  • These days the predictable problem of he housewives is the economic poverty if they don't provide for their old age themselves. The purpose of this study is to investigate some influencing factors related to the housewives' perceptions behaviors and counterplans for the old age. There were significnat differences on the preparatory behaviors for the old age according to the enviornmental variables and the buying styles and lifestyles. The receptions and the preparatory behaviors for the old age was shown a positive correlation r=4.2(p<0.01) The most influencial variables on the behaviors of the old age by the housewives were in the order of the behaviors of the old age by the housewives were in the order of the joining pensions the concerns of the counterplans for the old age the timing of the economic counterplans the lmpulsive buying style the pursuit of the information the energefic activity the perceptions of the elderly living the percetions of the elderly occupation and erceptions of the silver industry. The housewives of this study were in difficulties for the economic counterplans for the old age. The most difficult problems were their health and their economic situations.

  • It is a crucial managerial issue how to manage assembly blocks at shipyard. Based on the project experience in Hyundai Heavy Industries, this study points out the difficulties on the block stockyard operations, formalizes the JIBUN (location) assignment problem for assembly blocks, and develops the JIBUN (location) assignment algorithm whose purpose is to reduce the number of unproductive block moves. Through simulation experiments for various situations, this study demonstrates the usefulness of JIBUN (location) assignment algorithm. In addition, this study examines the impacts of block move sequence rules and of block stockyard layouts on the block stockyard operations.

  • Statistical process control techniques have been greatly implemented in industries for improving product quality and saving production costs. As a primary tool among these techniques, control charts are widely used to detect the occurrence of assignable causes. In most works on the control charts it considered the problem of monitoring the mean and variance, and the quality characteristic of interest is normally distributed. In some situations monitoring of the minimum and maximum values is more important and the quality characteristic of interest is the Weibull distribution rather than a normal distribution. In this paper, we consider the statistical design of minimum and maximum control charts when the distribution of the quality characteristic of interest is Weibull. The proposed minimum and maximum control charts are applied to the wind data. The results of the application show that the proposed method is more effective than traditional methods.

  • There are several methods, in the literature, for finding the fuzzy optimal solution of fully fuzzy transportation problems (transportation problems in which all the parameters are represented by fuzzy numbers). In this paper, the shortcomings of some existing methods are pointed out and to overcome these shortcomings, a new method (based on fuzzy linear programming formulation) is proposed to find the fuzzy optimal solution of unbalanced fuzzy transportation problems with a new representation of trapezoidal fuzzy numbers. The advantages of the proposed method over existing method are discussed. Also, it is shown that it is better to use the proposed representation of trapezoidal fuzzy numbers instead of existing representation of trapezoidal fuzzy numbers for finding the fuzzy optimal solution of fuzzy transportation problems. To illustrate the proposed method a fuzzy transportation problem (FTP) is solved by using the proposed method and the obtained results are discussed. The proposed method is easy to understand and to apply for finding the fuzzy optimal solution of fuzzy transportation problems occurring in real life situations.

  • In this paper, we address a problem for minimizing the number of items inspected in a back-light-unit (BLU) inspection system, which includes a K-stage inspection system, a source inspection shop, and a re-inspection shop. In order to formulate our objective, we make a steady-state flow analysis between nodes (or shops), and derive the steady-state amount of flows between nodes and defective rates by solving a nonlinear balance equation. We provide an enumeration method for determining an optimal value of K which minimizes the number of items inspected. Our methodology could be applied and extended to similar situations with slight modification.

  • Abnormal situation caused by aggressive behavior of pigs adversely affects the growth of pigs, and comes with an economic loss in intensive pigsties. Therefore, IT-based video surveillance system is needed to monitor the abnormal situations in pigsty continuously in order to minimize the economic demage. Recently, some advances have been made in pig monitoring; however, detecting each pig is still challenging problem. In this paper, we propose a new color image-based monitoring system for the detection of the individual pig using a fast region-based convolution neural network with consideration of detecting touching pigs in a crowed pigsty. The experimental results with the color images obtained from a pig farm located in Sejong city illustrate the efficiency of the proposed method.

  • This paper address the problem of tracking multiple objects encountered in many situations in developing condensation algorithms. The difficulty lies on the fact that the implementation of condensation algorithm is not easy for the general users. We propose an automatic code generation program for condensation algorithm using MATLAB tool. It will help for general user who is not familiar with condensation algorithm to apply easily for real system. The merit of this program is that a that a general industrial engineer can easily simulate the designed system and confirm the its performance on the fly.

  • The problem of the computation of derivatives arises in various applications of rational Bezier curves. These applications sometimes require the computation of derivative on numerous points. Therefore, many researches have dealt with the representation for the computation of derivatives with the small computation error. This paper compares the performances of the representations for the derivative of rational Bezier curves in the performances. The performance is measured as computation requirements at the pre-processing stage and at the computation stage based on the theoretical derivation of computational bound as well as the experimental verification. Based on this measurement, this paper discusses which representation is preferable in different situations.

  • Vomiting in pediatric patient is frequently encountered problem in emergency room or outpatient clinic. In differential diagnosis, age of the patient or accompanying symptoms should be considered in the differential diagnosis. Accurate diagnosis is very important because surgical treatment is necessary in some of the conditions. Imaging diagnosis of conservative modality such as upper gastrointestinal series or colon study is still important radiological examination in the initial differential diagnosis, but recently ultrasonography offers accurate diagnosis in many situations. The cause of vomiting in pediatric are diverse according to the age group :neonatal sepsis, necrotizing enterocolitis, or hypertrophic pyloric stenosis in neonates : gastroesophageal reflux, viral enteritis, or intussusception in infant: midgut volvulus, appendicitis, metabolic disorders, or increased intracranial pressure also an be the cause. knowledge of radiological findings of normal gastrointestinal tract is important to recognize abnormalities. A discussion of radiological findings in variable surgical conditions to present as vomiting in pediatric patients is offered.

  • When a ship is sailing on the sea, she has the six-degrees of freedom of motion. It means that she meets a lot of dangerous situations. Especially, when the VLCC is travelling in irregular sea, the slamming, the deck-wetness and the propeller racing are occured with the sea state she is on. These are the representative steps that a heave-to and a scudding are used for a ship building , but for a predominance in both. The author intends to clarify this problem theoretically. The methods of statistical calculation are based with the ITTC spectral formulation and with the assumption that the wave height histogram follows the Rayleigh distribution. In this study, the author gives an attention on the relative bow motion to a wave in the irregular sea. It is verified that the relative diplacement at the bow to sea level in the following sea is less than that in the head sea. It is confirmed that, therefore, one have to sail with scudding when he is threatened to heave-to at a rough sea. But he must bear the propeller racing in mind in the cases.
