형상 분석에 의한 안경렌즈의 비구면 계수 추출 방법 (A method to extract the aspherical surface equation from the unknown ophthalmic lens)

  • The ophthalmic lens manufacturing processes need to extract the aspherical surface equation from the unknown surface since its real profile can be adjusted by the process variables to make the ideal curve without the optical aberration. This paper presents a procedure to get the aspherical surface equation of an aspherical ophthalmic lens. Aspherical form generally consists of the Schulz formula to describe its profile. Therefore, the base curvature, conic constant, and high-order polynomial coefficient should be set to the original design equation. To find an estimated aspherical profile, firstly lens profile is measured by a contact profiler, which has a sub-micrometer measurement resolution. A mathematical tool is based on the minimization of the error function to get the estimated aspherical surface equation from the scanned aspherical profile. Error minimization step uses the Nelder-Mead simplex (direct search) method. The result of the refractive power measurement is compared with the curvature distribution on the estimated aspherical surface equation

  • Single crystalline silicon (SCS) was adopted for a reliable micromirror array of biochip fabrication applications. SCS has excellent mechanical properties and smooth surface, which is the best material for micromirror devices. The mirror array has $16{\times}16$ micromirrors and each mirror has a $120{\mu}m{\times}100{\mu}m$ reflective surface. The micromirror has simple torsional beam springs and electrostatic force was used for driving. The designed tilting angle was $9.6^{\circ}$, and the tilting angles were measured according to applied voltages. The surface roughness was measured by a laser profiler. The response time was measured using He-Ne laser and position sensitive diode (PSD), and the lifetime was checked for reliability proof.

  • The pilot tidal current power plant is to be constructed at the Uldolmok between Chindo and Haenam, during next year, and extensive coastal engineering research works have been carried out. In this paper we describes some observation results of the tide and tidal current, as well as modeling work in order to investigate the tide and tidal current regime change In relation to the tidal current power plant [TCPP] construction. The special modeling skill in order to consider the turbine operation in the TCPP is developed and applied to the estimation for the flow regime change by the simple layout of the tidal current power plant.

  • 한국 남해안 거제도 앞바다에 투하된 인공용승구조물에 대한 유통 변화를 파악하기 위해 ADCP(Acoustic Doppler Current Profiler)를 선박에 장착하여 정선관측을 실시하였다. 관측결과 구조물 투하전과 후의 유통비교를 보면 구조물 주변역에서 표층에서부터 수심 $30\sim40m$까지의 충과 그 이심까지의 흐름이 다르게 나타났다. 또한 구조물 주변역에서 연직유동성분의 흐름이 구조물 투하 전에는 하강류의 분포가 많이 나타났으나 구조물 투하 후에는 상승류의 성분이 많이 나타남을 알 수 있었다.

  • In this paper, the effects of the drive-in process parameters on the residual stress profile of the p+ silicon film has been investigated. All the residual stress profile has been estimated by the second-order polynomial. All the coefficients of the polynomial have been determined from the measurement of the deflections of cantilevers and a rotating beam by using a surface profiler meter and by means of focusing a calibrated microscope. As the drive-in temperature or the drive-in time increases, the boron concentration decreases and the magnitude of the average residual stress decreases. If the boron concentration decreases the tensile residual stress decreases except near the surface where the magnitude of compressive residual stress increases.

Polarity of freestanding GaN grown by hydride vapor phase epitaxy

  • The freestanding GaN substrates were grown by hydride vapor phase epitaxy (HVPE) on (0001) sapphire substrate and prepared by using laser induced lift-off. After a mechanical polishing on both Ga and N-surfaces of GaN films with 100$\mu\textrm{m}$ thick, their polarities have been investigated by using chemical etching in phosphoric acid solution, 3 dimensional surface profiler and Auger electron spectroscopy (AES). The composition of the GaN film measured by AES indicted that Ga and N terminated surfaces have the different N/Ga peak ratio of 0.74 and 0.97, respectively. Ga-face and N-face of GaN revealed quite different chemical properties: the polar surfaces corresponding to (0001) plane are resistant to a phosphoric acid etching whereas N-polar surfaces corresponding to(0001) are chemically active.

  • Confocal scanning microscopy (CSM) is an important instrument in a wide variety of imaging applications because of its ability to provide three-dimensional images of thick, volume specimens. The mechanism for two-dimensional beam scanning and optical sectioning has an important roe in CSM as the three-dimensional profiler. This optical sectioning property arises from the use of a point detector, which serves to attenuate the signals from out-of-focus. The intensity profile for the open loop scanning should be matched with its response for the standard. The non-linearity can be minimized with the optical sectioning or the optical probe of the closed loop control. This paper shows the mathematical expression of the light such as the extinction curve in the optical fields of system using AO deflector, the axial/lateral response experimentally when the error sources change, and the methods of optical sectioning.   • This study shows the change of the structural characteristic of AIN thin film deposition with the change of the deposition conditions such as Ar/$N_2$ gas ratio, operating pressure in chamber, and the distance between substrate and target in RF Magnetron Sputtering. The orientation and surface roughness of AIN thin film are studied by using XRD and AFM and the thickness is measured by using STYLUS PROFILER. While we can not identify the orientation of the thin film deposited in Ar only, we can obtain the (100) orientation of the thin film with the addition of $N_2$ to Ar. Especially the thin film deposited at 10% of Ar/$N_2$ gas ratio appears to be the most (100) oriented. The (100) orientation of thin film becomes weaker as the operating pressure becomes higher. The further distance between substrate and target is stronger the (100) orientation of the thin film is. The (100) orientation becomes weaker and (002) orientation starts to appear as the distance is shorter.

Field measurements of wind characteristics over hilly terrain within surface layer

  • This paper investigates the topographic effects on wind characteristics over hilly terrain, based on wind data recorded at a number of meteorological stations in or near complex terrain. The multiply data sources allow a more detailed investigation of the flow field than is normally possible. Vertical profiles of mean and turbulent wind components from a Sodar profiler were presented and then modeled as functions of height and wind speed. The correlations between longitudinal and vertical wind components were discussed. The phenomena of flow separation and generation of vortices were observed. The distance-dependence of the topographic effects on gust factors was revealed subsequently. Furthermore, the canyon effect was identified and discussed based on the observations of wind at a saddle point between two mountain peaks. This study aims to further understanding of the characteristics of surface wind over rugged terrain. The presented results are expected to be useful for structural design, prevention of pollutant dispersion, and validation of CFD (computational fluid dynamics) models or techniques over complex terrains.

  • This study has been focused on properties of mirror surface grinding technology by ELID(Electrolytic In-process Dressing) for structural ceramics using in high precision structural parts as like semi-conductor manufacturing processes. The experimental studies have been carried out to get mirror surface for grinding of structural ceramics, SiC, $Al_2O_3$ and AlN. Grinding process of the ceramics is carried out with varying mesh type, depth of cut and feed rate using diamond wheel. The machining result of the surface roughness and condition of ground surface, have been analyzed by use of surface roughness tester, SEM, AFM and three dimensional surface profiler measurement system.
