본 연구에서는 현재 국내 공공도서관 자료선정업무의 현황을 자료구입비 규모, 자료선정정책과 자료선정기준, 자료선정 담당 인력과 자료선정위원회, 자료선정방법과 자료선정도구 등의 카테고리로 나누어 살펴 본 다음 사서들의 자료선정업무에 대한 인식을 조사하였다. 이러한 현황을 바탕으로 효율적인 자료선정이 이루어질 수 있는 방안을 자료선정정책, 자료선정인력, 자료선정방법의 세 가지 측면으로 나누어 논의하였다. 자료선정업무현황 분석을 위한 데이터 수집은 국내 공립공공도서관 315개관을 대상으로 한 설문조사를 통하여 이루어졌다.

본 연구의 목적은 지리정보시스템(GIS)이 공공도서관 자료선정과 서비스개발에 갖는 의미를 마케팅적 시각에서 탐색해보고자 하는 데 있다. 지리정보시스템이란 지리적 정보를 수집하고, 조작해서 표현해낼 수 있는 컴퓨터시스템이다. 지리정보시스템을 통해, 공공도서관은 지역사회의 교통관련정보, 정치적, 법적, 인구 통계적, 경제적, 사회적, 문화적, 교육적 정보를 수집하는 것이 가능하다. 따라서 공공도서관은 지리정보시스템을 마케팅의 첫 단계인 시장조사 즉 이용자분석에 활용함으로써 이용자의 요구에 부합되는 자료선정과 서비스개발을 할 수 있을 것이다. 이는 또한 이용자와의 지속적 관계형성이라는 마케팅의 최종목적을 달성하는데도 도움이 될 것이다.

본 연구는 이용계수를 적용하여 국내 공공도서관의 소설장서를 평가하고 장서개발기능을 제고시키기 위한 다양한 방안을 제시하였다. 그 결과, 한국문학은 언어별 문학에서의 장서구성 및 이용대출 비중이 각각 62.6%와 54.3%로 가장 높았음에도 불구하고 이용계수(0.87)는 기준값(1.00)보다 낮았다. 또한 한국현대소설은 한국소설의 세목별 장서구성 및 이용대출에서의 비중이 각각 65.60%와 51.36%로 가장 높음에도 이용계수(0.78)는 기준값보다 낮았고 연도별 이용계수도 최근 연도에 근접할수록 감소하고 있다. 그 이유는 장서개발이 부실하기 때문이다. 그러므로 공공도서관은 장서개발정책 및 소설장서개발지침의 수립, 소설자료선정위원회의 구성, 소설자료개발 전담사서제 도입, 소설자료 선정도구의 개발과 활용, 소설장서의 주기적 평가와 같은 방안의 도입을 적극적으로 검토할 필요가 있다.

As information technologies are applied to the libraries in information society, the library services have been changing its feature. Therefore, the purpose of this paper is to explore and to establish a paradigm of the library services in information society. It is hypothesized that the application of information technologies leads to the change of the library services in information society. To prove the hypothesis, the data were collected from various research results carried out in the developed countries and by observing various libraries where the information technologies are extensively applied. The findings are as follows: 1. As information technologies are applied to the library, many new library services emerge for the society. 2. As the electronic data replace the paper data, the collection of a library becomes the collection of the libraries in the world. Therefore, the accessibility to the information network is more important than to own information in the library. Librarians select various electronic data according to the library policy which distinguishes their own library collection from others. The policy also solves the various problems related to weeding and preserving library collection. And the use of CD-ROM selection tools enable library users to select their own data. Now, the censorship becomes the concems of the library users, not the library. 3. The catalogs are reorganized for the electronic data for the international use. The most important information in the catalog is the location of the data and the multi access to the data are necessary. 4. As the information technologies are applied in book selection, cataloguing, information retreival and circulation, the library users are enable to service themselves in the library. And most of the routine works related to the information service are taken over by the library staffs. Professional librarians engage in user education, information marketing and fund raising. 5. Public libraries in information society serves those who have no access to the information. They help the illiterates. patients in the hospital, prisoners, and homeless in the city. Therefore, the information technologies enhance the role of librarians in professional work in the library as well as in the information society.

본 연구는 대구광역시 공공도서관을 대상으로 로그-회귀분석에 의한 경영성과를 평가하고 대안을 모색하였다. 투입예산에 대한 산출효과(생산성)를 분석한 결과, 기울기(b)의 누적값(${\Sigma}b_n$)은 약 3.732이므로 지역주민에 대한 정보봉사력은 매우 낮은 것으로 밝혀졌다. 이에 대한 대안으로 도서관 정체성의 재정립, 최적의 입지선정과 증설, 예산배정 및 장서구성의 개선, 적정 인력의 확보와 조직개편, 웹환경의 최적화, 이용자봉사의 강화를 제시하였다.

