Sea gives us a lot of benefits and one of them is a role of transporting goods easily by ship. Accordingly the industrial area or the container yard is constructed either on the low sea or near the sea. Sea dredging ground is made by pumping them using dredge pump to the inside of embankment after dredging undersea soils. The dredging ground after pumping is in the slurry state but as time goes, consolidation by the own weight happens and evaporation happens at the surface of dredging ground. The evaporation causes the crest layer in the upper side of dredging ground. Under the crest layer there is still a soil of slurry state which has just little bearing resistance. This kind of characteristics makes it difficult to get a exact bearing capacity using the equations proposed until now. In this study we have performed simultaneously both the field loading tests and the cone penetration tests on the sea dredging ground. From the result of field tests, new experimental equation for the ultimate bearing capacity has been proposed. If we use the new equation, it is believed that some design of sea dredging ground could be more accurate.
Data from 122 pumping tests were obtained from 100 boreholes in granites, volcanic rocks, metamorphic rocks, and Cretaceous and Tertiary sedimentary rocks, and then were analyzed using AQTESOLV. Results from 86 of the 122 tests ($71\%$) have an analytical solution corresponding to Theis (1935), Cooper-Jacob (1946), Papadopulos-Cooper (1967), Hantush (1962), Moench (1985), or Hantush-Jacob (1955), whereas the remaining 36 results ($29.5\%$) do not correspond to any of the analytical methods. Of the 86 results, only 17 match the Theis and Cooper-Jacob methods, indicating that the basic methods fer pumping test analysis are useful far only $14\%$ of the total data. This suggests that analytical solutions derived using leaky boundary conditions are appropriate for the analysis of pumping test data in fractured aquifers in this study. Furthermore, the results show the importance of carefully selecting an appropriate model for the analysis of pumping test data. Results from the 122 pumping tests were also analyzed using the GRF model. Using the Barker method, the results show that 77 of the 122 tests ($63\%$) have dimensions ranging between 1.1-2.9. Of these 77 solutions, ($39(44.2{\%})$) have a fractional dimension of 1.1-1.9, ($26(6.5{\%})$) show 2-dimensional radial flow also applicable to the Theis method, and ($38(49.3{\%})$) have dimensions of 2.1-2.9. The results show that groundwater flows according to a fractional flow dimension in fractured aquifers.
This study aimed at simulating several responses to stresses caused by the ground water level variations around the K-1 oil stockpile. For this simulation, we considered the characteristic hydrogeological condition including the special occurrence of long and thick acidic dyke, which is regarded as the main geological structure dominating the ground water flow system at this study area. We activated twenty-four imaginary wells which are located in northern and southern area around central K-1 site. Each neighboring distance is altogether 300 m and whole distance between K-1 site and remote wells is 1,200 m. Through the modeling, we operated the long-term and continuous pumping tests and finally categorized five zones based on maximum pumping rates for the imaginary wells; zone I within 300 meter distance from K-1 site with a pumping rate of 50 $m^3/day$; zone II between 300 to 600 meter distance from K-1 site with a pumping rate of 75 $m^3/day$; zone III between 600 to 900 meter distance from K-1 site with 150 $m^3/day$; zone IV between 900 to 1,200 meter distance from K-1 site with 300 $m^3/day$; and zone V of acidic dyke area. At zone V, especially because of their possibility of high transmissivity for groundwater flow, it is necessary to control and restrict groundwater discharge.
Convergent flow tracer test for 2 m (IW-1 well) and 5 m (IW-2 well) of test scale was conducted at the alluvial aquifer with high permeability and storativity. Pumping rate for convergent flow tracer test were $2,500m^3/day$, and the chloride tracer of 5 kg was instantaneously injected into IW-1 and IW-2 wells. Differences of first arrival time and peak concentration were analyzed by using the concentration breakthrough curves of chloride. Recovered chloride mass were analyzed by recovered cumulative mass curves. And, increment and decrement for chloride concentration were analyzed through chloride concentration versus recovered cumulative mass ratio graphs. Also, increment and decrement ratios of chloride concentration were estimated through linear regression analyses for increment and decrement intervals of chloride concentration. Longitudinal dispersivities were estimated by quot;Converging Radial Flow With Instantaneous Injectionquot; method using CATTI code. Longitudinal dispersivities estimated by CATTI code were 0.4152 m between pumping well and IW-1 well, and 3.2665 m between pumping well and IW-2 well. Longitudinal dispersivity was increased according to far distance from the pumping well. The longitudinal dispersivity according to distance were estimated as 0.21 between pumping well and IW-1 well, and 0.65 between pumping well and IW-2 well.

