A professional soldier has varus instability in the first metatarsophalangeal joint due to hyperextension. In the MR Imaging, weavy appearance in lateral collateral ligament and high signal change in plantar plate was shown. So he has surgical treatment using reconstructive procedure. At first, $4^{th}$ extensor digitorum longus tendon was splitted longitudinally and harvested, second triangular shape reconstruction on lateral joint line was done using harvested tendon. One year later, fifteen degrees was limited compared with intact side. Reconstruction using $4^{th}$ extensor digitorum longus tendon in traumatic dynamic hallux varus was good method.

  • The military of the Republic of Korea has had the world's strongest combat powers through systematic training and has been preparing for future wars with advanced arms. As the arms have been developed for the future, the medicine also has made so much progress that the average life expectancy has increased about 30-40years compared to the past. Even though different problems about professional soldiers who have relatively lower retirement age, have come the surface, there seems to be no particular measures for them. Although they try to apply their ability and experiences obtained by the life in the military to the social life, they feel a great sense of loss when they realize that there is not many thing to apply. The job as a professional soldier has been everything for them, but the time to be discharged has come. However, this is the second act of their life, and also they have much longer social life than that in the military. Strong determination is needed to prepare wisely and rigorously for that and then to live a happy life as a member of society.

  • As studies on welfare systems for military families were only focused and limited on improvements of welfare facilities and military apartments, or psycho-therapies for families living apart, the supporting policies and efforts on creating jobs for military families(spouses) were insufficient till now. The best welfare for military spouses is the active well-being through the provision of employment opportunities, rather than providing certain rewards. Especially, South Korea should boost national competitiveness through increasing the engagement rate of women's economic activities. To expand these kinds of employment chances, actual plans to overcome the factors that restrict job opportunities for the families living apart, moving frequently, or living in rural areas should be urged. Accordingly, there should be a change of recognition toward military welfare service, enactment of applying discharged soldier's expanded employment programs for military spouses, cooperation with municipal governments and relevant institutions for creating jobs, and provision of promising job openings in association with a military reform. To achieve these, the cooperation of the government agencies, municipal governments, and military units are being emphasized.

In addition, general matters of military official, matters concerning soldiers entering the Green Camp, matters concerning the use of the Green Camp, and matters related to the consultation of soldiers in their relevant units were analyzed through technical statistics. On March 17, 2019, the Department of Defense identified 6,118 98.4% of the 6,214 maladjusted soldiers with active duty failed to complete military service and discharged, among them, 66% or 4,014 reportedly experienced maladjustment. Therefore, it is necessary to earlier identify soldiers who are discharged due to maladjustment, to apply various methods such as education and career guide by civil expert, to conduct timely education through civil professional hospital so that they can complete their military service normally.

  • The purposes of this study were to investigate the effects of professional soldiers' family healthiness on the organizational effectiveness of the military and test for any differences in the structural modeling path caused by the mediating effects of empowerment depending on whether they lived with their families or not. Data were collected with a self-administered survey distributed to 480 professional soldiers after the approval of the Ministry of National Defense. The data collected were then analyzed using descriptive statistics, structural equation modeling, and multi-group analysis. The analysis results show that the family healthiness of all of the professional soldiers had direct or indirect effects on their organizational effectiveness via empowerment and that family healthiness was a variable with a very large explanatory power for organizational effectiveness. Both family healthiness and empowerment had effects on the organizational effectiveness of the solders that were living with their families and those who lived separately from their families. The levels of family healthiness, empowerment, and organizational effectiveness were all high among the professional soldiers that were living with their families and all low among those who were not. Increasing the family healthiness and empowerment was found to enhance the organizational effectiveness in all of the models, and a higher organizational effectiveness would be expected from professional soldiers living with their families. These findings led to a proposal that various plans should be prepared to help professional soldiers live with their families and provide them with family welfare support.

  • As a method of providing lifelong educational opportunities to working professionals, some legal provisions allowing for the establishment and management of an entrusted education system linked with college and corporation was duly approved in 1994. According to the recent trend in the military organization, to provide higher educational opportunities to noncommissioned officers and warrant officers with the purpose of inspiring their spirit and improving military capabilities has been much increased. Professional soldiers such as noncommissioned officers and warrant officers have a lot of problems to continue their attendance at school because of regular military maneuvers, constant alert status and long-term outdoor military training. Even more serious problem is that the current curriculums and some departments in college are not concurrent with the present job specifications and the military specialties of the individual soldier as well. The purpose of this paper is, therefore, to introduce a newly revised educational model that provides more viable academic courses and curriculums to military professionals along with a proposal for the establishment and management of long distance educational system within barracks, utilizing the latest information and telecommunication technology.

  • In this paper, we propose the effects of military cardiopulmonary resuscitation(CPR) on the quality of debriefing and feedback device training. The key idea of combination debriefing and feedback device training is to maximize effects of CPR. The participants of the research were non-medic soldiers in ROK army, and had not undergone any professional CPR training before. Each group of soldier was randomized to perform of military CPR by using training method in each group. After 5 minutes of performing CPR, each D, F, DF group showed significant improvement in CPR performance. When comparing each group, the rate of success in CPR performance in DF group was significantly higher than that of F group with the average difference of 11.160(p<.01) points. In summation, the training programs that DF received seemed to be more efficient and effective than that of D and F. The fatigue level was evaluated by comparing the lactate concentration in blood after performing CPR. Through this experiment, we show that the training programs that DF received is more efficient and effective than that of D and F.

  • This study attempted to identify the ethical principles of nurses who realized care in the war field with a nurse's unique professional spirit, and to explore a more specialized and subdivided concept of ethical nursing in the future. War has occurred frequently in history, and the outcome has always been tragic. There are always different opinions about what it means to discuss the ethics of these wars. Despite these controversies, the ethics of nursing, which always takes care of the sick at the scene of war, is interpreted regardless of war. The ethical spirit of nursing is to respect life and take care of those who need help. Whether the person asking for help is a soldier or a civilian, it doesn't matter where it is or what the purpose of the war is. Nursing practiced nursing based on the principle of bioethics for all, even in war scenes where there was no ethical reference point. This study explains that it is necessary to inherit the spirit of nursing, which practiced ethical care even in such cruel scenes of the past, and to protect the ethical fundamental spirit of nursing even in the changing environment in the future society.

  • This paper analyzes which of the military sub-fields has an effect on a soldier's evaluation of South and North Korean military power. There are three objectives of this paper. First, it is to analyze whether the South is superior to the North in the overall military power and military sub -fields, without the presence of the US armed forces in South Korea. Second, it is to assess which of the military sub-fields influences the overall evaluation of military power through a regression analysis. Finally, it is to look at whether the professional soldiers have a motivational bias, due to an argument that the military personnel tend to exaggerate the inferiority of their own military power to get more budget for defense construction. Research in 2002 and 2003 tell us that South Korean military power is slightly inferior to North Korea's. However, research in 2005 shows that military power of South and North Korea is almost equal. The sub-fields in which South Korea is superior are in the order of War Sustainability, Information Warfare, Air Force, and Navy. North Korea is regarded to be superior in the fields of Atomic Biological Chemical Warfare Capability, Special Force, Reserve Mobilization, and Army. The higher ranked soldiers tend to evaluate that the North is superior to the South.
