조직 성숙도 수준과 성과 향상을 위한 소프트웨어 프로세스 개선의 성공 요인 (The Antecedents of Software Process Improvement for Organizational Capability Maturity and Performance)

  • SPI (Software Process Improvement) activities have been considered one of the crucial approaches to achieve high quality, productivity and timely delivery of software products and services. The basic premise of SPI model is that higher maturity levels lead to better performance. In this research, the relationships between SPI results and performance were empirically investigated with Korean software companies. CMM key process areas were categorized into two dimensions, "Process Implementation" and "Quantitative Management". The relationship between process implementation and performance was significant, but the relationship between quantitative management and performance was insignificant. The control variable, size of OU(Organizational Unit), did not have significant impact on the relationships between SPI activities and OU performance.

  • 국내 소프트웨어 테스트 성숙도 수준은 TMMi 기준으로 대부분 레벨 2 이하다. 성숙도 개선의 첫째 조건은 현재 성숙도 수준을 정확히 아는데 있다. TMMi에는 레벨 1 정의가 없지만, 같은 레벨 1 조직이라도 성숙도 수준은 분명 차이가 있다. 이에 본 연구는 레벨 1 조직의 성숙도 수준을 정확히 파악하고, 레벨 1 조직이 개선 노력을 줄이면서 레벨 2를 달성하는 방안을 제시한다. 레벨 2에서 의존성이 있는 서브 프랙티스를 해당 프로세스 영역과 그룹화해서 레벨 1을 3단계로 새롭게 정의했다. 의존성을 이용한 이유는 의존성 있는 프랙티스 끼리 묶어 프로세스를 개선하면 프랙티스 여러 개를 한꺼번에 달성하는 효과를 얻을 수 있기 때문이다. 3단계화 적정성을 검증해서 레벨 1 조직의 성숙도 수준을 정확히 평가했고, 다음 단계 개선 목표와 방향을 구체적으로 설정할 수 있음을 알았다.

기업의 핵심역량이 IT 아웃소싱 성과에 직접적인 관련이 있을 것인가? (Does the Understanding of Core Competencies Matter to IT Outsourcing Performance?)

  • IT outsourcing providers has been expanded from a single functional system to the entire IT service to gain sustainable competitiveness. This new trend of IT outsourcing need outsourcing management capability based on a firm's core capacity. Hiring external IT service providers to manage part or all of its information-related services helps a firm focus on its core business and provides better services to its clients, thus obtaining sustainable competitive advantage. This research investigates the major factors that determine the level of a particular firm's success at IT outsourcing. Based on process innovation and core-competency theories, we identify three significant components of a firm's IT outsourcing management method (ITOMM): level of core-competency-based management, maturity of outsourced tasks, and maturity of outsourcing management. Comprehensive data collection was conducted through an outsourcing association. The survey data were analyzed using a structural analysis method. Maturity of outsourced tasks and maturity of outsourcing management were found to affect project performance directly, while level of core-competency-based management only indirectly impacted project performance through its positive impact on the other two ITOMM components.

  • Effective monitoring and testing during each step are essential for document verification in research and development (R&D) projects. In software development, proper testing is required to verify it carefully and constantly because of the invisibility features of software. However, not enough studies on test processes for R&D projects have been done. Thus, in this paper, we introduce a Test Maturity Model integration (TMMi)-based software field R&D test process that offers five integrity levels and makes the process compatible for different types of projects. The Software & Systems Process Engineering Metamodel (SPEM) is used widely in the software process-modeling context, but it lacks built-in enactment capabilities, so there is no tool or process engine that enables one to execute the process models described in SPEM. Business Process Model and Notation (BPMN)-based workflow engines can be a solution for process execution, but process models described in SPEM need to be converted to BPMN models. Thus, we propose an approach to support enactment of SPEM-based process models by converting them into business processes. We show the effectiveness of our approach through converting software R&D test processes specified in SPEM in a case study.

  • Many previous studies of data quality have focused on the realization and evaluation of both data value quality and data service quality. These studies revealed that poor data value quality and poor data service quality were caused by poor data structure. In this study we focus on metadata management, namely, data structure quality and introduce the data quality management maturity model as a preferred maturity model. We empirically show that data quality improves as data management matures.

