악을 자연스럽게 익혔고, 이는 한국대중문화에 빠르게 전파되어갔다. 미8군 사운드의 산업시스템은 오늘날 '케이팝'과 매우 흡사하지만, 새롭게 등장한 록 장르를 수용하여 새로운 음악경향을 주도했다는 점에서 홍대 사운드와 유사한 면을 발견할 수 있다. 런던 펑크는 70년대 중반 영국 젊은이들의 사회적 불만과 저항정신을 담은 록 장르로, 기본에 충실한 음악적 구성과 인디의 DIY정신을 내세운 대안적 음악이었다. 홍대 사운드는 산업구조나 음악 스타일, 정신적인 면에서 런던 펑크의 많은 부분을 계승하였다. 하지만 시류의 변화에 영합하여 주류로 편입된 런던펑크와 달리 홍대 사운드는 끊임없는 변화를 모색하면서도 인디의 기본정신과 진정성을 포기하지 않으며 음악사적으로 유래를 찾기 힘든 지속성을 유지하고 있다.
