Background: Dental treatment has shifted to the center of the community, and the public policy of the country has expanded to support the vulnerable classes such as the disabled. The dental profession needs education regarding oral health services for persons with disabilities, and it is necessary to derive the competencies for this. Therefore, we conducted this study to derive the normative ability to understand the role of a dental hygienist in the oral health service for persons with disabilities and improvement plans for education. Methods: We conducted a qualitative analysis for deriving competencies by analyzing the data collected through in-depth interviews with experts in order to obtain abilities through practical experience. Based on the competency criterion, relevant competency in the interview response was derived using the priori method, and it was confirmed whether the derived ability matched the ability determined by the respondent. Results: The professional conduct competencies of dental hygienists, devised by the Korean Association of Dental Hygiene, consists of professional behavior, ethical decision-making, self-assessment skills, lifelong learning, and accumulated evidence. Also, core competencies of the American Dental Education Association competencies for dental hygienist classification such as ethics, responsibility for professional actions, and critical thinking skills were used as the criterion. The dental hygienist's abilities needed for oral health care for people with disabilities, especially in the detailed abilities to fulfill these social needs, were clarified. Conclusion: To activate oral health care for people with disabilities, it is necessary for dental hygienists to fulfill their appropriate roles, and for this purpose, competency-based curriculum restructuring is indispensable. A social safety net for improving the oral health of people with disabilities can be secured by improving the required skills-based education system of dental hygienists and strengthening the related infrastructure.

The purpose of this study is to investigate the characteristics of the K Teachers' Community, which brought about changes in the perception of SSI education by teachers with experience in SSI, and to explore its relevance to the development of SSI professions. This is a case study that describes in depth the characteristics of the K teachers' community. The study conducted semi-structured as well as in-depth interviews with six teachers who have more experience in SSI education activities for over 20 years. The K teachers' community has three characteristics. First, the K teachers' community formed identity by discussing the nature of science and technology, which allowed teachers to share a common orientation toward the goals of science education. Second, the teachers who participated in the K teachers' community formed professionalism and confidence in SSI teaching in the course of producing, sharing, and spreading SSI through its various practices. Third, the K teachers' community is continuously growing by opening themselves to external communities and co-evolution through solidarity. The success of K Teachers' Community may inform other teachers how the community of teaching practices can develop and maintain, and in turn can help the members of the community develop their professional identity as teachers.

This study compared the structures and changes of help network between pre-service secondary teachers and pre-journalists who participated in the class related to network analysis to seek ways to activate a professional learning community. For this study, we used Exponential Random Graph Models (ERGM) based on ties as being interdependent and not conventional regression models requiring assumptions of independence between observations. The analysis subjects were 43 pre-service secondary teachers and 29 pre-journalists who responded both early and late in the help network survey. The main results were as follows. First, full models with network structural terms were better than simple models with no structural terms. Second, the effect of transitivity was not statistically significant in the pre-service secondary teachers' network. However, it was statistically significant in the pre-journalists' network. Third, there were effects of reciprocity, indegree popularity, and outdegree activity in the early help network of pre-service secondary teachers. On the contrary, there were only the positive effects of reciprocity and the negative effect of outdegree activity in the late network. Finally, this study demonstrated the possibility in educational fields' application of network structural effects and provided limitations and directions for future research.
This study presents the process and outcomes of developing mathematical-informatics linkage·convergence class materials, based on previous research findings that indicate a lack of such materials in high schools despite the increasing need for development of interdisciplinary linkage·convergence class materials In particular, this research provides insights into the discussions of six teachers who participated in the same professional learning community program, aiming to create materials that are suitable for linkage·convergence class materials and highly practical for classroom implementation. Following the material development process, a theme-based design model was applied to create the materials. In alignment with prior research and consensus among teacher learning community members, mathematics and informatics teachers developed instructional materials that can be utilized together during a 100-minute block lesson. The developed materials utilize societal issue contexts to establish links between the two subjects, enabling students to engage in problem-solving through mathematical modeling and coding. To increase the validity and practicality of the developed resources during their field application, CVR verification was conducted involving field teachers. Incorporating the results of the CVR verification, the finalized instructional materials were presented in the form of a teaching guide. Furthermore, we aimed to provide insights into the trial-and-error experiences and deliberations of the developers throughout the material development process, with the intention of offering valuable information that can serve as a foundation for conducting related research by field researchers. These research findings hold value as empirical evidence that can explore the applicability of teaching material development models in fields. The accumulation of such materials is expected to facilitate a cyclical relationship between theoretical teaching models and practical classroom applications.

The aims of this study are to identify the perceptions and learning needs related to nursing profession of nursing students and to provide the basic data for development of curriculum. The questionnaire used for this study includes 103 items categorized as the fellowing 8 areas : the perception of nursing profession, competency as a nurse, the perception about clients, priorities in nursing activity, the knowledge required for, an ideology about nursing. Data was collected from the same students through their first grade in 1993 to third grade in 1995. The results are as follows : 1) In terms of the views on nursing profession, most of the students responded it as helping treatment of disease. Higher the grade, more significant with regard to health counseling, utilization of nursing and skills, nursing for community people. 2) Asked about competency as a nurse, sufficient professional knowledge on the nursing was responded as the highest. 3) Asked about the clients of nursing, 'patients' was the highest and as the grade was high, the items on 'family', 'community people', 'community' were high. 4) With regard to the points to be considered in the performance of nursing, while 'physical respect', 'psychological respect' were commonly responded, 'spiritual respect' highly responded in the second and third grades. 5) Asked about what nursing activity is, 'to relieve the pain' was high in the first and second grades, 'the promotion of health' was high in the third grade. 6) With regard to the ideology on nursing, the humanity and belief and faith were commonly responded. These results suggest, even though the expanded role of nursing was recognized, there is the tendency of illness oriented, to be need of reinforcement on the curriculum management in nursing education.

