Application of Opposition-based Differential Evolution Algorithm to Generation Expansion Planning Problem

  • Generation Expansion Planning (GEP) is one of the most important decision-making activities in electric utilities. Least-cost GEP is to determine the minimum-cost capacity addition plan (i.e., the type and number of candidate plants) that meets forecasted demand within a pre specified reliability criterion over a planning horizon. In this paper, Differential Evolution (DE), and Opposition-based Differential Evolution (ODE) algorithms have been applied to the GEP problem. The original GEP problem has been modified by incorporating Virtual Mapping Procedure (VMP). The GEP problem of a synthetic test systems for 6-year, 14-year and 24-year planning horizons having five types of candidate units have been considered. The results have been compared with Dynamic Programming (DP) method. The ODE performs well and converges faster than DE.

  • This study found that the use of the metaverse enabled two-way communication online, regardless of time and place, making it possible to achieve teaching and learning goals. As applied subject (Occupational ethics in science and engineering) that allow for curriculum activities using the metaverse, team activities, and Problem Based Learning (PBL) selected. This study selected the teaching method that combines team activities of in-class and metaverse depending on the team projects and applies them appropriately according to the class procedure. Basic theoretical content learning and team activities related to the class content were conducted during class time. Also In Gathertown, team projects were carried out through team activities. As a result, this study confirmed that the PBL-subjects curriculum are definitely possible through the progress of the metaverse activities. If the educational environment for metaverse activities and the instructor's preparation and participation are supported, a very high learning effect is expected.

  • MDMG(Multiple Decision-Making Group) problems comprise those of UDMG(Unit Decision-Making Group) which contradict each other. For the evaluation problem of port competitiveness, it has the complicated evaluation characteristics of multi-strata-complex and multi-attributes. Especially, it becomes typical MDMG problems in the evaluation which a great number of decision makers such as shipping companies, freight forwarders, logistics companies and researchers participate in This evaluation of complex problems needs the compensated process of weight which rationally unites heterogeneous preferences of each of groups. In this respect, the purpose of this study is to remove the uncertainty of the UDMG using the theory of DS (Dempster-Shafer) and present the integrated weight through the level process.

The Effects of Environmental Issue Analysis Instruction on Elementary School Students' Environmental Decision Making Ability (환경쟁점분석 수업이 초등학생의 환경의사결정 능력에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study is to find the influence of environmental issue analysis instruction on the environmental decision making ability for grade 5 elementary school students. The study was done through pre and post testing control group structure. The object of this study is grade 5 of I elementary school students which were divided into 35 student test group and 54 student control group. Through studying references, the selection standard of appropriate environment issue and the environmental issue analysis instructing objective. Conducted the environment issue instructing based on the selected environment issue and instructing objective. The classes were held in total of 6 sessions in the chapters related to class objective and class content within the curriculum. The pre and post testing was done using environment decision making ability test sheet which was reconstructed by myself and the results were analyzed by t-test. As a result of comparing pre and post testing the students in test group showed significant results in the processes of problem recognition, evaluation of alternatives, behave planing (p<.001). As a result of comparing the differences of environment decision making ability of pre and post test of test group and control group, it showed significant results in the process of evaluation of alternatives(p<.00l). The environment issue analysis class has positive influence on the environment decision making abilities of the students but since the outcome of environment decision making ability is lower, there is a need for long term environment education plan and further studies to find whether the environment issues within the textbook is appropriate in the elementary student level, useful school aspect and the influence of environment issue analysis class on the change of values for individuals.

The Influence of Self-Image and Pursued-Image of Clothes on the Clothing Purchase Decision Making According to the Residence (거주지 별 자기이미지와 의복 추구이미지가 의복구매 의사결정에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the role of consumers' self-image and pursued-image of clothes on the clothing purchase decision making according to the location. Data were obtained from a questionnaire filled out by 575 women living in Seoul and Jechon. For data comparative analysis, paired t-test, t-test, factor analysis and multiple regression analysis were used. The results of this study are as follows: 1. There were significant differences in self-image and pursued-image in terms of clothing purchases between women who live in Seoul and Jechon residents. 2. Demographic variables influenced to the self-image and pursued-image of clothes factor. Among them, size of the city was the most important factor which influence to the clothing purchase behavior. 3. Self-image, pursued-image of clothes, problem recognition and evaluative criteria factors significantly differed between Seoul and Jechon residents. In two cities, problem recognition factor which was arisen by external stimulus and all of the evaluative criteria factors showed significant differences. 4. When the cities were partitioned by size(large and small city), the influence of self-image and pursued-image of clothes on the clothing purchase behavior showed different phases. Generally, self image and pursued-image of clothes were more important to various problem recognition and evaluative criteria factors in large city(i.e. Seoul) than in small city(i.e. Jechon). However economic rational factor was the exception.

