This study aims to investigate the relationship between human resource competency, economic potential, and productivity of village-based enterprises, as well as understand the role of governance in mediating this relationship. This study was conducted in several village-based enterprises in Bali, Indonesia and the data were collected using questionnaires. Furthermore, the collected data were analyzed quantitatively using partial least analysis to confirm the relationship between variables. The findings indicate that human resource competency has an impact on governance, but it failed to explain the productivity of village-based enterprises. In addition, economic potential can have an impact on the governance and productivity of village-based enterprises in Bali, Indonesia. This study also showed a robust link between governance and productivity. Lastly, based on the statistical analysis, it was found that governance can mediate the relationship between human resource competency, economic potential, and productivity of village-based enterprises.

Improving productivity in industries is a very critical issue, and improving labor productivity is especially important in construction industry, which is a labor-intensive industry. However, researches on labor productivity in construction industry are insufficient, and most of previous studies have limitations in terms of specificity and logic. In this study, fuzzy DEMATEL method was used to structural analyze of influence factors for labor productivity in construction industry based on previous researches and expert survey. The result of this study contributes to deriving priorities for improving labor productivity.
This study aims to identify the causal relationship among public technology transfer, technological performance, and research and development (R&D) productivity. Using the impulse-response function(IRF) of a panel vector autoregressive model (panel VAR), this study suggests the results of how long the factors such as technological performance (patent), public technology transfer, and R&D productivity takes and lasts if a one-unit shock of standard deviation occurs. As a result, first, the increase of public technology transfer activities has no power to increase the technology performance but improve the R&D productivity. If the public institute increases its technology transfer activities by one unit, the R&D productivity will increase within five years. Second, the impact of increasing technological performance on improvement of public technology transfer and R&D productivity is an insignificant. Third, the effect of R&D productivity on the public technology transfer creates a substantial reaction after a current time. Considering the structural relationships among public technology transfer, technological performance, and R&D productivity, if policy makers intend to construct the active R&D circumstance, technology suppliers should be motivated to run the active R&D mechanism because they achieve gains.
This study has analyzed the efficiency of 10 leading global shipping companies listed in the New York Stock Exchange from2010 to 2014 in order to find the changes of the productivity of shipping industry. The paper observed the Malmquist Productivity Index by using Efficiency and Productivity Analysis System Version 1.0. The data used in this study is the Guggenheim Shipping ETF mainly including the companies of shipping, management, and shipbuilding areas. The results from this statistical analysis indicate that the 10 selected companies have experienced a severely negative growth in 2010. Nevertheless, these companies have accomplished a significant growth of productivity. In particular, the energy transport companies operating Tanker and LNG ships carried out remarkable growth. The reason why the productivity of liner shipping companies did not show the improvement of productivity for five years was attributed to the fact that the P3(Project 3) or M2(Maersk-MSC) including Maersk, MSC, and CMA-CGM were excluded in this research because of the difficulty of attaining reliable source data. The method of this study could be extended to Korean shipping corporations and other global airlines to investigate a changes of certain industries.

In this paper, a survey related to excavation construction activities among national and international construction companies was conducted to evaluate site productivity in construction industry. To analyze the respective productivity levels of each construction company, a benchmarking measures analysis that featured calculations of the performance ratio (PR) and performance management index (PMI) was performed. As a result of these analyses, it has been found that the work performed by local companies was marked by lower productivity and that of international companies was characterized by good productivity. Further analysis of construction workforce resources P% revealed that a construction company's productivity is largely dependent on production capacity and consumption resources, which means that the retention of skilled workers and utilization of high-quality resources yields the highest level of productivity. These results suggest that for a local construction company to be competitive in the construction work market, it must retrain skilled craftspeople, foremen, engineers, and project managers, and strengthen its building capability by leveraging new equipment and technologies.
A prerequisite for making R&D more productive is to able to measure its productivity. Most of the previous studies on this topic have attempted to measure R&D productivity at the firm or industry levels. In this study, however, R&D productivity is measured at the national level to provide R&D policy implications, particularly for Asian countries. Contrary to the previous studies where total factor productivity was adopted, this study employs the data envelopment analysis (DEA) approach to measure R&D productivity. DEA is a multi-factor productivity analysis model for measuring the relative efficiency of each Decision Making Unit (DMU). In addition to the basic DEA model that includes all inputs and outputs, five additional models are constructed by combining single input with all outputs and single output with all inputs in order to measure specialized R&D efficiency. In this study, the twenty-seven countries are classified into four clusters based on the output-specialized R&D efficiency: inventors, merchandisers, academicians, and duds. Then, the characteristics of the Asian countries with respect to R&D efficiency are identified. It is found that Singapore ranks high in total efficiency, and Japan in patent-oriented efficiency. Meanwhile, China, Korea, and Taiwan are found to be relatively inefficient in R&D. We expect that the findings from this study will be able to provide directions for R&D policy-making of the Asian countries.
The problem of productivity improvement is one of the most challenging problems facing the world economy. This paper studies an analysis of improving personal-computer(PC) company productivity through factory automation. It attempts to analyze value added productivity at the company level. The index measured will effectively help managers supervise their companys. This study justifies that the proposed approach will stimulate manager's profit-motivation by providing them with value-oriented management instead of quantity-oriented method.
This paper analyzes the impact of the recent change in global value chain on the productivity of manufacturing sectors and firms in Chungnam area using ADB MRIO. Forward participation significantly increases sector productivity in Chungnam area and backward participation affects the sector productivity after 2015. In the analysis for firm productivity in Chungnam area, GVC participation does not enhance the productivity of firms in Chungnam area. However, firms in the top 25% of productivity in 2007 improved their productivity with higher GVC participation and the productivity of firms in the top 25% of asset in 2007 was positively affected by forward pariticipation and negatively affected by backward participation. The productivity of firms that were in international market in 2007 was significantly worsened by GVC participation.

This paper aims to propose a new systematic approach to analyze the factor productivity and to investigate those characteristics of factor productivity in operational and managerial perspectives. The Cobb-Douglas production function is adopted to estimate the labor and capital productivity. In estimating those productivities the data of The Research on the Actual Condition of Coastal Fisheries (RACF), especially those of Jeon-Nam Province are used. The statistical analysis of RACF data shows that the characteristics are a little bit different between labor and capital of the operational equipment in the coastal fisheries. The Cobb-Douglas type production function is useful in estimating the factor productivity, especially in case of 'coastal Stow-net fishery' even though the limited data is used. However, in case of 'trap fishery,' the Cobb-Douglas production function appears to have some limitations in estimation. This implies that estimating the factor productivities in fisheries employing broad perspectives and various methods are needed.
The purpose of this study is to estimate change of productivity of information and technology industry and to induce policy implications. The method of analysis is panel data analysis based on 11 Korean information and technology industry cross-section and 8 years time series. The result of estimate shows that producitivity of labor and capital and information and technology industry is positive, total factor productivity of information and technology industry is also positive. but total factor productivity decreased after 2008. In addition, the productivity of labor was increased, but the productivity of capital input was decreased. It means that the productivity of Korean information and technology industry was not improved despite increasing of labor and capital investment.