GWW was developed by UN(United Nations) in order to manage groundwater data systematically on PC windows. Temporal and spatial data from lab and field tests are stored in a data base. The data base can be displayed graphically by using the GIS (Geographic Information System) technique. Raw data from pumping tests, step-drawdown tests, and chemical analyses can be analysed to characterize the hydrogeologic system. This article demonstrates a GWW application using default database and groundwater data obtained at the Nanjido Landfill site.
This study aimed to determine the extent of artificial aquifer recharge and to evaluate appropriate recharge techniques based on field investigations and comparative analysis of each recharge method. Characteristics of the aquifer determine the target aquifer and the recharge method for artificial groundwater recharge. Electrical conductivity surveys, drilling, permeability tests, and grain-size analysis indicate that the hydraulic conductivity of weathered soil and weathered rock is higher than that of upper unconsolidated soil. Pumping tests indicate that the groundwater level was stable at a depth of 12 m until 9 hours of pumping, but after that it dropped again, indicating anisotropic aquifer characteristics. Three types of artificial recharge method were reviewed, including recharge wells, ditches, and ponds, and a combination of two methods is proposed: a recharge well system directly injecting into weathered soil and rock sections with good permeability, and an injection ditch that can increase the recharge effect by line-type injection in the upstream area. The extent of groundwater recharge by the selected methods will be evaluated through on-site tests and if their applicability is verified, they will contribute to securing water in areas of water shortage.
It is sometimes necessary to change the location of the collection conduit, which is constructed in shallow sediments in a stream, if the concentrations of $Fe^{2+}$ and $Mn^{2+}$ become too high for water treatment. A total of nine wells, including four shallow wells with a depth of 3 m and five deeper wells with a depth of 6 m, were installed in the study area at Naeseong-cheon in Yecheon-gun. The change in hydrogeochemical features of groundwater and the concentrations of $Fe^{2+}$ and $Mn^{2+}$ were examined at the wells during 5 hours of pumping. As pumping was performed, the velocity of groundwater flow was increased around the pumping well and aeration conditions were developed to precipitate iron and manganese oxides in an oxidizing environment. In addition, the concentrations of $Ca^{2+}$ and $Cl^-$ at the pumping well were increased following the mixing of surface water and groundwater. It is suggested that the center region of the stream would be more suitable for a new collection conduit, considering the concentrations of $Fe^{2+}$ and $Mn^{2+}$ in groundwater and their reducing effect during pumping. The installation of a collection conduit based on field tests performed to ensure water quality enables a reduction in the construction and management costs at water treatment facilities.
Artificial recharge technology is a method for solving problems such as groundwater level drop and ground subsidence caused by groundwater withdrawal. This study investigated the applicability of using the hydraulic conductivity of an aquifer to predict injection test results for aquifer restoration. Pumping and injection tests were performed under the same conditions as those for the artificial injection facility located in Icheon, Gyeonggi-do. The hydraulic conductivity of the aquifer, which plays a decisive role in restoring the groundwater level, was derived from the pumping test. A numerical model of a simplified on-site aquifer was constructed, and a transient analysis was applied with the same conditions as the pumping test. The correlation between the measured and the resulting model values is strong (R2 = 0.78). The injection test was performed in a sedimentary layer composed of silt sand and clay sand. From the results of the injection test, an empirical formula was derived using Theim's formula, which is a common well analysis solution to determine the parameters of the aquifer from time-level data. The model values from the empirical formula have a high degree of correlation (R2 = 0.99) with measured values. Under specific conditions, for areas where it is difficult to conduct an injection test, the formula from this study, which relies on the hydraulic conductivity of the aquifer determined through the pumping test, may be used to predict reliable injection rates for groundwater restoration.

Hydraulic property of fissured aquifers often depends on geologic structure which acts main channel of groundwater flow. We treated theories of linear flow related to vertical geologic structure. Then, we analyzed the result of two pumping tests conducted in Okmyeong-ri area (Kyeongbook province) using fractal model and found hydraulic characteristic of the fissured aquifer in this area. According to the pump test analyses, groundwater flow around the holes (pumping well D9; observation wells C3 and D7) of test 1 is linear. and is controlled by vertical geologic structure with infinite length and infinitesimally small width. On the other hand, around the hole D10 (pumping well) of test 2, groundwater flow is pseudo-radial (n=1.9) or radial (n=2). Thus, the characteristic of fractured aquifer often shows variable groundwater flow spatially and temporally.

Feasibility tests for the hydraulic fracturing were conducted in order to secure additional saline groundwater for irrigating to the land-based aquaculture farm. Two boreholes were placed to the aquaculture farm A and B, respectively. A hydraulic fracturing using single packer was applied to major fracture zones within two boreholes. To identify effects of hydraulic fracturing on securing additional saline groundwater, some selective methods including well logging methods, pumping tests, and groundwater quality analysis were commonly applied to the boreholes before and after the hydraulic fracturing. Enlarging/creating fracture zones, increasing water contents in bedrock near boreholes, and increasing transmissivity were observed after the hydraulic fracturing. Even though the hydraulic fracturing could be an alternative to secure additional saline groundwater to the land-based aquaculture farm, salinity of the groundwater did not meet optimal thresholds for each fingerling in two farms: Fresh submarine groundwater discharge flowed the more into borehole of the farm A that resulted in decreasing a salinity value. Increased saline groundwater quantity in the borehole of the farm B rarely affect to the salinity. Although salinity problem of groundwater limited its direct use for the farms, the mixing with seawater could be effectively used for the fingerlings during the early stage. A horizontal radial collector well placed in the alluvial layer could be an alternative for the farms as well.
