An Analysis and Test for Leakage Flow of Sealless Cylinder (고성능 씰리스 실린더의 해석 및 누설유량 시험)

  • The cylinder without seal has a piston with air bearing which is partly cylindrical and conical shape. The description of system geometry is deviation by the flow rate equation. Then pressure distribution and bearing force equations are derived. Several non-dimensional parameters are suggested. The relationship among bearing force, leakage flow and geometry of the bearing is investigated by simulation. And determination method for optimal design of sealless cylinder is given. A prototype of sealless cylinder which had rod bearing with four pockets, five pockets, and six pockets was built respectively. As a result of leakage flow test, it is evaluation to air bearing in sealless cylinder.

  • This paper presents a highly efficient HDD (Hard Disk Drive) spindle motor with a passive magnetic thrust bearing and a fluid dynamic journal bearing and its effectiveness is verified through experiment. It eliminates the mechanical friction loss of a thrust bearing which is around 18% of total power consumption of a 3.5' HDD spindle motor, by replacing a conventional fluid dynamic thrust bearing with a passive magnetic thrust bearing. The passive magnetic thrust bearing using permanent magnets is inherently unstable in radial direction. However, the radial fluid dynamic force of the fluid dynamic journal bearing counterbalances the radial magnetic force of magnetic thrust bearing to achieve the stability as the motor spins up. It has less or equivalent runout and less flying height than the conventional spindle motor.

  • In this paper, linearized dynamic characteristics of parallel line pivoted pad thrust bearing(hereinafter refer to PLP thrust bearing) was analyzed by perturbation method with inlet pressure. Inlet pressure and excitation frequency irfluence dynamic characteristics of PLP thrust bearing at all operating condition, such as angular pivot position, mass of pad. Therefore, the characteristics is have to analyzed with inlet pressure, excitation frequency, mass of pad and thickness of pad. Otherwise, the analysis is able to estimate the characteristics over or under.

  • A large concentrated load is often transferred to reinforced concrete footing in a tall building. In this study, a foundation system which used high strength precast concrete bearing plate was proposed. This concrete bearing plate has to be strong enough to resist the column load. However, a sufficient bearing strength may not be provided if the column load is too high and the concrete of bearing plate does not have enough strength.

  • SFRC(Steel Fiber Reinforced Concrete) has advantage of crack resistance and ductility failure behavior. But the study which investigated about effect of steel fiber under bearing stress is not to be enough, and it does not be sure of criterion of SFRC for allowable bearing stress formula in internal specification. The purpose of this study is to clear the influence of SFRC on the bearing capacity and ductility of material through static loading test. additionally, arrive an allowable bearing stress formula for SFRC and examine mechanical behaviro by the 3-D finite element analysis.

  • For the purpose of monitoring by ultrasonic test of the ball bearing conditions in rotating machinery, a system for their diagnosis was developed. ultrasonic technique is used to detect abnormal conditions in the bearing system. And various data such as frequency spectrum, energy and amplitude of ultrasonic signals, and ultrasonic parameters were acquired during experiments with the simulated ball bearing system. Based on the above results and practical application for power plant, algorithms and judgement criteria for diagnosis system was established.

  • This article describes (1) 2 and 3 dimensional electromagnetic finite element models for an active heteropolar radial magnetic bearing, (2) the procedure for obtaining the bearing stiffnesses by simulating the models and (3) the reviews of the models by comparing an experimental test to the ideal closed loop analysis with the stiffnesses calculated from (2). The 3 dimensional model for the magnetic bearing may be very effectively applied to several types of magnetic bearings.

  • This paper analyzes file stiffness, damping coefficient, friction force and flow coefficient of externally pressurized oil journal beating, including the effect of journal rotation according to the Sommerfeld number. This paper assumed that the oil in the whole pocket has constant pressure, and that the oil in the whole bearing region has constant viscosity, temperature and density. Reynolds equation is derived from Nuvier - Stokes equation and continuity equation. And solved bearing pressure by ADI method for whole bearing region and fitted with out flow rate of pocket region. The model for numerical simulation is hydro - static oil journal bearing for high-speed, high-accuracy lathe spindle.
