리더의 피드백은 종업원의 창의적 문제해결 행동을 촉진시키는가? 종업원의 피드백 수용정도와 직무 복잡성의 3차항 상호작용효과 (When and How does Leader Feedback Promote Employee Creative Problem-solving Behavior? A Three-way Interaction Model of Employee Feedback Acceptance and Task Complexity)

  • Purpose: This paper investigates the effects of leader feedback on employee creative problem-solving behavior. It also explores the relevant conditions that maximize the above relationship from the psychological trait and task nature perspectives. Specifically we examine how employee feedback acceptance and task complexity moderate the relationship between leader's feedback behavior on follower creative problem-solving behavior. Finally the three-way interaction among leader's feedback behavior, employee feedback acceptance and task complexity is analyzed for the best conditions to maximize the positive effect of leader's feedback on creative problem solving behavior. Methods: This paper used a cross-sectional design with questionnaires administered to 411 employees working in Korean manufacturing and service firms. It applied a hierarchical regression analysis to test the hypothesized relationships including three-way interaction effect among leader's feedback behavior, follower feedback acceptance and task complexity on follower creative problem-solving behavior. Results: The empirical results of the paper indicated that the leader feedback behavior had enhanced employee creative problem-solving behavior. It was also found that follower feedback acceptance and task complexity positively moderated the relationship between leader's feedback and follower problem solving behavior. In addition, the test of three-way interaction effects also revealed that the higher the levels of both employee feedback acceptance and task complexity, the greater the positive effect of leader feedback behavior on employee creative problem solving behavior. Conclusion: This paper contributes to the leadership and creativity literatures by identifying the role of leader's behavior enhancing employee creative problem-solving behavior and the specific conditions strengthening the positive effect of leader feedback behavior on employee creative problem-solving behavior.

과제의 친숙성 및 정답제시가 유아의 문제해결능력에 미치는 영향 (The Influence of Children's Familiarity with a Task and Teachers' Feedback on their Problem Solving Performances)

  • The purpose of the study is to examine the influence of children's familiarity with a task and teachers' feedback on their problem solving performances. It was assumed that children's' problem solving performance would be different depending on the children's familiarity with a task and the feedback from teachers. The study also examined whether children's' problem solving competence would be different depending on their gender and age. The experiment was conducted with two experimental tools. The subjects were 58 children who were 5 to 6-year-old, enrolled in kindergartens in Koyang city in Kyunggi province. The collected data were processed with SPSS 11.0 program to get the average and the standard deviations, and with one-way ANOVA and two-way ANOVA with repeated measures. The results of the experiment are as follows; First, children's' problem solving competence was different depending on their age. Older children showed higher performance than younger children, while there's no difference in children's performance depending on their gender. Second, the teachers' feedback didn't influence children's problem solving performance. Third, children showed higher performance when familiar tasks were provided, compared to when typical tasks were provided. Finally, this study found that children's task familiarity has an influence on their problem solving performance.

공과대학 캡스톤 디자인의 학습성과에 대한 자기조절학습전략의 매개효과 검증 (An Examination of the Mediation Effect of Self-Regulated Learning Strategy on Learning Outcome in Engineering Capstone Design Course)

  • This study aimed to identify the causal relationships among self-regulated learning strategy, problem solving efficacy, task value and learning outcome, and mediation effect of self-regulated learning strategy in engineering capstone design course. The data were collected from 363 university students who enrolled in capstone design courses and analyzed using structural equation modeling method. The results were: first, problem-solving efficacy and task value exerted significant effects on self-regulated learning strategy. Second, self-regulated learning strategy exerted significant effects on learning outcome, but problem-solving efficacy and task value did not. Third, problem-solving efficacy and task value showed significant indirect effects on learning outcome, which confirmed that self-regulated learning strategy fully mediated between two exogenous variables and learning outcome.

  • In this paper we describe Task-Based Problem Solving Adapters (TPSAs) for modeling a humam solution (through activity-centered analysis) to a software solution (in form of computer-based artifact). TPSAs are derived from the problem solving pattern or consistent problem solving structures/strategies employed by practitioners while designing solutions to complex problems. The adapters developed by us lead toward human-centeredness in their design and underpinning that help us to address the pragmatic task constraints through a range of technologies like neural networks, fuzzy logic, and genetic algorithms. We also outline an example of applying the TPSAs to develop a working system for assisting sales engineers of an electrical manufacturing firm in preparing indent and monitoring the status of orders in the company.