The premise of the study is that teacher communities or teacher interest groups are one of the representative examples of Communities of Practice (CoP) formed by teachers who engage in the process of collective learning regarding science teaching. Based on the theory of CoP, we investigated and interpreted the process of identity development of six science teachers who have been actively involved in teacher communities. We conducted 2-3 individual interviews with the teachers in order to explore their narratives and personal experiences of being involved in the communities over the years. Results indicated that a teacher community is a place where the teachers not only generated and shared repertories of ideas, documents on teaching and learning, or routines (i.e. practices), but also formulated a set of relationships through social participation. Teacher communities actively provide the teachers a sense of joint enterprise and identity, and where the teachers have an opportunity to develop themselves personally and professionally as science teachers playing major roles in their communities.
The purpose of this research is to investigate ways to improve science teacher education in order to subsequently develop students' key competencies. Since the OECD redefined key competencies as 'what people should know and be able to do in order to lead a successful life in a well-functioning society, many countries have emphasized competency-based curriculum. In this research, we collected and analyzed foreign and domestic classroom cases that have implemented competency-based curriculum in science teaching. Through open-ended interviews with the teachers and principals we explored ways to improve science teacher education to develop students' key competencies. According to the results, the competency-based curriculum necessitates a shift in teachers' roles including teachers as role models for their students, multifaceted roles of teachers, and teachers as researchers. In light of the teacher's community, teachers need to form a professional learning community, increase practice-based professional development opportunities, build the teacher's knowledge base, put various experts into the classroom, and build a partnership with the local community and other experts. In the conclusion section, we also discussed institutional and political supports necessary for the competency based education.
In this paper, the proposing a fundamental data for a systematic and effective organizational management by examining the extent of the levels of conflict perceiving among individuals of social welfare workers in the Busan community social welfare center, a social welfare organizations, and investigating the related influencing factors are the purpose of the study, The summary of this study is as follows. At first, it is dysfunctional when the level of conflict is either exceedingly high or low in the interrelational conflict aspect. However, the social welfare workers' working in the community social welfare center, the extent of individual conflict is relatively low as 2.37 out of 5 points. Secondly, the multi-regression analysis is operated for controlling the population sociological factors and measuring the effectiveness of the conflict factors to the level of conflict. The influencing factors affects the result in the order of greater extent are communication factor, leader's flexibility of leadership factor, spontaneity among personality, confidentiality. As a result, Not like the case that in the technological bureaucratic organizations such as the enterprises or industrial organizations, in the human service organizations including social welfare organizations, these technological bureaucratic paradigm does not applying directly since the material of organization is composed of humans who are given moral values. Therefore, this paradigm should be put as a presupposition of the conflict management strategy. And, the communication among colleagues, learning a reasonable problem solution method, or the chances of education or training for establishing a sound human relationship should be prepared in order to lower the level of the conflict among individuals in the community social welfare department. Furthermore, professional education programs are needed for not only supporting an effective supervision and consultation(consultation with superiors and colleagues), but also, working with confidentiality and pride as a professional.
Research on lexicon and language provides insights into the interests, values and practices of a community where individuals use the language. The International Classroom Lexicon Project, in which ten countries participated, identified own country's mathematics teaching and learning lexicons by investigating mathematics classroom instruction from teachers' perspectives in a speaking-oriented community. This study, as an extension of the International Classroom Lexicon Project research, investigated pedagogical lexicons used in 「Mathematics and Education」 journals specialized for Korean professional mathematics teachers published by the Korean Society of Teachers of Mathematics. Using the text mining approach, we also traced how these pedegogical lexicons have changed quantitatively over the past 10 years with a diachronic perspective. As a results, several novel terms were found in the writing-oriented community, which were not identified in the speaking-oriented community. In addition, we could discover some pedagogical lexicons have increased statistically significantly and some lexicons appeared(increased) rapidly across years. This implies the teacher community's values and zeitgeist by reflecting these changes in the sociocultural, incidental and social changing (i.e., periodical change) contexts. This study has value as a first step in understanding zeitgeist for mathematics education in Korean mathematics teacher community according to changes of times over the past 10 years. Also, this study contributes to the methodological insights: the text mining technique provides a methodological contribution to researching changes in interests, values and zeitgeist according to these changes in the times.

Teachers play a key role in designing a students' learning experience. Teachers are asked to interpret the context in which they are located and to adjust their practice to fit circumstantial needs based on their teacher agency. In this study, we explore the emergence of teacher agency in distance learning caused by COVID-19 and we analyze factors shaping the teacher agency. For this purpose, we interviewed six secondary science teachers who practiced distance learning in 2020. Semi-constructed interviews and their artifacts were collected and analyzed. This study shows that teacher agency is captured when they respond to circumstantial change and modify their practice to achieve their professional purpose or adjust their practice in space for maneuvering or keep their practice consistent. This study also analyzes the factors that affect the emergence of teacher agency in two dimensions. One is individual and the other is contextual. In the individual dimension, educational values shaped by his/her experiences and short/long-term goals for the future support the emergence of teacher agency. In the contextual dimension, there are collaborative and flexible culture shared by the community, co-operation within the teacher community, and material support. On the other hand, in the individual dimension, the teachers' sense of their role, and no reflection for own practice constrain the emergence of teacher agency, and in the contextual dimension, performativity discourse and strong requirement without guidance constrain the emergence of teacher agency. We suggest an effective lens for establishing a strategy that support teachers' professional practice and the emergence of teacher agency.