The purpose of this research was to study the merits and barriers to successful school and public library cooperation in the city of Seoul and to obtain perspective and the basic data used to implement practical cooperative measures. A questionnaire survey was conducted for 22 public libraries in city of Seoul concerning both positive and negative aspect of cooperation between two types of libraries. Based on the survey results, the following conclusions and recommendations are made ; 1) The librarians recognized the necessity of cooperation that promote efficiency of library operation and also contribute toward local community development. 2) The librarians are agreeable to the cooperative service and the institutional cooperation will prevent redundancy of collection development and will make variety of book selection possible. 3) The cooperation will not result in manpower reduction or budget saving. 4) Inconvenience due to distance between two types of library is anticipated. 5) In order to develop the skills and capabilities of the librarians, it is desirable to offer reeducational program and o n.0, pportunities to attend conferences and meetings. 6) The library user orientation program is to be held regularly. 7) It is necessary to make policy statement of library cooperation in order to maintain autonomy of each library. 8) The establishment of branch libraries and moving libraries under the educational district is recommended.

본 연구는 공공도서관의 복지서비스정보 제공의 필요성을 논하고, 복지정보를 효율적으로 수집·선정·제공하는 방안을 모색하는데 그 목적이 있다. 연구 수행을 위해 문헌조사, 사례조사, 설문조사, 인터뷰를 실시하였다. 연구 참여자의 86.7%는 공공도서관의 복지정보 제공이 필요하다고 하였다. 복지정보는 그 생산주체에 따라 크게 네 가지 유형으로 나눌 수 있다. 복지정보 수집·선정은 네 가지 정보 유형에 따라 달리한다. 복지정보는 그 유형 및 도서관의 종류에 따라 정보의 구성 요소를 달리해서 제공한다. 도서관 홈페이지를 통해 복지정보를 제공하고, 이 경우 복지정보를 웹페이지 형태와 게시판을 이용하여 홈페이지에 올린다.

아동문학은 유아에서 초등학생에 이르는 아이들의 지능 및 정서 발달에 중요한 영향을 끼치는 매체이다. 아동문학에 대한 관심은 국내 그림책들의 해외 아동도서상 수상, 아동도서의 교육적 가치에 대한 조명 등으로 높아져 왔다. 그 관심은 국내 아동도서 시장의 양적 증대를 불러왔으나 반대급부로 다양한 도서 사이에서 양질의 아동도서를 선택하는 것은 어려워졌다. 이러한 환경에서 아동문학상은 수상작에게 권위 있는 선택근거를 제공함으로써 아동도서를 읽고자 하는 사람들에게 쉽게 양질의 도서를 선택할 수 있는 길잡이가 된다. 국민의 정보 접근권을 보장하는 도서관은 이러한 흐름에 발맞추어 수상작에 대한 현황을 확인하고 새로이 장서개발정책에 반영해야 한다. 본 연구는 공공도서관의 아동도서 장서개발 정책에 대한 방향을 제시하고자 서울시내 10개 공공 도서관을 선정하여 아동문학상 수상작 장서의 소장현황, 대출현황, 장서회전율, Bonn의 이용계수, Trueswell의 80/20법칙을 적용하여 양적, 질적으로 분석하였으며 분석 결과를 바탕으로 향후 도서관의 장서개발 정책에 반영해야 할 사안을 제시하였다.

본 연구의 목적은 공공도서관에서 수행하는 비디오자료의 선정 및 수집과 실제 이용현황을 조사하여 그 결과를 분석하여 앞으로 공공도서관 자료로서의 비디오자료의 체계적인 수집과 이용을 활성화하는 방안을 마련하고자 한 것이다. 이를 위하여 부산지역의 공공도서관 17개판(교육부 산하 12개관, 행정자치부 산하 5개관)을 대상으로 설문지기법을 사용하여 비디오자료의 수집과 이용현황을 조사하였다. 그 결과를 분석하여 문제점을 확인하고 그에 따른 개선 및 활성화 방안을 제시하였다.

본 연구는 국내 대학도서관의 공동보존서고 설립 및 운영을 위한 기초 자료로서, 미국의 대표적인 공동보존서고 ReCAP(Research Collections and Preservation Consortium)의 운영 사례를 통해 국내 적용 가능한 공동보존서고 설립 및 운영 방안을 제시하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 ReCAP 공동보존서고 및 참여기관인 콜럼비아대학교 도서관, 프린스턴대학교 도서관, 뉴욕공공도서관, 하버드대학교 도서관을 방문 조사하였고, ReCAP 업무 담당 전문가를 대상으로 심층인터뷰를 실시하였다. 분석 결과, 공동보존서고는 보존시설에 대한 공유에서 공유 장서(shared collection)와 공유 이용(shared use)으로 확대 발전된 것으로 나타났다. 하지만 장기적인 공동관리를 위한 시스템 구축 및 초기 예상보다 빠른 보존공간의 한계에 따른 이관자료지침수립 및 공동장서개발 정책 수립 등의 필요성이 제기되었다.