지능형 성숙도 모델을 이용한 소프트웨어 집약 시스템의 전투실험 프로세스 설계 및 적용 (Design and Application of the Warfighting Experiment Process Using the Intelligent Maturity Model in Software Intensive Systems)

  • 본 논문에서는 지능형 성숙도 모델을 이용한 소프트웨어 집약 시스템의 전투실험 프로세스 설계를 제안하고 스마트 무인항공기의 표적탐색 능력에 적용한 결과를 제시한다. 이를 위해 먼저 소프트웨어 집약 시스템의 지능형 정도를 평가할 수 있는 지능형 성숙도 모델을 영역 수준 및 지능 수준을 고려하여 설계한다. 그런 다음 전투실험 프로세스 설계를 위해 ISO/IEC-12207과 CMMI 프로세스를 LITO 분야별로 분류하고 이를 전투실험 5요소와 매핑하여 전투실험 요소별 그리고 전투실험 단계별로 프로세스를 도출한다. 도출된 프로세스를 기반으로 IDEF0 표기법을 이용하여 전투실험 프로세스를 설계한다. 마지막으로 제안한 전투실험 프로세스는 스마트 무인항공기(UAV)를 개발하거나 획득 시에 요구되는 표적탐색 능력에 적용하며 그 결과도 제시한다.

  • 국방 분야의 소프트웨어는 해당 도메인의 특성상 높은 수준의 품질을 요한다. 이를 보장하기 위해서는 잘 정의된 프로세스를 기반으로 하는 개발 및 시험 활동들이 이루어져야 한다. 소프트웨어 획득 과정에서 이들 활동들이 뒷받침되지 못하면 획득된 소프트웨어의 품질이 낮고, 군의 전투력이 저하된다. 본 논문에서는 시험 프로세스 개선을 통해 국방 소프트웨어의 품질을 향상하기 위한 국방 시험 성숙도 모델(MND-TMM: Ministry of National Defense-Testing Maturity Model)을 제안하고 설계된 내용을 소개한다. MND-TMM은 국방 도메인에서 시험과 관련된 문제점을 해결하기 위해 국방 소프트웨어, 국방 소프트웨어 개발 프로세스, 국방 소프트웨어 시험 프로세스를 반영하여 구성되었다. MND-TMM은 5개의 수준의 성숙도와 4개의 범주로 구성되며 각 범주에는 관련 시험 프로세스 영역(TPA: Testing Process Area)들이 포함된다. MND-TMM은 국방 소프트웨어 조직의 시험 성숙도를 평가하는 것을 돕고 소프트웨어 테스팅 프로세스를 개선하기 위한 가이드라인을 제공할 것으로 기대된다.

A Study on Correlation between the CMMI SPs and GPs at Maturity Levels 2 and 3

  • Assuming that the Capability Maturity Model Integration for Development v1.2 (CMMI) could be applied to an organization more effectively if the content similarities among practices were improved in terms of structure and composition, this paper presents the analysis of the correlations between the CMMI Specific Practices (SP) and Generic Practices (GP) for the Maturity Level 2 and 3 Process Areas using the Chi-square independence test. According to the analysis, a 22.2% correlation was observed. To minimize the problem of repeatedly applying similarities, 6 GPs that are highly correlated with the SPs were grouped together. Then, three different improvement plans: 1) development of a standard template-based project plan, 2) establishment of a configuration management system based on open source software to control work products and leverage experience, and 3) establishment of project assurance through an independent quality assurance-based organization and intensive review by higher-level management - were defined.

조직성과에 미치는 SPI 영향요인에 관한 연구 :조직 성숙도의 조절효과 관점에서 (The SPI Factors Affecting on Organizational Performance: The Prespective of the Moderating Effect of Organizational Maturity Level)

  • Software Process Improvement(SPI) has been a challenging issue to software organizations. The factors affecting SPI were analysed for improving software development processes. Numerous studies suggested influencing factors, and assessment models were utilized for software improvement. This research suggested that SPI factors affecting on an organizational performance may vary according to the CMM(Capability Maturity Model) level. The moderating effects of organizational maturity level between the SPI factors and the organizational performance were empirically tested. This research found that all six SPI factors except for the resistance to change affected the organizational performance. The moderating effects of management support, goal alliances, participation, and effect analyses were empirically supported. These results can provide several implications or a practical guidance to academic and industry professionals.

SLA의 수행 단계별 성숙도가 SLA 성과에 미치는 영향에 관한 연구 (A Study of SLA's Maturity Level on Performance)

  • IT outsourcing becomes one of the important shills for managing diverse and complex information systems, SIA is considered as an one of the success factors for the successful outsourcing management. Since it helps to establish common goal and provides better visibility of trends and performance, the SLA process must go beyond mere measurement to include a methodology for the ongoing management of service levels, and for the continuous improvement of service activities, functions and processes. Despite SLA is one of the most important skills for the successful outsourcing, few studies have been conducted for academic as well as practical purpose. For this reason, The objective of this study is to develop an SLA's maturity model and empirically demonstrate how SLA's maturity level affects its Performance through SLA's maturity model. The major contributions of this study are in two areas. This study contributes to academicians as well as practitioners. First, from the academic perspectives this study tries investigating the maturity level of the SLA based on empirical data. Second, practitioners can self-test their firms' maturity level using the proposed model. The results of this study show that the SLA's maturity level affected positively SLA's performance. It is founded that the SLA's maturity level had a significant impact on SLA's performance.
