This paper presents the evaluation of LPG (Liquefied petroleum gas) regulators for home use. For the evaluation, several properties of the regulators were experimentally analyzed, such as the operation of safety device, the adjusting and lock-up pressure, the adjusting spring and the diaphragm, with respect to the used time of the regulators. Experimental results showed that the initial operation performances of regulators were degraded with increase of the service time and also showed that the degradation of the performance and material property could become serious after about six-year-use of the regulators.

This paper presents a summary of the immersion ultrasonic test to analyze the quality of diffusion bonding parts. The most important property of diffusion bonding parts is bonding strength, and that can be obtained by shear test. By comparing among data obtained by ultrasonic test(C-Scan) and those by shear test (bonding strength), these data are shown to be in good relation. Therefore ultrasonic C-Scan test result can be used successfully in quantitative quality control for diffusion bonded parts.

Let (A, M) ⊂ (B, N) be commutative quasi-local rings. We consider the property that there exists a ring D such that A ⊆ D ⊂ B and the extension D ⊂ B is inert. Examples show that the number of such D may be any non-negative integer or infinite. The existence of such D does not imply M ⊆ N. Suppose henceforth that M ⊆ N. If the field extension A/M ⊆ B/N is algebraic, the existence of such D does not imply that B is integral over A (except when B has Krull dimension 0). If A/M ⊆ B/N is a minimal field extension, there exists a unique such D, necessarily given by D = A + N (but it need not be the case that N = MB). The converse fails, even if M = N and B/M is a finite field.

Because of most current cadastral systems maintain 2D geometric descriptions of parcels linked to administrative records, the system may not reflect current tendency to use space above and under the surface. The land has been used in multi-levels, e.g. constructions of multi-used complex buildings, subways and infrastructure above/under the ground. This cadastre situation of multilevel use of lands cannot be defined as cadastre objects (2D parcel-based) in the cadastre systems. This trend has requested a new system in which right to land is clearly and indisputably recorded because a right of ownership on a parcel relates to a space in 3D, not any more relates to 2D surface area. Therefore, this article proposes a 3D spatial data model to represent geometrical and topological data of 3D (property) situation on multilevel uses of lands in 3D cadastre systems, and a conceptual 3D cadastral model in Korea to design a conceptual schema for a 3D cadastre. Lastly, this paper presents the results of an experimental implementation of the 3D Cadastre to perform topological analyses based on 3D Network Data Model to identify spatial neighbors.

One of the most important problems in the development of AC PDP is to make long life and more stable panels. It is well known that the life time of a panel strongly depends on the sputtering-resistant property of the protecting layer such as MgO. However, the sputtering rate is so low that it is very difficult to measure the sputtering-resistant property of MgO. This paper describes a high speed measurement technique to test the sputtering-resistant property of MgO thin film by the R.F. magnetron sputtering. In this case the MgO sample has been used as a target of sputtering process. Moreover, the MgO surface changed by ion-bombarding sputtering are also discussed with SEM photoes.

This paper demonstrates details of thermal behavior of Langmuir-Blodgett (LB) film of poly(tert-butyl methacrylate) (PtBMA) by using the principal component analysis based two-dimensional correlation spectroscopy (PCA2D) through eigenvalue manipulating transformation (EMT). By uniformly lowering the power of a set of eigenvalues associated with the original data, the smaller eigenvalues becomes more prominent and the subtle contribution from minor components is now highlighted much more strongly than the original data. Thus, the subtle difference of thermal behavior of LB film of PtBMA from minor components, which is not readily detectable in the conventional 2D correlation analysis, is much more noticeable than the original data. PCA2D correlation spectra with EMT operation for the temperature-dependent IR spectra of LB film of PtBMA reveal the hidden property of phase transition processes during heating.

Commercializing universities' R&D outputs is a major management challenge and there are limited studies to describe this phenomenon from the perspective of companies' management. Experiences of six small and medium size and four large companies' management's respondents are gathered through semi-structured face-toface interviews. Twelve critical success factors revealed by the respondents, namely R&D product and market readiness, good partnership with university, researcher's motivationand commitment, availability of resources, government support and motivation, control and ownership of intellectual property rights, university's management support, entrepreneurial culture in the university, an open communication and trusting relationship, researchers' skills, a risk taking attitude, and existence of performance measures as important to commercialize the universities' R&D outputs in Malaysia. The different views from the management of small and medium size, and large companies are also discussed in this study.

Terfenol-D is one of magnetostrictive materials which have the property of converting the energy in magnetic fields into mechanical movement and vice versa. We designed and fabricated a linear magnetostrictive actuator using Terfenol-D. It has 25mm diameter and 100mm long. To grasp the characteristics of it, a series of tests were performed in the range of 50㎐ below. Induced-strain actuation displacements of the actuator measured by test and predicted by magnetic analysis agreed well. (omitted)

A band stop filter is proposed with cascading unit cells that are based on a dual composite right/left-handed (D-CRLH) conductorbacked coplanar waveguide. The parameters of the unit cell have been analyzed to confirm the behavior of each component for the equivalent circuit of the cell. We simulated the dispersion characteristics and energy distribution and have determined that the unit cell has a D-CRLH property. The band stop filter was implemented by symmetrically cascading two of the proposed unit cells. The experimental results for the band stop filter revealed a band rejection performance of 32 dB and a return loss of 0.35 dB in the stopband frequency range from 869MHz to 954MHz. Finally, we show that there is a good agreement in the experimental results and those obtained through the simulations.

Details are given of an study of the characteristics of field-induced electron emission from hydrogen-free high $sp^3$ content(>90%) amorphous diamond (a-D) film deposited on heavily doped ($\rho$<0.01 $\Omega\cdot\textrm{cm}$) n-type monocrystalline Si(111) substrate. It is demonstrated that a-D film has excellent electron field emission properties. Emission current can reach 0.9 $\mu$A at applied field as low as 1 V/$\mu\textrm{m}$, and emission current density can be obtained about several mA/$\textrm{cm}^2$. The emission current is stable when the beginning current is at 50 $\mu$A within 72 hours. Uniform fluorescence display of electron emission from whole face of the a-D film under the electric field of 10~20 V/$\mu\textrm{m}$ was also observed. It can be considered that the contribution of excellent electron emission property results from its smooth, uniform, amorphous surface and high $sp^3$ content of the a-D films.