  • Task allocation is a key problem in multiagent systems. The importance of automated negotiation protocols for solving the task allocation problem is increasing as a consequence of increased multi-agent applications. In this paper, we introduce the multiagent Traveling Salesman Problem(TSP) as an example of task reallocation problem, and suggest Vickery auction as an inter-agent coordination mechanism for solving this problem. In order to apply this market-based coordination mechanism into multiagent TSPs, we define the profit of each agent, the ultimate goal of negotiation, cities to be traded out through auctions, the bidding strategy, and the order of auctions.   • Despite extensive research on various factors affecting the effectiveness of decision support systems (DSS), considerable ambiguity still exists regarding the role and influence of the experience on the given task and the decision support system. Although researchers have advocated DSS effectiveness as a multi-dimensional construct, specific results regarding the effect of the familiarity in the task and the DSS on the problem-solving time is still lacking. The study reported here attempts to find the effect of the peculiarity of the problem-solving process on the problem-solving time. The results of the study highlight that the expertise in both the task and the DSS have made the shortage of the problem-solving time. However, more research about the generalized performance measure on the DSS is required.

  • 본 연구는 PBL 환경에서 과제참여 수준에 대한 몰입의 영향을 문제해결력이 매개하는지 탐색하기 위해서 수행되었다. 본 연구의 대상은 교육방법 및 교육공학 수강하는 예비유아교사 60명의 학생들을 대상으로 하였다. 연구를 위해서 몰입, 문제해결력, 과제참여 수준을 설문을 통해서 자료를 수집하였다. 수집된 자료는 SPSS Macro 및 부트스트래핑(bootstrapping)방법을 사용하여 과제참여 수준에 대한 몰입의 영향에 대해 문제해결력이 매개 효과를 분석하였다. 그 결과, 과제참여 수준에 대해 몰입의 영향이 정적인 것으로 나타났으며, 문제해결력이 .292 수준에서 간접효과가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 이는 과제참여 수준에 대한 몰입의 영향을 문제해결력이 매개하는 것으로 검증되었다. 이와 같은 연구결과를 통해서 PBL 활동에서 문제해결력 지원을 통해 과제참여 수준을 향상할 수 있는 시사점을 제시할 수 있다.

  • Purpose: This study was done to examine effects of task performance style, communication ability and their interaction on problem-solving ability and nursing competency of nursing students participating in a nursing management practicum. Methods: The study was a non-equivalent control group non-synchronized design. Participants were 56 fourth year nursing students (25 in the cooperative task group and 31 in the individual task group) and data were collected from March to September 2010. Additionally, two groups were classified based on communication ability of students and four groups were classified by their task performance style and communication ability. Problem-solving ability and nursing competency were measured pre- and post-test and compared between groups. Data were analyzed using SPSS Windows 17.0 program. Results: Neither problem-solving ability and nursing competency were statistically significantly different according to task performance style. Nursing competency was statistically significantly higher in the high communication group compared to the low communication group. Problem-solving ability was significantly different among the four groups classified by task performance style and communication ability. Conclusion: Nursing educators may need to improve students' communication ability to improve nursing competency and also assign different tasks based on communication ability of nursing students to improve problem-solving ability.

The Effects of Mental Capacity and Size of Chunk of Problem Solver and Mental Demand of Problem on Science Problem Solving

  • The development of cognitive psychology provides us a theoretical base from which we can obtain information about human problem solving. One purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of cognitive psychological factors on the problem solving of the two kinds of tasks (content free, content specific). And the other purpose was to find out the existence of critical situation in problem solving process. Even the items of tasks with the same logical structure and content knowledge could have different sizes of mental demand. The results were as follows. The mental demand of the problem, and the problem solver's mental capacity, might be the main factors in problem solving. Critical situation of both a group and an individual existed in the tasks that need content free knowledge (FIT 752 task). But the critical situation of a group was completely different from that of the individual in the tasks that need content specific knowledge (electric circuit task). According to the analysis of achievement for each individual in the task that need content specific knowledge, the critical situation of an individual existed in problem solving, but the critical situation of a group was not existed by were summed up the individual results.

임상 실습과제 방법에 따른 간호학생의 셀프리더십, 팀효능감, 문제해결과정 및 과제만족도 비교연구 (Comparative Study on Self-leadership, Team Efficacy, Problem Solving Process and Task Satisfaction of Nursing Students in Response to Clinical Training)

  • Purpose: This research compares self-leadership, team efficacy, problem solving processes and task satisfaction in response to teaching methods applied to nursing students, and determines whether variations exist. Method: This research experiments before and after the training of a nonequivalent group. The subjects were 36 learners of action learning methods and 39 learners of nursing course methods, and the research took place from October through December 2012. Results: Prior to the training, the general features and measurable variables of the two groups of subjects were similar, and self-leadership, team efficacy, problem solving process and task satisfaction in both groups were elevated compared to pre-training. In particular, in comparison with the nursing course, there was a notable difference in scores, the action learning method receiving high scores in the problem solving process (t=2.92, p=.005) and task satisfaction (t=2.54, p=.013) Conclusion: It is recommended that educators not only conduct the practice training course for teaching methods, but also incorporate action learning.