High-speed Rail Infrastructure Priority Decision Making on Level of Design Speed by Rail Network Design Problem (철도망 설계모형을 이용한 설계속도 수준별 고속철도망 투자우선순위 선정)

  • This paper introduced Railway Network Design Problem (RNDP) to provide priority decisions on high-speed railway investment scenarios defined by various network segments and train systems. The RNDP optimizes the objective functions of minimize total travel time. Results show that the priority of high-speed railway investment is found to be East-west, West-coast, and South-coast line respectively. An entirely new line built with 400km/h is found to be the best alternative to East-west line. Regarding West-coast and South-coast line, the combined alternative of upgrading Geolla and Kyeonjon line with 200km/h and building a new line with 400km/h and 350km/h for remains of each line is the best.

Development and Effects of the Project-Based Learning Instruction Module Using ICT in Elementary School Science Classroom (초등 과학과 ICT 활용 프로젝트 기반 학습 수업 모듈 개발 및 적용)

  • The purpose of this study is to find out the effects of learning that has applied instruction module utilizing ICT in project-based learning in elementary science classroom on improvement of the self-directed learning skills and the problem-solving skills. For this purpose, the project based learning instruction module utilizing ICT based was developed and conducted to 2 class consisting of 66 elementary students in the 6th grade to clarify the effects. As a result of the study, first, the instruction module utilizing ICT in project-based learning was effective in improving self-directed learning skills of students. As the subordinate effects of self-directed learning skills it showed improved effects in diagnosing desire to learn, setting goals, basic self-managing ability, selecting learning strategy, durability of practicing learning, making effort for result, and self-examination but it did not show improved effects in figuring out recognition of resources for Learning. Second, it was effective in improving the problem-solving skills of students. As the subordinate effects of problem-solving skills it showed improved effects in problem recognition, information gathering, analysis, thinking prior to dissemination, planning skill, and evaluation but it did not show effect on decision making, implementation & risk-taking and feedback.

  • The purpose of the research is to offering an implication about problem posing instruction for improving problem solving ability through 5th grade elementary school students' responses on problem posing. For the purpose a survey was implemented to 281 students at Busan urban area. There was a difference between the students' completeness in terms of problem posing types. They tended to make more simple problems linguistically rather than complicated problems and made problems for the equation easily. At first for the problem posing, students need to be taught to learn for making appropriate problems about an equation.

On Discussion of Problems Inherent in Elementary Mathematics Textbooks Applying Storytelling (스토리텔링을 적용한 초등 수학교과서에 내재된 문제점)

  • Some problems of elementary mathematics textbook applying storytelling continue to be suggested since implementing it in mathematics instruction. The paper looks into concrete problems. First problem is the lack of mathematics education experts studying storytelling in the field. Second problem is that a variety of materials including storytelling need to be used in the process of developing instruction materials. Third problem is that storytelling needs to include integration of various mathematical knowledge. Fourth problem is that it is needed to develop making storytelling focused on mathematical concepts. Fifth problem is that there is no appropriate lessen plan necessary for instruction applying storytelling. Sixth problem is that storytelling inducts intrinsic motivation as well as extrinsic motivation. Final problem is the sources of story need to be diverse. It is expected that storytelling reflecting those aspects is developed.

Emergency Nurses' Critical Thinking Disposition, Problem Solving Ability, and Triage Competency (중증도 분류간호사의 비판적 사고성향, 문제해결능력과 중증도 분류역량)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationships among critical thinking disposition, problem solving ability, and triage competency in nurses working in Emergency Rooms (ERs). Methods: This cross-sectional study, conducted in August and September 2021, involved 118 ER nurses from three hospitals in the Gyeonggi-do metropolitan area. The data were analyzed using t-test, ANOVA, Scheffé test, Pearson correlation coefficients, and multiple linear regression analysis using SPSS for Windows version 25.0. Results: The mean score of triage competency among ER nurses was 87.63±15.65. In the regression model, age, ER experience, triage experience, critical thinking disposition, and problem solving ability predicted 52% of the triage competency. Both critical thinking disposition and problem-solving ability were noted to be significant (β=.32, p<.001; β=.36, p<.001, respectively). Conclusion: Critical thinking disposition and problem solving ability of ER nurses were identified as major factors in triage competency. To improve ER nurses' triage competency and enhance critical thinking disposition and problem solving ability, a systematic and ongoing program should be developed and implemented.
